Prologue
Cincinatti, Ohio-1987

~Alayna & Nick~
Alayna Marie was your typical high school girl. She was the art clubs president, on student concil, one of drama clubs best actress's, one of Cincinatti's best ballerina's and was homecoming queen for her senior fall year. Which was something because not a lot of the "art" club nominated themselves to become queen. But she did, and she couldn't be any happier. She also dated Nick, who was one of those people that everyone liked. She had had the best four years of her high school life, and now today, June the 8th, it was all coming to an end. Her graduationg day. She smiled at her two best friends as they called her name, and walked up to the podium to collect her diploma. Twelve long years and it was over. After the ceremony she talked with a few people, giving hugs to those she knew she wouldn't be seeing again.
"Meet me at our place." she heard someone whisper in her ear. She excused herself and looked around, noticing nick loose himself in the crowd. She smiled and continued to mingle with some friends. There time would come soon.

By the time Alayna had snuck off to the club house in Fullers Field, Nick was already waiting for her.
"What took you so long."
"Blame it on my dad. You know how he gets when he talks." she said, placing a soft kiss on his lips.Nick nodded and looked back up at the sky.
"What's wrong?" Alayna asked softly, touching his hand softly.
"I need to ask you something."
"all right."
"What are you gonna do after this summer."
"I'm going to NYU, you know that."
"Your not going to New York alone, are you?"
"Well, of course I am."
"I guess what I'm trying to say is..........are you engaged like everyone has been saying?" Alayna looked away.
"so you are."
"Nick-"
"why? if you were gonna leave me then you could of just told me instead of keeping it from me."
"That's not even true. I was going to tell you."
"When, at the end of the summer?"
"Well, at first I was but....."
nick snorted and it grew quiet.
"So who is it?" he asked softly.
"Some client my dad knows. Were supposed to get married this December."
"do you love him."
Alayna was quiet.
"if you don't love him why marry him? what happened to our plans, our future?"
Alayna kept quiet. Nick sighed and got up.
"I still love you Alayna, but sometimes love can only do so much. I hope you have a happy future." he sighed softly, kissing her gently on the forehead. Then he climbed down the tree house, out of her life.
"if you only knew Nick, if you only knew." Alayna whispered to no one, then broke down and cried.

Got this figured out. You can add your part to the prologue, then C[arse] can add her's. umm, yeah, and then in Chapter one we can write the present time period and you can write both your guys and your characters POV or whatever. It took writing this to finally figure out how to do it, lol!!!

~*~Leslie & Jeff~*~
Finally it was over; high school was finally a thing of the past. Leslie couldn’t believe that everything that had happened the past four years had all come to an end. It was hard saying goodbye to all of her friends. It was time to say goodbye to Jeff. They had been going out since the first year of high school and now she had to leave him. She saw him standing at their little spot on top of the hill that overlooked the entire town.

“Hey,� Leslie said wrapping her hands around him.

“Hey baby,� he said turning around in her arms and softly kissing her on the lips.

Leslie sighed as she looked in his eyes. “Jeffie... I need to...I’m... um...�

“What is it baby? You can tell me anything.�

“I’m moving away.�

“You’re leaving me?� He said leaning his forehead on hers.

“I’m sorry. My mom was offered a new job in California so we’re moving out there in a couple of days,� Leslie said trying to hold back her tears.

“How long have you known?�

“For a couple of weeks now...� Leslie said looking down.

“And you’re telling me now?�

“I didn’t know how to tell you. So many things kept going through my head. I don’t want to lose you. I’m afraid I will since we’re going to be so far away from each other�, Leslie said as tears ran down her cheeks. She couldn’t hold them back anymore. She didn’t want to do this. She just wanted to hold him and be with him forever.

“You won’t lose me baby. We’ll make it work... I promise.� Jeff said wiping away her tears as he held her close not wanting to let go.

“It’ll be too hard.� Leslie said into his shirt.

“It’s over Jeffie... I love you�, she said kissing him softly one last time and walking away.

Graduation finally arrived for C[arse]i Scott. She was finally going to college. She was very happy but that day she had to do something she'd probably regret later. After everyone got their diplomas they all took pictures. Drew Lachey, her boyfriend of 4 years walked up behind her and wraped his arms around her waist.Now it's time she said in her head.
"Drew can i talk to you for a sec?"
"Yeah sure" Drew said taking her hand and leading her away from the crowd.
"What's up?"
"umm.."
"What?"
"Drew...I think it's best if..."
"If what?"
"If...we broke up.."
"What?! Why?!"
"Drew you're going to be in New York and I'm going to be in California"
"So?" Drew said
"and we'd probably be to busy to visit each other. I dont want a long distance relationship"
"But I love you and ONLY you"
"I know..i love you too but..i dont know if i can handle not seeing you everyday"

"I dont want it but its for the best" C[arse]i said walking away..out of Drew's life.

Chapter 1
10 Years Later

Alayna took a couple of breathes, then stepped into the warm meeting room. Finally, after five years, she got the record deal she had always dreamed of. She didn't really expect that now, at the age of 25, she was going to be touring with another artist. In fact, she didn't believe it. But she was in the small meeting room, waiting for the artist that she would be touring with.
"how ya feeling about all this?" her mutual manager, Dillan, asked as they stood in the stuffy room.
"I don't know what to believe. I really can't believe it as far as feelings go."
"Well you should. You deserve this Alayna. You struggled through too much to not get this far."
tell me about itShe thought to herself as the door opened and a man to look in his thirties walked in.
"hey I'm Mike, Jeff's mananger. he's running a bit late, but said to carry on with the meeting." Mike said, extending his hand out for a handshake. Alayna and Dillian shook it, then returned to thier seats, awaiting further instructions.
"So Alayna, you've made a name for yourself. Your single has already sky rocketed. When's the album coming out?"
"A week after we go on tour. We had to delay it because of personal issues."
"all's fine. Jeff is trying to promote his now in-store CD too, so of course it isn't a real big thing."
"yeah." Alayna gave a weak smile as the door cracked open and a brunette walked into the room.
"sorry for being so late, you know traffic's a mother."
"Its fine, really. We thought we were late so its nothing to worry about." Dillian said nodding her head. Alayna stared at the man. there was something that was familiar about him. The eyes, the smile.....where had she seen him before?
"Jeff I want you too meet your opening act, Alayna."
"Nice to meet you Alayna. I'm Jeff Timmons." Jeff said, extending his hand out.
Alayna stopped dead in her tracks. She knew who he was. This was the founding member of 98 Degrees. This was the same member that had sung by Nick's side. No wonder he looked familiar. She remembered seeing him in a number of television shows, or magazines, or whatever with Nick. but she couldn't be touring with him, could she?
"Alayna..?" Dillian asked, nudging Alayna a bit and bringing her back to reality.
"Its nice to....to meet...you." Alayna said, stuttering over her words. She didn't know why, but all of a sudden she didn't feel so hot about doing this tour. Especially with a bandmate of Nick's.

Nick Lachey was a bit nervous. He was supposed to be meeting with the WB for an opening spot on Charmed. He didn't really think he was capable of the job, but they had called and specifically asked for him. So now here he was, in the hot L.A. studio, awaiting the producers decesion.
"Nick."
He looked up from his cracking knuckles.
"yes."
"Were ready."
He took a inward sigh, then stood up. he followed the young producer into the room, and took a seat behind the long red wood desk.
"We went over the details, talked it through, and we want you. Your not as bad an actor as many have thought you have, and we think this would be a good career jumper for you."
"Really?" Nick asked, [friend]ing an eyebrow.
"yes really. We see this as a good oppurtunity for you. Now, after you sign a few contracts we would like you to come back tomorrow. One of your co-star's can give you a tour of the studio and you can start going through your lines."
"Fine with me." Nick smiled, grabbing a pen and signing his name. Afterwards, after all the congratulations had been awarded, he headed home. Right now, he was more than happy to get the job. all he wanted to do now is go home, watch a couple of sports shows if any, and go to sleep. Jess was gone, and he really didn't have anything else to do. But for some reason, however, he felt that taking the job wouldn't just be a career jumper, but much more. He shook the thoughts out of his head, and continued to drive home.

Chapter 2?

Leslie loved the theater she always had. When she was first asked to be in RENT she was so thrilled. She has been starring in it for 6 months now. Today they were going to meet the guy that was going to play Mark. She slowly walked around the empty theatre going in between the seats and sitting in different areas wanting to get the feel of being in the audience. She was so deep in thought that she didn’t notice the guy walking towards her.

“Excuse me,� he said tapping her on the shoulder. She jumped a little and looked up at him from her seat. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,� he said sitting next to her.

“It’s alright, I was just in my own little world I didn’t realize you were there.� Leslie said sitting up straight. “Can I help you with something?� She said looking at him. She couldn’t really see him that well since the lights in the theatre were dim.

“Well, you’re the only person I haven’t met yet. I figured I would introduce myself. I’m the new guy…. I’m Drew Lachey,� he said extending his hand out for her to shake.

“You’re... Drew… from 98 Degrees? Um... I have to go,â€ÂÂ� she said getting up out of her seat. “Oh...yeah...um...itâ€â†žÂ¢s nice to meet you,â€ÂÂ� she shook his hand and walked out of the theatre. She needed some air. So many things were running through her head at the moment. Why him? Out of all of the people in the world to be in this play...why did it have to be him? Why did it have to be Jeff’s friend? What if Jeff came to see Drew in the play? She didn’t want to bump into him. She couldn’t bump into him. She tried to avoid him so many times when she was out in California. He’s the main reason why she moved to New York. It hurt too much seeing him walk around town with his wife and kids. She still loved him. She wanted him to be happy so she just stayed away. She never once talked to him when she saw him walking down the street. She didn’t know what to say...so she just decided to move in order to get away and let him live his life. Now she was stuck in a play with one of his friends.


Jeff was so excited that he was going to be on tour. He had just finished meeting Alayna, who was going to be his opening act. He was now back at home relaxing on his couch waiting for his manager to call him and let him know what was on their agenda next. Jeff decided to go through his boxes and finish unpacking. He had just finished moving out of the house he shared with Trish. They had separated and he had decided to be the one to move out. He rummaged through the nearby box and took out a book. He looked at it and realized it was his high school yearbook. He opened the book to the page he always ended up on every time he looked in it. It was a picture of him and Leslie, his high school sweetheart. He missed her so much. He always thought about her, even when he was with Trish. He still loved her and hoped that they would be together again. He wasn’t mad at her for leaving him even if she did break his heart. He knows now that a long distance relationship would have never worked out. He wondered what she was up to now and if she was still in California. He could only hope that he would see her again. He wanted to let her know that he still had feelings for her.

okie dokie..lucky i had study yesterday..i was gonna write this last night but i was dead tired..i had an away game and got home @ like 9 and i feel asleep on the bus :P ill add more tomorrow since its like almost 1am here lol

The day for auditions for Charmed had finally arrived. C[arse]i woke up early so that she could get ready, by 8am she was out the door and on the way to the studio. When she arrived there, there were a lot of people trying out for parts. C[arse]i started getting some butterflies in her stomach. She waited for 20 minutes until they called her. Auditions went great for C[arse]i, so she treated herself to a nice lunch.

2 weeks later C[arse]i got a phone call regarding about the auditions from Charmed.
“Hello?” C[arse]i said picking up her cell phone.
“Hello, Is this C[arse]i Scott?”
“Yes this is her”
“Hi, I am Kim Andrews from the set of Charmed. I am calling to inform you that you’ve got the part of Riley Daniels. We will need you to be here at 7am tomorrow morning”
“Ok”
“Alright. I’ll see you tomorrow then”
“Ok” C[arse]i said before she hung up the phone.

Then she went in search of what to wear tomorrow. She raided her closet and could find anything, so she decided to go to the mall. This was a good excuse to get some new clothes she said to herself. She bought some new jeans and a cute top. She wasn’t really the "dressy type" of girl. After walking around in the mall for a little but she went home, changed into her pajamas and curled up on the couch and watched a good movie.

The next day C[arse]i arrived at the studio just in time.
"Hi, you must be C[arse]i Scott?"
"Yes"
"I'm Kim Andrews. We spoke on the phone yesterday"
"Oh yes, Hi" C[arse]i said smiling.
"Well since you'd be part of the crew how about I introduce you to some of the people here"
"Sure" C[arse]i said following Kim around. She met some of the cast of Charmed and some of the Crew and producers.
"We do have one new guy on the set but he isn’t here yet. He's playing the role of Leslie St. Clair. Phoebe's ghostwriter."
C[arse]i nodded and looked around. Then she saw someone walk through the door and she stopped dead in her tracks.
"This can't be" She said
"Can't be what?" Kim said looking in the direction where C[arse]i was looking.
"You of fan of him?" she asked her.
"No,Yes, I don't know" C[arse]i said just staring.
"Want to meet him?" She said waving him over.
"No!" C[arse]i said looking away.
"Nick I'd like you to meet.."
"C[arse]I??" Nick said in surprise. C[arse]i closed her eyes and hoped that this was just a dream.
"You guys know each other?" Kim asked
"Yeah sorta" Nick said
"Good, Nick maybe you can show her around" Kim said walking away.
"Wait!!" C[arse]i said trying to stop Kim from leaving but she wasn’t successful.
"Ugh"
"I see how it is" Nick said laughing a little.
"Spent countless times covering for you and my brother and all i get is an Ugh?" Nick said.
"Nick don’t..."
"Don't what?"
"You know what"
"Oh you mean remind you about Drew...the one who's heart you broke. Leaving without saying goodbye?"
C[arse]i stayed silent.
"He was heartbroken C[arse]i. You should have seen him. He never left his room. He couldn’t move on and you never talking to him again didn’t make it any better"
C[arse]i sighed.
"Nick I don't want to talk about this alright?"
"Ok...I'll show you around I guess" Nick said walking around with C[arse]i right behind him.

After spending time with Nick and the cast of Charmed, C[arse]i headed home. When she walked through the door she threw everything on the couch and walked into her bedroom. She opened the draw in her nightstand and took out a picture of her and Drew on the day of Graduation. Slowly tears fell from her eyes. She didn't know why she every broke up with him. He was her world and she never wanted to lose him...but she did. She always told herself it was for the best but deep in her heart she knew she was lying to herself. She missed Drew. Drew on the other hand moved on, slowly. He finally got married and was happy, but deep in his heart he still loved and cared for C[arse]i. No matter what Drew always had a place in his heart for her and vice versa. C[arse]i cried herself to sleep with the picture close to her heart.

Chapter (?)

When Alayna came home from the meeting, she was already emotionally drained. She stepped into some sweats, grabbed some Ben and Jerry's, and walked toward her porch. She needed to relax. She sat down on her lawn chair and watched the sun set against the San Fransico sky line. She took a couple of bites from her ice cream, before getting up and walking back into the house. She placed the container of ice cream on a counter and walked to the back of her town home. There she started to rummage through a couple of old albums she had. She laughed and smiled at old friends, and completly froze when she saw picture after picture of her and Nick. Slowly tears fell down her face as she thought about how happy they both used to be. She looked down at her wedding finger and sighed. Garret Richardson was the worst guy there ever was, and she was married to him untill he had died in a plane crash. She sighed and pushed the album back under her bed and grabbed her old yearbook. She looked at old pictures of her, Nick, Drew and Drew's girlfriend C[arse]i. She wondered how she was doing, and made a note to try to look her up the next day. Eventually she grew tired and fell asleep. By the time morning came, she was ready for a brand new day. She was hoping that she would be able to face Jeff with it.

After meeting up with C[arse]i, Nick went home. He was suprised to see that she was on set, and couldn't help but ask her all about Drew. He didn't think that she would take it so personally though, seeing as she was the one who broke up with him. He decided to let it go and went to take a shower. Just as he was stepping out, his phone rang. It turned out to be his brother.
"hey Drew, how you liking New York?"
"Its great. Nothing has really changed."
"how's the show coming along."
"Pretty good though one of the cast members acts kinda wierd. Nice but wierd. She practically ran away from me when we met."
"I'd run if I met you too." Nick laughed.
"oh hardy har har. So how did that screening go? Did you get the part?"
"yeah, I'll be playing Leslie St. Clair, Phoebe's ghostwriter."
"Leslie?"
"Don't ask. Although I do get to kiss Alyssa Milano."
"Still....Leslie?"
"Just drop it, all right." Nick laughed as he pulled some boxers on him.
"Well, that's good. Anyone on set you know?"
"Yeah, actually I ran into Ca..." he stopped realizing that even though his brother was a happily married man, he still did love C[arse]i.
"You ran into who?"
"Just an old friend. I gotta go, talk to you later."
"G'night." Drew said, hanging up the phone. Nick did the same, and got up and went into his game room. After playing a couple of rounds of his golf video game, he decided to go to bed early. He went to sleep fast, and soon fell into another dream world.
"Catch me if you can, slow poke!"
"I will shorty." Nick laughed as he chased his girlfriend Alayna around his front yard. Eventually he caught up to her and they both fell into the snow.
"I told you I'd catch you." he whispered into her ear.
"Lucky." she smiled, hitting him with some snow. He smiled and pulled her closer to him.
"I love you Ala, you know that right?"
Her smile grew wider.
"I do. I love you too."
"I hate that we graduate soon."
"Me too." Alayna sighed.
"Hey, turn that frown upside down. Alayna had to laugh at the comment, and looked up at Nick.
"Why?"
"Cause after we graduate, I want you to move to L.A. with me."
"Are you serious Nick. I can't go to L.A. with you, you know my dad..."
"Your dad will have to agree seeing as he'll need to walk you down the aisle."
"What?" Alayna asked, resting her head on his shoulder.
"I'm asking you if you want to get married." He asked, pulling a velvet box out to expose a 2karat ring.
"Nick....we...." Alayna blinked back tears of joy.
"I can't imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone else."
"you mean it."
"I do." Nick smiled at her, leaning down for a kiss.
Nick woke up with a start. He turned on his bedside lamp and looked around. He was back in his home, in L.A. He laid back down and sighed. He missed her. The dream was so vivid, almost like it happened yesterday. She had said yes and both had started to plan for the big day. But all for nothing. Spring came and one of his friends that worked for her dad had tipped him about her getting engaged to some top corporate. After they had talked about it in the treehouse, she ignored him for the rest of the summer. He still loved her but she had made clear that she didn't want him back. But still, he wondered, what did she look like now? Was she still married, did she have any kids? He turned off his light and fell back to sleep. Why should he care now, he was married and she didn't make any effort to contact him. Even with this in mind, he spent the rest of the night dreaming about her and what it would of been like if she had became the next Mrs. Lachey.


Alayna walked into the stage arena ready for the day.
"hey Jeff." she smiled, spotting him talking to the band. he smiled and walked down to her.

"True," Jeff said as they started to walk toward the stage.

"I'm as okay as a hot bowl of skyline chili on a cold winter day. Areyou[/i sure your okay with touring with me?" she asked, looking over at him. he stopped and looked at her.
"What?" she asked.
"Nothing, you go on ahead. I think I left something back there."
"all right." Alayna shrugged, continuing to walk toward the stage. Jeff looked at her and shook his head.[I]Could it be that this was the Alayna that Nick used to go out with. The only person that says,I'm as okay as a hot bowl of chili on cold winter day is Nick. How would she know that? he looked at her as she started to warm up on stage.

Leslie walked into the theater the next day for rehearsals. She had decided to try and act normal around Drew since they would be working together for the next couple of months. She saw him on stage practicing his lines so she decided to sit in the audience area and watch. A few minutes later he finished and walked over to her.

“Hey Drew,� she said as he took a seat next to her.

“Hey. You’re not going to run away from me today, right?�

“No. I wanted to apologize for that though.�

“It’s cool. It was a change, usually people are running towards me not the other way around,� he said as they both laughed.

“You did pretty good up there,� she said changing the subject.

"Thanks. I'm just hoping I'll do well for opening night."

"You'll do fine. We have a month to rehearse so you'll get the hang of it," Leslie said as her cell phone rang.

"Excuse me." Leslie said to Drew as she answered her phone. “Hello?�

“Hey Les...How are you? Guess what?� an excited voice on the other end said.

“Hey C[arse]...I’m good. What’s up?�

“I got the part in Charmed�

“Congrats girl. I love that show. I can’t wait to see you on the screen.�

“Yeah, I know. It’s so cool. Guess who I’m working with though...� C[arse]i said as the tone in her voice changed.

“Nick Lach... oh...um...I’m gonna have to call you later ‘cause I’m at rehearsals at the moment. Congratulations again.� Les said remembering that C[arse]i had went out with Drew in high school and he was sitting next to her listening to her conversation.

“Thanks, bye,� she said as they both hung up.

“I have to go,� Leslie said getting up from her seat and waiting for Drew to move so that she could get out.

After they each sang a couple of songs, picking the ones that they wanted to sing on tour, they decided to go down the list of states they would like to tour in. Alayna suggested that they perform in New York around the time RENT would begin because she always wanted to go to a Broadway show. Jeff agreed since Drew was starring in it also, he would be able to hang out with him and catch up on what was going on in his life. After they were done they decided to call it a day.

Jeff walked into his living room and looked at his high school yearbook, which was sitting on his coffee table, where he had left it the night before. He sighed and walked into his bedroom and sat on his bed. He wondered if Alayna was Nick’s ex. He remembered a couple of months ago when he was hanging out with the guys at Nick’s house and they were talking about their old girlfriends. He could just call Nick up and ask him about Alayna but he didn’t want to bring her up to him. He was with Jess now and he seemed sad that day when he was telling them about her and how she broke his heart. Jeff decided to just forget about mentioning it to Nick and went to sleep.</span></span>

The next morning C[arse]i woke up earlier then she had too. So she decided to call her friend Leslie. She walked into the living room and found her cell phone on the floor and picked it up and dialed Leslie’s number.

“Hello?”

“Hey Les, How are you? Guess what!”

“Hey C[arse], I’m good. What’s up?”

“I GOT THE PART IN CHARMED!”

“Congrats girl. I love that show. I can’t wait to see you on the screen.”

“Yeah, I know. It’s so cool. Guess who I’m working with though...” C[arse]i said as the tone in her voice changed.

“Who?”

“Nick...”

“Nick Lach... oh...um...I’m gonna have to call you later ‘cause I’m at rehearsals at the moment.
Congratulations again.”

“Ok, Thanks Bye” C[arse]i said as they both hung up. She sighed as she sat back on the couch and
looked at the blank TV screen. She closed her eyes and sighed once again. For some reason, she couldn’t get Drew out of her mind. Its like he’s burned in her head. She got up and walked into the bathroom. She looked in the mirror and didn’t really like what she saw. She still had her doubts about taking this job, but it paid good money and she needed money right now. Since she didn’t have to be at the studio in a while she went out for a jog to clear her mind. She changed and grabbed her CD player, cell phone and keys and walked out the door. While ran she kept thinking about Drew. She couldn’t do this, she couldn’t put herself in the same position she did years before. Knowing that leaving Drew was the biggest mistake in her life, just kept bringing back memories of the times they had together. C[arse]i was so wrapped up in her thoughts she accidentally ran into someone.
“I’m sorry,” she said as she helped the person that she knocked over up.
“It’s ok” he said as he looked up.
“C[arse]i?..” he said
“Damn…Nick what are you doing here?” C[arse]i said as Nick stood up.
“Going for a walk. What does it look like?” Nick said as he cell phone rang.
“Hold on a sec” he said as he answered his phone.



Drew's view

Drew walked into the studio and walked on stage. While he was practicing his lines Leslie walked in and sat down and watch him. After finishing through a scene, Drew walked down to were Leslie was sitting and sat down next to her.

“Hey Drew,” Leslie said as he took a seat next to her.

“Hey. You’re not going to run away from me today, right?”

“No. I wanted to apologize for that though.”

Drew being how he is soon drifted off to La-La land, but when Leslie said “Hey C[arse]” something sparked on his head. That name was oh so familiar. When Leslie got off the phone, Drew asked her whom it was.

“Its just a friend of mine”

“Oh…”

“Why?”

“Just wondering”

“Ok”

“Just curious where did you move from?”

“California”

“That’s cool, my brother lives there”

“Yeah I know” Leslie said as she laughed a little.

“Yeah forgot about that” Drew said laughing.

They talked for a little bit more and got to know each other since they’d be working with each other for a while. After Drew and Leslie went their separate ways. Drew drove home and while in the car Drew was trying to figure out why the name C[arse] sounded familiar. Then at the stoplight it struck him. He remembered who it was, his old girlfriend. As soon as he remembered thoughts of high school and started to run through his mind. Then the car behind him beeped at him and Drew snapped out of his little daze and drove home. When Drew got home Lea, his wife was making dinner and Drew went into their bedroom and took out a picture from behind a picture of him and his brother. He looked at it and his heart sank. “It couldn’t be” he said to himself. It couldn’t be the same girl he knew. There’s more then one girl named C[arse]i who lives in California and he could be wrong, she might have moved after college. The thought quickly disappeared from his mind when Lea called him down for dinner.

For the rest of the week, Alayna and Jeff worked together to get thier tour started. They grew closer and more comfortable around each other, and soon they became each other's buddy. Now it was the first night of the tour, and it was going to start in L.A. Then it would move to New York, and continue on from there. Alayna took soft easy breathes as she stood, waiting for her cue. Jeff noticed her uneasiness and walked over.
"Ya nervous?" he asked. Alayna nodded as she started to crack her knuckles.
"Ya, can't you tell?"
"Well besides the fact that your cracking your knuckles like crazy....."
"Well excuuuuusssseee me." Alayna said, feigning a smile and flipping him off.
"Thanks, you want fries with that?"
"Shut-up." she laughed, again cracking her knuckles.
"Can you stop with that, really?"
"I wish I could but I can't. Its a nervous gesture I picked up from my boyfriend in high school."
Jeff nodded then stopped. Nick cracked his knuckles when he was nervous. A lot. In fact he remembered having the same conversation with him three years ago while their were on their Revolation Tour. Again another piece to an un-solved puzzle.
"Jeff, Mike's calling for you." Alayna said, interrupting him of his thoughts.
"Oh right, well....I'll talk to you later. Good luck." he smiled at her. She smiled back and grabbed her mike, getting ready to run out on stage. She took a couple of breathes, then walked on stage.
"What's up L.A.!!" she screamed, jumping on stage and starting up with her opening song.

Nick looked at C[arse]i crazily again, before he picked up the phone.
"hey Drew, how ya doing?"
"Pretty good and you?"
"Good, whatcha doing?"
"Just got done with dinner, I was going over some lines, you?"
"I was out walking...." he kinda let himself drift. He didn't want Drew to know that standing less than three feet away from him was his ex high school girlfriend.
"all right, well, wanted to call to know what's up. Talk to you later?"
"All right, tell Lea I said hi."
"Will do. Bye."
"See ya." Nick said hanging up the phone.
"Was..that...Drew?" C[arse]i asked him a couple of minutes later.
"Yeah, it was." he started to walk away.
"Nick, listen, I'm sorry I snapped at you earlier. I was just thinking about things."
"Right." Nick said, continuing his pace. C[arse]i sighed.
"How's he doing."
"Fine, other than the fact that he still is trying to get over you."
"Nick-"
"Listen," he stopped.
"You may not think he loved you back then, but he did. Did and still does. If he knew that we were starring together he 'd divorced Lea and fly out here and try to win your heart. I'm not going to do that though, you don't deserve the credit and he doesn't deserve the heartache." he started to walk again. C[arse]i gaped at him, and then ran up beside him.
"Since you want to bring up old wounds, what about you and Alayna?"
This time Nick stopped.
"You still love her too. She broke your heart and you still love her. You don't know the real reason why she left, and you don't know the real reason why I left, so why don't you just back off." she said, then turned around and jogged off in the opposite direction. Nick looked at her and sighed. She had a point. He still was in love with Alayna. He walked back in his car and turned on the radio

Nick turned off the radio and sighed. What was wrong with him? She was haunting him everywhere. He turned on the radio again though, and listened to the words. It did sort of sounded like her. He shrugged it off and drove home. Jessica was coming home and he wanted to suprise her.

Alayna: Thank you! :) I'm gonna be doing a concert in NY in a couple of days, maybe we can hangout. I want to see you in RENT while I'm there too.
Leslie: That would be awesome. So, are you touring alone or with someone?
Alayna: I'm touring with....Jeff...
Leslie: Oh.....um....cool.
Alayna: I would really like you to come to the concert. It's on a day that you are off. I made sure of that. The day after the concert is when we're going to see RENT.
Leslie: You made sure of it? I'm gonna get you for that. lol I'll go...but only 'cause it's your first tour. You owe me big time. What do you mean we are going to see RENT?
Alayna: Jeff and I
Leslie: *sigh* How am I supposed to avoid the guy if you keep placing us in the same location?
Alayna: Hey...you can avoid him at the concert if you want I won't ask you to come backstage 'cause I know how you feel about him... but him going to the play was his idea since Drew is in it.

Leslie shut her computer off and went to take a shower. After her bath she laid on her bed and thought about ways to try and avoid Jeff. As she drifted to sleep she hoped that he wouldn't recognize her.

Alayna reached for the phone and immediatly dialed Leslie's cell phone number. She had previously gave it to her seeing as the on-line thing at times wasn't working out.
"Hello?"
"Les? Is that you?"
"Yeppers, it is. Who's this?"
"Its me....Alayna."
"Hey Ala, how's everything going? How's the tour coming along."
"Good were headed out there right now actually."
"Kudos, get to be seeing you soon."
"yeah...." Alayna said. There then was a moment of silence.
"All right, why did you really call me?" Leslie asked after a while.
"I wanted to say hi. Can't a friend call and say hi?"
"I suppose."
Alayna started to play with her fingers then finally said,
"Leslie, remember how I said me and Jeff are going out there to see the play."
"Must you remind me. I dread that day." Leslie joked.
"Well seems you might be seeing Jeff after the show after all."
"What!!"
"Mike had a brochure. He showed it to Jeff. Jeff recognized you.....I'm now sitting her calling and telling you this..."
"Alayna you have to distract Jeff, I can't see him again!!"

"Because...you just don't understand."

Silence. Alayna was starting to think about Nick again and Leslie's thoughts were drifting back to Jeff. They were both interrupted by Jeff walking into the room.
"Yeah Nick, I still don't know what your rambling about. Why can't you just go out and go see the play?" Jeff smiled at Alayna and took a seat beside her.
"Ala, is that Jeff."
"Si senorita."
"Guess you should be going."
"Unless you want Jeff to listen in on our conversation, yeah."

Alayna said hanging up the phone. She turned to Jeff who was saying,
"Nick just come out and meet her yourself. Yes, she's one hell of a singer. Besides were seeing your brother so you should come anyways. yeah, whatever. Talk to you later, bye."
He hung up the phone and looked over at a gaping Alayna.
"What?"
"Who was that?"
"Nick."

"Lachey."
Alayna looked at him wide-eyed, then said,
"Oh."
They were both quite, lost in their own thoughts.
"So...." Jeff started.
"Yeah?"
"Who were you talking too?"
"My friend Lesl....Les." Alayna caught herself.
"Oh, your friend in New York."
"Yep."
"She's seen RENT yet?"
"Actually she's seen it quite a few."
"Wow, must be pretty rich. Those tickets aren't easy to come by."
"My friend has some pretty good connections."

"She know's someone in the play."
"I see." Jeff said, trying to piece everything together in his head. There was Nick wanting to know about Alayna all of a sudden. Then there was Alayna and her mystery friend Les. Who happened to know someone in RENT. Then there was Leslie all together, who was actually in RENT. It was all too much for him.

Chapter 9 continued

Nick sighed as Jeff hung up the phone. What was his big deal? All he wanted to know was who Alayna was. He was tired of guessing. And the fact that he never told him was really going to led to World War 3 at home. When Jessica came home, he wasn't his usual self. Meaning, though throughout the week he was looking forward to seeing her, he wasn't happy to see her when he actually saw her. In fact, he was short tempered, tired of hearing her voice, and when he snapped at her she got mad and alas the argument started. That was when he went up to his room and turned on the radio and that song was on, again. The more he heard the song, the more he wanted to know the truth. So that led to him calling Jeff. Which led to no where. He was as lost as he was before he called him. He looked at the phone for a minute, then picked it up once again. He decided that he had left him off the hook a little to easily. After hearing the phone ring two times, he heard the familiar,
"Hello."
"So, when are you going to see RENT again?"
"I already told you, the day after the concert."
"And who were you going with again."
"Nick..." Jeff sighed.
"What, I just want to know out of curiosity."
"If you must know, the artist that I'm on tour with."
"Who's name is....?"
"Alayna dude."
"Alayna who? I'm pretty sure her last name isn't 'dude'"
"I don't know, why would I want to know her last name. She uses her first name as her stage name."
"What about you? She know's your last name."
"Yeah, her and about a thousand other girls. I had a group prior my single singing career. A group that you were also in."
"I think there's something that your not telling me Timmons."
"What else is there to tell?"
"Is she in the same room as you? Ask her her last name."
"Fine, if you really want to know I'll tell you." Jeff sighed. Nick heard him ask the question, heard a muffled replied, then Jeff say into the phone.
"Alayna Dequot all right. Are you happy?"
Nick sighed. He could of sworn it was Alayna.His Alayna.
"Yeah, thanks."
"So are still going to the show with us?"
"Yeah, I'm in for a visit with my brother. That and Jess is pissed off at me."
"What you do this time Lachey."
"I had a short temper today, people have those days..."
"Hell everyone would have those days if they had to deal with Jessica." Jeff snorted.
"Jeff." Nick warned.
"All right, all right shutting up. I'll talk to you later. I still say you should come out to the concert too, it could be good for you. And it could get you away from your wife earlier. "
Nick thought about this, and then smiled into the phone,
"Give me a good reason why and maybe I will."

Chapter 10

Leslie hung up the phone after talking to Alayna and placed her head in her hands. She couldn’t do this...she didn’t want to face Jeff. She didn’t know what she would do. She was still in love with the guy. She was deep in thought when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She looked up and saw that Drew was sitting in the chair next to hers.

“Hey...are you ok?�

“Yea,� Les said, wiping away tears realizing that she had been crying.

“Are you sure? Do you want to talk about it?� Drew asked sounding concerned. She didn’t want to just come out and say that she was still in love with his best friend. She did want to talk about it with someone. She was always able to talk to Drew about things. He would always listen and give her advice. She decided to see what type of advice he gave her on her little Jeff problem, of course, without mentioning Jeff’s name to him.

“No... I’m not ok,� she sighed and kept going. “There’s this guy I really don’t want to see, but I might end up bumping into him soon.�

“Did he hurt you in anyway? Is that why you’re crying? I can take him on. He’s not that much bigger than me is he?� Leslie had to laugh at Drew’s last comment. He always knew how to make her smile when she was in a depressing mood. “Are you feeling a little better now?� he asked giving her a little hug.

“Just a tad...but to answer your questions: he didn’t hurt me I hurt him...kind of. I was crying because I’m still in love with him, but I know he would never take me back. He’s married and he has two kiddies. He’s taller than you, but who isn’t?� She said looking down at her hands.

“I’ll let that short joke slide for now,� he said laughing. “I can understand why you don’t want to see him, but wouldn’t you want to know how he feels about you now?�

“Yea, but he’s married. I wouldn’t want to get involved. It’ll hurt too much. I would always cry myself to sleep when I saw images of them together or when I saw him walking around town with her when I lived out in Cali.�

“Wait...he lived in Cali too. I thought you said you moved away after high school.�

“I went to school in Ohio...� Leslie started.

“Where in Ohio did you go to school?� Drew asked interrupting her.

“M[arse]illon. Anyway, he moved to Cali a few years after I did.�

“Oh ok. You said you saw images of him...your friends took them?�

Uh oh...Leslie thought. Why did she have to say that part? What was she supposed to say, that she went out with someone that was constantly in the public eye? “Uh...no...he’s... um… famous now.�

“Oh.� Drew said, as Jeff popped in his head. Could this be the Leslie he had went out with in H.S.? Is this the Leslie that left him because she moved away? She said basically everything that Jeff said that night they were talking about their first loves.

“Are you ok?� Leslie asked, seeing that Drew was staring at her with a lost look in his eyes.

“Yea, I’m ok. I think you should talk to him. How do you know that he’s still married? Or that he’s happy in the relationship that he’s in now? Or how he feels about you? You won’t truly get over him if you keep running away from him.� Drew said as someone called him to the stage. “Think about that,� he said, giving her a hug and walking towards the stage.

Leslie sighed. Drew did make sense. It had been 10 years now and she still wasn’t over Jeff. She decided to just let whatever happened happen. She needed to stop avoiding him because sooner or later she was going to bump into him, which now seemed like it was going to happen more sooner than later.

The night of the concert finally came and Leslie was more nervous now than she was the first time she starred in RENT. She wiped her sweaty palms on her jeans and walked into the arena. Alayna had given her seats not too far from the stage, but far enough so that Jeff wouldn’t see her in the audience.

She was excited to see her friend perform on stage. She did a great job. Everybody in the audience seemed to love her.

Jeff was onstage now performing Whisper That Way and she couldn’t help but watch him sing. She had told herself that she would leave after Alayna’s performance, but she couldn’t take her eyes off of Jeff. Her heart stopped when he looked in her direction and paused for a short second before going back to the song. She hoped he didn’t notice her in the audience. She noticed that he did know it was her when he kept looking at her throughout his whole performance. After the concert finished she went home and went to sleep. She needed to relax and prepare herself for what might come tomorrow when Alayna and Jeff came to see RENT.

Chapter 10 Continued

<span style="font-family:Geneva">Jeff was nervous the whole way to New York. He couldn’t relax knowing that his first love was in RENT, the same show Drew was in. He hoped that she still remembered him. He really needed to talk to her and see how she was doing. He decided to concentrate on the concert for now and worry about what he was going to say to Leslie later.

They had already done the sound check earlier in the day; they were just waiting for the arena to fill up with people now. “We start in 5 minutes,� Jeff heard one of the stage people say as he saw Alayna walking his way.

“Hey, good luck out there,� Jeff said giving her a hug.

“Thanks Jeff. I just hope my friend decided to come to the concert.�

“Is she coming backstage? Maybe we can all go to dinner afterwards.� Jeff said.

“No, she’s not actually. She’s just going to be in audience and than she has other thing to do.�

“Oh ok. Well, where is she going to be sitting maybe I can wave to her or something?� he asked wondering if Les was actually his Leslie. His Leslie? He thought to himself. Well she was once his and hopefully she would be again.

“Um…. She’s like in the sixth row facing the stage.� Alayna said hoping Jeff wouldn’t spot her.

“Alayna, we need you to start getting ready,� one of the stage people said handing her a microphone and leading her to the stage.

“Have fun!� Jeff yelled after her.

“Thanks! I will,� she yelled back.

After Alayna had performed Jeff went on stage and greeted the audience. He started singing Whisper That Way and scanned the sixth row to see if he saw Leslie. He hoped that Alayna’s friend Les was his high school sweetheart Leslie. Good thing he was on an instrumental part of the song because his heart completely stopped when he saw her. He couldn’t believe it was her. He snapped himself out of it and finished the song and the rest of his performance. He kept looking at her to make sure that she was actually there and he wasn’t dreaming. After the concert was over he went to his hotel room since he didn’t have any luck getting anything out of Alayna. He decided to phone Drew.

“Hello?�

“Hey Drew. It’s Jeff.�

“Hey man. How was your concert?�

“It was good.�

“So, are you still coming tomorrow night to see the play?�

“Yea, um…. I actually have a question about one of the cast members.�

“Why do you think they’re cute or something? I don’t want you going out with anyone I work with….than I’ll have to listen to details of your dates,� Drew said as they both laughed.

“No… it’s this one girl…um…,†� Jeff said pausing, wondering if he should actually let Drew know who she was.

“What’s up Jeff? You can talk to me.�

“Leslie…,â€à ‚Â� Jeff said almost whispering.

“Leslie….your high school sweetheart?�

“Yea… I’m still in love with her. She probably doesn’t even remember me.�

“Believe me she remembers you. I spoke to her the other day she didn’t say your name, but I knew she was talking about you. She’s still in love with you man. I told her to talk to you. You can try and catch her tomorrow after the show. Hopefully she’ll take my advice and speak to you.�

Jeff sighed letting all of his fears wash away. She was still in love with him. He just wanted to have her in his arms again. “Thanks man. I’ll see you tomorrow night.�

“Alright, are you feeling better?�

“Yea…bye†�

“Bye� Drew said hanging up. Jeff went to sleep dreaming about the good times he had with Leslie back in high school.

The next night finally came and Jeff couldn’t believe how well Leslie and Drew both did. He and Alayna were backstage waiting for them to finish greeting fans. Jeff was starting to get nervous. He hadn’t seen Leslie in 10 years; he didn’t know what to say to her.

“Are you ok?� Alayna asked him after awhile.

“Yea, why do you ask?�

“You look nervous.�

“Oh… we..,� Jeff started saying, before he got interrupted by someone hitting his arm. He turned around and saw Drew standing next to him.

“Don’t look at me, I didn’t hit you. It was her.,� Drew said pointing to someone behind him. Jeff turned around and saw her.

“Hey…w[arse]up?� she said sounding a little nervous. Jeff looked at Drew and then back at Leslie. He couldn’t believe she was standing right in front of him. He was speechless.

“You did a really good job Les.� Alayna said interrupting his little staring contest with Leslie.

“Thanks Ala. You did great at the concert last night,� she said as they both hugged. Jeff couldn’t keep his eyes off of her.

“Say something to her. Do you know how much bugging it took me to get her to say hi to you first?� Drew said nudging him a few seconds later.

Jeff looked at him and smiled. “That’s Leslie.�

“Yes, I know.� Drew laughed. “Now say hi or I miss you or I love you. Just say something before she thinks something bad.�

Jeff looked again at Leslie who was now talking to Alayna. He tapped Leslie on the shoulder. “Sorry to interrupt,� he heard himself say. She looked at him and smiled. He smiled back and moved closer and gave her a hug.

“Aw,� he heard Drew and Alayna say in the background. He faded them out and held Leslie tighter and started to cry.

Chapter 11
Nick had arrived in New York a day earlier. He had went to surprise Jeff, but then thought otherwise. He might as well meet up with him at the show. The day of the concert came and instead of getting noticed by Jeff, Nick decided to spend some time with Drew. Finally, the day of the production came and Nick came in ten minutes late. He was held back by Jessica. After a brief conversation and a short argument, he finally made it into the theater. Now it was after the show, and Nick had promised to meet Drew backstage with one of his co-stars, Jeff, and Alayna. Which he didn't mind, because he wanted to know who she was once and for all. Once he was backstage, he looked around for Drew, and spotted him with a pretty girl aroud his hieght.
"Hey Drew!" he yelled, making his way toward him. Drew turned around and smiled at him.
"Hey Nick, didn't think you made it."
"I did. Where's Jeff?"
"Over there." Drew said, pointing toward Jeff who was talking to a pretty girl a couple of inches shorter than him.
"Who's that?"
"My co-star and ironically his high school girlfriend."
"Really?" Nick said, raising a brow. Drew nodded as the girl who was standing next to him started to fiddle with her fingers.
"So if that's his co-star, then this would be.....?"
"Oh my bad. Nick, this is Jeff's opening act Alayna. Alayna this is my brother Nick."
Alayna looked up at him and gave him a weak smile. Nick smiled. She was pretty at a distance, but now standing next to her she was one of the most beautiful woman that he had ever met. Here eyes shined with anticipation and...fear?
"So your Alayna. I've been wanting to know about you."
"Why?"
"I don't know, you reminded me of someone that I knew. And beside that, I heard your song on the radio, and I like it. Guess I wanted to meet the artist who sung it is all." he shrugged casually. Alayna slowly nodded and said,
"Well I wrote it for my high school boyfriend."
"Really? Who is he?"
"Er....just someone that I once went out with. No one I'm sure you wouldn't know."
"oh." he said as Jeff and Leslie walked over.
"Hey Jeff, how have you been?" he asked, giving him a hug.
"Pretty good and you?"
"Been holding up pretty good myself. So, who's your friend?"
"Leslie, I'm Drew's co-star."
"Nice to meet you." he said, shaking her hand. There was a moment of awkward silence before Alayna said,
"S'cuse me boys, but I have to talk to Leslie for a second."
"All right." Nick smiled at her. She gave a weak smile back before pulling Leslie to another section of the stage.
"So I hear that Leslie's your high school girlfriend." Nick said after a while.
"What?" Jeff asked, pulling his eyes away from Leslie toward Nick. Nick rolled his eyes as he repeated,
"You...Leslie....used to go out in high school."
"Yeah." he nodded, then quickly asked,
"who told you that?"
Nick nodded toward Drew who was idly looking up at the cieling whistling.
"You little weasel."
"Hey, Nick's family."
Jeff rolled his eyes as Nick proceeded to say,
"So Alayna...."
"What about Alayna?"
"She single."
"What's it to you? Your married."
"I know, was just wondering."
"Well yeah. She just got out of a divorce."
"Really?"
"Yeah, to some big shot in New York. Well, I guess you could say she was sort of forced to divorce seeing as he died."
"Oh." Nick said softly. Alayna had been married to some big shot in New York. But he knew that this Alayna wasn't his Alayna. This one was mysterious and exotic. A completly 180 from the Alayna that he knew.
"You guys want to go out to dinner. We can invite Leslie and Alayna to come with us." Drew suggested, breaking Nick out of his thoughts.
"Cool with me if its cool with girls." Jeff shrugged. Nick nodded.
"I'm game."
"All right." Drew said, as Leslie slowly walked back to them.

Alayna had immediatly froze when she saw Nick backstage. She went completly numb when he was next to her. He had grown. A lot. And beyond that, he had grown handsome. Very, very, handsome. She only hoped that he wouldn't notice or remember her. She had fooled Drew, and was hoping to fool him also. When she noticed that she hadn't, she had some wieght lifted off her shoulders. She still felt like jelly being next to him. When Leslie did finally come over, she pulled her over to a corner where she could talk to her privatly.
"What's he doing here?!" she asked in anticipation.
"I don't Ala, I just met the man a minute ago."
"You co-star with his brother. Drew must of had mentioned it."
"If he did I wasn't around. Mind you, I was too busy fretting about Jeff."
"Yeah, but because of it Nick's here!!!" Alayna exclaimed, placing her head in her hands.
"Ala, stop freaking out."
"What? Why?"
"Well it doesn't look like he recognizes you so......"
"So?"
"So you shouldn't worry. Its not like he was pounding you with questions."
"I think he's still a bit suspicious."
"So tell him!!"
"What? Why?!"
"It couln't hurt."
"But if I tell him, I'd tell him why I broke up with him and that get all cleared up. Then we'd become friends."
"So......?"
"Well I don't want to risk the fact that one day we decide to stop 'becoming' friends and want to make it lead to something else."
"I see." Leslie sighed.
"Do you want that?" she asked after a while.
"Sad but true."
"So why not?"
"Unlike your loverboy, Nick's not divorced. He's still married."
"Right....and Jeff is not loverboy."
"Uh huh."
"he isn't."
"Sure, I believe you."
"Anyway, back to you and Nick."
"What?"
"at least tell him. You don't have to make it become something. If it does, you can't stop fate. I think you should tell him."
Alayna bit her bottome lip. She sighed, then replied,
"All right."
"But you gotta tell him tonight. You don't know when he's leaving and I'm sure you don't want to miss this oppurtunity."
"Oh yes, why would I want to miss it." Alayna said sarcatically. Leslie narrowed her eyes at her and replied,
"If you don't tell him, I will."
"all right, all right, I will." Alayna sighed as they both walked over toward the guys.
"We were thinking, and how about if you guys like to have dinner. That way we can get to know each other." Drew said once they had reached them. Alayna gave Leslie a pleading look as she replied,
"Sounds like a plan to me."
"Alayna?" Nick asked. She sighed and answered,
"Sounds like fun."
They started to head out the building when Alayna nudged Leslie in the ribs.
"Ow, what was that for!"
"You just had to make us eat dinner."
"All the better to talk to Nick." Leslie simply replied.

Leslie's View

After the show, Leslie stood next to a corner backstage trying to hide and not be seen by Jeff, who was standing across the room from her.

“You did great,� Drew said walking up to her.

“Thanks. You too,� she said playing with the end of her shirt.

“You ok? You look nervous.�

“Um… yea…I’m fine.�

“You don’t look fine. What’s wrong?�

“Remember when I told you I would bump into somebody that I really didn’t want to?�

“Yea…�

“He’s right over there,� she said pointing towards Jeff and Alayna.

“Jeff…. Why don’t you go talk to him?�

“What do you mean go talk to him? I can’t….. I just….I just can’t,� she said looking down at the floor.

“Come on. You can’t keep running from him.�

“Why not?� she asked knowing that Drew was right, she couldn’t keep running from Jeff. She had to face him someday.

“Seriously…think about it. Do you still love him?�

She sighed. “Yea�

“Would you like to see what he feels for you, if he still loves you?�

“He’s ma…,� she started to say as Drew shook his head no.

“He’s divorced. Go talk to him…say hi,� Drew said as he pushed her towards the direction Jeff and Alayna were in. She slowly walked towards them as Drew tried pushing her in order to go faster. She was behind Jeff now. Drew pushed her a little and she turned and looked at him.

“Say hi,� he said through clenched teeth.

She took a deep breath and let it out then hit Jeff on the arm.

He hugged her tight for a while until they both stopped crying.

“I love you,� he whispered before pulling away and wiping away her tears.

“I love you too,� she said wiping away at his tears. They stared into each others eyes for a few before he broke the silence.

“I’ve missed you so much,� he said caressing her cheek.

“I’m sorry,� she said before looking down at the floor.

“It’s ok baby. I know you had to leave,� he said caressing her cheek. “Let’s just start fresh.�

“Ok… so how are you?� she smiled.

“I’m good…..I’m really happy to see you,� he said holding her face in his hands and pressing his forehead against hers, while looking into her eyes.

“How’s the kids?� she asked as he let go and looked down at the floor. “Sorry,� she said.

“It’s ok. I love my kids. I would really love for you to meet them. They would love you,� he said hoping she wouldn’t mind meeting them.

“Someday,� she said looking towards Drew and Alayna’s direction. Nick was now standing with them talking. “Isn’t that….. Nick Lachey?�

“Yea…wanna meet him?�

“Sure,� she smiled.

They headed towards their direction and Leslie introduced herself to Nick before being pulled aside by Alayna. Once the girls rejoined them they all decided to go to dinner together.

Alayna gave a grateful smile to Nick as he pulled out his chair for her and sat down. After they ordered, they started to chit-chat. It seemed pretty safe seeing as Jeff and Leslie kept on bringing up the past, which seemed very interesting to Drew. Eventually thought, the tables got turned and Leslie had decided to ask Nick about his high school past.
"So Nick, what school did you go to."
"Hello Cincinatti School of the Arts. Do you not read magazines?" Alayna asked annoyed. She didn't mean to snap at Leslie, she was just jumpy, especially around Nick.
"Magazines have misprints. They could of gotten it confused." Leslie replied, sticking her tongue out.
"To answer yes, I went to that school. Me and Drew."
"How'd you like it?"
"Pretty good school. I liked it there."
"Did you have any girlfriends?"
Alayna glared at Leslie as she looked over at Nick.
"Well...there was one."
"What about her. Or am I prying?"
"Well seeing as your Jeff's girl, what can it hurt." Nick laughed. Leslie nodded in anticipation as he continued.
"I went out with this girl. She actually had Alayna's name."
"What was her last name."
"Marie."
"Was she pretty."
"Yeah, she was pretty. In fact, she was beautiful. She was wonderful, she could make me laugh, smile, she knew everything about me."
"So if she was so wonderful what happened?"
Alayna could of shot Leslie. Why was she torturing her? Payback?
Nick frowned and sighed heavily while he replied,
"She left me for another guy senior year."
"really?"
"Yeah. We were even engaged. I thought she be my wife. But life brings unfortunate turns, and that was one of them."
"I'm sorry Nick."
"Its all right. You know, she was the one that pushed me to be a star. She was always telling me 'without a dream there is no reason to work...without work there is no reason to dream."
Everyone stopped looking at Nick and averted their eyes to Alayna. It wasn't the fact that Nick had said the quote, it was that Alayna had said it with him. Quickly realizing her mistake, she got up from her seat and mumbled,
"I got to go. Thanks for dinner guys." before quickly walking out of the resturant. A minute later, Nick went after her.
"I knew it work."
"you knew that was his Alayna?" Jeff asked.
"Yeah. I know, I'm good."
"Sneaky, sneaky." Jeff said, wrapping his arms around her.
"I know but guess where I got it from."
"Certainly not me."
"Oh get a room!!" Drew replied, seeing the two beginn in what he knew a heavey make-out session.

Nick looked blankless at Alayna, but then when he realized that she was his one and only, he got up and went after her. How could he be so dumb? Chapter 14

Leslie stuck her tongue out at Drew before turning her attention back to her little make out session with Jeff. She couldn’t believe she was in his arms again. She missed him so much. She heard Jeff groan as she broke away from his grasp and kiss, in order to answer her phone.

“Hello?� she said, as Jeff put his arm around her and talked to Drew.

“Hey Les,� C[arse]i said on the other end.

“Hey girl, how are you?� she asked, getting comfortable in Jeff's arms.

“I’m good. I saw RENT. You did great!� C[arse]i replied.

“Thanks girl.�

“Is Nick and Alayna ok? I just saw Nick trying to catch up to her,� she asked sounding concerned.

“She’ll be fine...I hope. Nick just found out who she was. I’ll explain later.� Leslie whispered into her cell, so that the guys wouldn’t hear her.

“Oh ok...um...I guess it’s my turn to face my ex, huh?�

“Yea...you’ll do fine,� she re[arse]ured her friend. She had finally convinced her to come visit her and talk to Drew in the process after 2 days of talking to her on the phone.

“Ok, I’ll see you in a few,� C[arse]i sighed.

“Alright, bye,� she said hanging up and turning her attention back to the guys. She talked with them until she saw C[arse]i walk into the restaurant from the corner of her eye. She excused herself and signaled to C[arse]i to follow her to the bathroom.

“Are you ok?� Leslie asked C[arse]i once they were in the restroom.

“Yeah...he looks...good,� she said nervously. “I can’t do this!�

“Yes you can. Just...talk to him. Go with the flow.� Leslie re[arse]ured her. “Forget about the past and start over.�

“I wish it was that easy. He's married now...I guess I’ll see. I have to face him someday. I guess today will be that day.�

“Yea...good luck,� she said hugging her than walking out of the bathroom as C[arse]i followed close behind. “Hey guys...um Jeff this is my friend C[arse]i.�

“Nice to meet you,� they both said and shook hands. Leslie looked at Drew who was now just staring at C[arse]i. As he slowly got up from his seat Leslie saw a tear run down his cheek. He walked p[arse]ed them and out of the restaurant.

“Go after him,� she said turning to C[arse]i.

“I’ll call you later,� C[arse]i hugged her before following Drew.

Leslie sat down next to Jeff who was giving her a confused look.

“Yes?� she asked him, as she sipped from her drink.

“Let me guess...Drew’s ex high school sweetheart?� he asked.

“Yeah� she said leaning her head on his shoulder. He responded by wrapping his arm around her shoulder. “I love you.�

“I love you too, baby,� he said kissing the top of her head.


***Ok, I know C[arse]i dropped out of the story, but I added her in there and left it open just in case one day she decides to jump back onboard, she'll be able to fill everyone in on that part. Sorry to leave everyone hanging there though. :) I hope you like it though. :)

Chapter 15
Nick continued to follow Alayna until he saw her slow down by a nearby park. Running over to her he exclaimed,
"Why didn't you wait for me?"
She turned around suprised, then said,
"You followed me. You actually followed me?"
"Yeah. So are you going to tell me what's up, or run from me again?" he saw her sigh and take a seat on a bench that was behind her.
"Nick, why do you want to talk to me? Remember you hate me. Once I was gone, you wanted me out of your life, for good."
Nick sighed as he took a seat beside. How did she find that out.
"Dominique." she mumbled, answering his thought. She was always good for doing that.
"That man could never keep his mouth shut." he mumbled, shaking his head.
"Yeah, and he made it clear that you wanted nothing to do with me."
"That's not true."
"Sure its is."
"you don't understand how I felt back then. I thought that you wanted to leave me for good."
"See that's where your wrong. You don't understand why I did what I did. You don't understand all the pressure that I..."
Realizing that she was saying too much, she turned and looked away.
"I want to know though Ali. I've always wanted to know." he said softly.
She was quiet for a second then said,
"You can't call me Ali anymore Nick. We don't go out anymore."
"Its still my name for you though."
"Why do you care. You left and became this super rich star with and went out with Ms. Beautiful and married her and....I'm just someone in the past. Someone you never really loved. Why care?"
Nick took her hand and shook his head.
"Because I really did loving. And, no matter how much I want to deny it, I will continue to love you."
"Nick, liars don't make friends."
"I thought secrets don't make friends." he smiled at her. She smiled back and shook her head.
"Either way works for me."
"Well I do Ms. Unbelievable. To think here we are a couple years later and you still don't think that anyone can love you."
Alayna smiled so before and was about to lean over and kiss him when his phone went off. Annoyed, Nick picked it up.
"hello."
"Nicholas!! Where are you?"
Nick groaned as he mumbled,
"Jessica."
Hearing him say her name, Alayna immediatly pulled her hands away from his.
"You went to New York without me? What the hell is your problem!!"
"Jess, I needed some time away from you."
"Nick, I'm going to go. Its late and I want to go to sleep." Alayna mouthed at him.
"Ali you don't have to go 'cause my wife is on the phone."
"Ali? Who's Ali?"
"she's my friend."
Alayna sighed in frustration hearing this and started to walk toward her hotel.
"Oh [bad word]!!"
"Nick, your friend? Have I met her before?"
"I gotta go Jess." he said, hanging up the phone and running in the direction he saw Alayna walk toward. He sighed in frustration when he saw that she was gone. He walked back to the bench and was going to leave when an idea occured to him.

Alayna smiled at one of her back up dancers as she made her way downstairs. She was going to go out with Leslie and Jeff and site-see, and then head out to dinner with them. She was thrilled when she was stepping out of the elevator, but her smile immediatly disapperead upon seeing Nick. She sighed as she walked over to Leslie, who was having a tickle fight with Jeff.
"Hey love birds, can we talk?"
"yeah." Jeff laughed, pulling Leslie toward him.
"I meant me and Les."
"Oh rightttttt One of those female talks."
"Jeff, just leave." Alayna said, shaking her head and pushing him away. He laughed as him and Nick started to talk.
"What is it?" Leslie asked.
"I was gonna excuse what happened last night at dinner, but when we were going site-seeing I thought it be me, you, Jeff, and Drew. Not me, you, Jeff and NICK!!"
Leslie sighed.
"he know's where this great mall is so we can go shopping and it even has a roller coaster inside and you know, we thought it be fun. I remember you once told me you like to ride rollercoasters."
"Where's Drew?"
"Oh, something came up with him and a past aquaintence. I don't think we'll be seeing him sometime soon."
"Your just hooking everyone up, arent' you?" Alayna laughed.
"I'm happy, I want you guys to be happy with me." Leslie nodded.
Alayna sighed as she looked toward Nick. She had to admit, he was looking good. He had on a blue shirt that went well with his eyes and some jeans that was doing wonders for his butt.
"I guess.....but he's married Les. Why would he want me?" she whined. Leslie rolled her eyes.
"Why wouldn't he, your beautful and funny, and..... just come on. Do it for me, please, please, please.....?"
"Fine." alayna sighed giving in. She followed Leslie back to Nick and Jeff just as Nick asked,
"So are you guys ready?"
"Ready then we'll ever be." Alayna said, looking over at a smiling Leslie.

Chapter 16

Jeff was finally happy that Leslie was back in his life. He watched as she softly breathed in and out while she slept. He fell asleep dreaming about what his life would be like now that she was back in it.

“Mmm,� he moaned, slightly waking up as he felt soft kisses running down his chest.

“Wake up sleepyhead,� Les whispered in his ear.

“Mmm… I wouldn’t mind waking up to that every morning,� he mumbled, wrapping his arms around her, pulling her closer to him.

“I know you wouldn’t,� she kissed him. “Come on get up, Nick is waiting in the other room.� She pulled him up so that he was sitting down with her on top of him.

“What is he doing here?� he groaned, as he began kissing her neck.

“Mmm…He screwed it up with Ala yesterday so he figured he’d try and fix it today…mmm… Now stop that before he hears us,� She said getting off of him and walking to the other room. He got out of bed and got ready then walked to the other room where he found them sitting on the couch watching football.

“You watch football, baby?�

“I have no idea what’s going on, but come on…. It’s a whole bunch of guys in tights, running after each other, knocking one other to the ground. How can I NOT watch?�

“OK!….Iâ€ˊ“m not in the mood to watch football anymore,â€ÂÂ� Nick said, grabbing the remote and shutting the TV off.

“So, where are we meeting Ala?� Jeff asked, kissing Les on the forehead.

“In front of the elevator… she should be coming soon,� Les replied, looking at the time.

“Ok, so let’s go,� Nick said, as they all went out to the hall to wait for Ala. After thy met up with her they headed for the mall.

Alayna looked over at Les who was flirting with Jeff. How could she do this to her? She did NOT want to be at the mall....well, she wanted to be at the mall, but not with Nick. She spotted a clothes shop and turned to them,
"I'm going in there real quick. You guys mind?"
They all nodded their heads no and she nodded. After buying a shirt she walked out the store. To her dismay, Nick was still out there, with Jeff and Les no where to be found.
"Where'd they go?" Alayna asked, looking around. Nick snapped out of his thoughts.
"They decided to go out and explore without us. Hope you don't mind."
"Mind...not at all." she said, fiegning a fake smile. She grumbled past him toward Bath & Body Works. He sighed and followed her. She was looking at a bath set when he walked behind her,
"I wasn't aware you liked lavender bath gel."
Alayna jumped suprised and sighed seeing Nick.
"Yeah...I started liking it a while back."
"Oh." he looked around and picked up a bottle.
"You don't like honey ginger anymore?" She turned to him shocked, then asked,
"What?"
"honey ginger. You used to love it when we went shopping. In fact, I'd save money out of my paycheck, trying to get that for you."
Alayna looked the other way and Nick sighed. He went to the cash register and bought the bottle. Then he walked back toward Ayla.
"here."
"No...its all right."
"I doubt anyone will want to be around me once they catch a whiff of this on me. Take it...my treat."
She looked at him and nodded.
"Thanks."
"No problem." he smiled. She smiled back and walked out of the store. She started to walk around when she spotted a merry-go-round. That was something she hadn't been on in a while.
"You wanna ride it?"
Alayna jumped and turned around to look at him.
"Yeah...I like that."
He smiled and they both walked toward it. Finally their turn came and they were up. Alayna found her seat easily, but unfortunatly a little 5 year old had gotten to Nick's. He sighed as he walked toward her.
"I don't have a horse."
Alayna looked around and smiled up at him.
"So hold on to mine. You used to do it....see no harm in doing it now."
"you sure?"
"Positive." she smiled at him. He smiled back and they started to move around.
"So...your a singer now. How's that like?"
"Its fun. In fact, its great."
"I thought you always wanted to be an artist."
"I still draw....I just...you know, started to sing at the beginning of my marriage. It comforted me, and when I realized I actually had a knack for it, I decided to pursue it."
"You always were multi-talened."
"Well....I was always with you. I guess you just rubbed off on me."
"Oh really?" he asked, bending down. Alayna held her breath and nodded.
"Really." she whispered before Nick's lips came crashing down on her. They stood like that for the rest of the ride until it stopped. Alayna pulled away and looked down.
"Nick we.....we shouldn't be doing this. I gotta go."
"Alayna I..."
"This is wrong.....I....I gotta go." she said again, running off the ride and heading to go find Leslie and Jeff.
'Smart one Lachey, smart one' Nick inwardly sighed, walking off the ride trying to figure out how to win Alayna's heart.

“Hey Nick, don’t screw it up this time!� Jeff said, hitting him on the arm before walking away with Les. They decided to give him and Alayna some time alone.

“I hope Ala doesn‘t hate us for just leaving.�

“She’ll get over it. Now, what do you wanna do?� Jeff asked, wrapping his arms around her waist as they walked around the mall.

“Anything is fine.�

“Are you sure?�

“Yea, just as long as I’m with you,� she said, tapping his nose with her finger.

“Ok,� he said kissing her softly on the lips. They walked around and went into a few stores for awhile before spotting the indoor Ferris wheel. They decided to get on it.

“Baby?�

“Mm…� Les asked, taking her gaze away from the floor, which was now farther away from her feet then she wanted it to be.

“I don’t want to lose you again. I want to try and make this relationship work, even if we are in different states.�

“Are you sure we can make this work out?� she asked, holding on to him and not letting go afraid that she might fall.

“I’m willing to try it. I love you….. I’ve always loved you. I can’t…. I can’t lose you again,� he said, pulling her closer to him. The wheel had made a stop and they were at the very top now.

“Jeff…�

“Yea, baby?�

“Did I ever tell you I was scared of heights?�

“I am too baby, but I’m holding onto you. We're not going to fall.� He kissed her softly as the Ferris wheel began to move again. Once the ride was over and they were finally on the ground they decided to sit down on a nearby bench.

“Let’s not get on that again,� she laughed nervously.

“I won’t argue with you on that,� he kissed her forehead.

“Ala?� Les asked spotting her walking towards them with Nick nowhere in sight.

“Are you ok?� Jeff asked concerned.

“Yea, I just… Les, can I talk to you?� she asked stopping in front of them.

“Yea, I have to use the restroom anyway,� she said, kissing Jeff and walking away with Alayna. When they were finally in the restroom - making sure that no one was around - Alayna told Les what had happened.

“So, he kissed you?�

“Yes!�

“…and the problem is? Well, other then Jessica…. But come on you kissed him back didn’t you?

“That’s not the point.�

“You liked it, right?�

“LES!!!!�

“What?! I’m just saying. You’re reunited with your ex. The both of you still have feelings for each other. You kissed. Do you see where I’m going with this?�

“We just can’t. He’s….. Jessica…… ugh! Why is life so complicated?�

“I have no idea, but the guy is trying to win you back. Just let him know how you feel and see what happens from there.�

Alayna let out a sigh as she leaned on the bathroom sink. “I’ll think about it.�

“Ok… now come on I don‘t want to leave Jeff alone out there too long. Who knows what may happen?� Les said as they both laughed.</span>

Chapter 19
Alayna walked back out with Les and saw that Nick had joined Jeff. She stopped upon seeing him but Les continued to push her toward them. She grumbled as they moved next to them.
"Hey, you guys got all your girly feelings out the way?" Jeff asked, turning around and smiling at them. She nodded as he wrapped his arms around Les.
"cool. We were thinking about going back home seeing as it's getting late."
She looked down at her clock, then back up at him.
"I didn't realize three o'clock was late, but I forgot that some people were on a curfew so...."
"hey, you are too!!! Don't try and pull that on me." he shot back.
She rolled her eyes again and looked toward Les.
"Do you wanna go?"
"I don't care. Just as long as I'm with Jeff." she shrugged, smiling up at Jeff. She made a gagging sound as Les slapped her. She laughed and looked toward Nick. He was looking down at the ground, pretending to ignore what was going on.
"Do you wanna go?"
He shrugged.
"Its your call."
She nodded and looked around. She really didn't want to be here, but she did want to shop. She sighed. Even if she did shop somewhere else she'd be alone, and then she be thinking of Nick.
"Let's go."
They all walked out of the room, and soon they were at the hotel.
"Hey Les, can I talk for you a sec."
Les nodded and walked away from Jeff.
"What is it?"
"Think that me and you can spend some time together?"
"Ummm...." she looked down at her fingers.
"What?"
"Me and Jeff sort of wanted to spend the evening alone."
She growled and shook her head.
"all right then, you should go."
"No Ayla....umm, hmmmm, how about we go spend time together tomorrow. Then Nick and Jeff can spend some time together also and possibly catch up with Drew."
She nodded.
"fine....call me later on tonight or tomorrow morning for the details."
"all right." she smiled, running off toward Jeff. Alayna sighed watching her friend. She was really happy for her, there was no doubt about that, but she was a tiny bit jealous. Jeff was a great guy-cute, good looking, charming, funny-and Nick.......Nick was everything she could of dreamed of in a man. How much she wanted to tell him the real reason why she had broke up with him so many summers ago. She shook her head as she walked into her hotel room, awaiting the mess she had left earlier. Instead her room was spotless, and instead of magazines being on the table was a vase of tulips. She walked over smelling the beautiful flowers and smiled noticing a note by its side. She picked it up and read:

She smiled. She liked the poem, it was cute and creative. Scotty....scotty...who was Scotty? She didn't quite remember, in fact she didn't even know many Scott's. She re-read the card again....a quarter 'till eight. Did that mean she should dress up? She decided that she would, awaiting to see who this "Scotty" was.

Alayna nervously applied her lip gloss on when she heard a knock on the door. Checking herself again, she ran to the door and slowly opened it. She was surprised when she saw Nick on the other side.
"Hi Nick....what are you doing here?" she asked confused. He smiled at her.
"So you actually want to go out for the evening?"
"Huh?"
"The tulips...I know there your favorite." Alayna nodded. Scotty......now she remembered. It was her nick-name for him back when they were in high school.
"Yeah...ummm, are we going out for dinner?"
"I thought that be nice." he said, extending his arm out. Alayna grabbed her purse and key, and the held on to his arm.
"Where are we going?"
"This little place I know. I've heard it was good and thought that you wouldn't mind."
"Are you sure this is okay."
"I'm pretty sure it is. And if it isn't...oh well."
Alayna nodded as they silently took the elevator down. There he escorted her out a black limo.
"Nick..?" she asked uncertainly. He looked at her and nodded for her to go in and she obeyed. The ride was silent, and Alayna was relieved when the limo had stopped. Once again she was escorted toward a large building. The took the elevator up...way up, until finally they stopped. Nick smiled at her and she smiled back. Les's words kept floating her head....what was she scared of. They were escorted to thier seat, where the quietly enjoyed dinner. When it was over Alayna sighed. Nick hadn't said a thing during the whole meal, and she really wanted to talk to him. Of course, Alayna being Alayna wouldn't make the first move...that was his job. They were walking out of the building when she spotted a horse carriage.
"Oh.....I always wanted to ride one of those. Of course Garret never really liked those sort of things so...."
"Were riding it."
"Really?" she asked surprised, looking up at him. He nodded as he escorted her toward the carriage and helped her in. They started to take off when she said,
"Nick, I need to tell you something."
"About time. This silence has been killing me."
She laughed and nudged him. He always had to make things the difficult way.
"Well....it has to deal with the summer I broke up with you."
"all right...."
"I did it because..." she started to drift and looked away. Nick grabbed her chin and made her face him.
"You can tell me....I promise I won't get mad."
She smiled agan and took a deep breathe in.
"Its not like I didn't want to marry you. I did...oh Nick I was so looking forward to the day I would say I do. But the day I was gonna tell my dad....he had made this huge agreement with a local buisness owner. His company would of made it big but the guy who was selling the company said he only give it to my dad under one circumstance..."
Nick urged her to continue.
"He had heard that he had this beautiful daughter, me, and was looking for someone to be a suited wife for his son, Garret. But dad immediatly jumped on the deal and that was when he told me that I was engaged. I did try telling you....it was so hard though. I didn't know how to tell you, and when I finally did have the balls too, you left me.
"Garret was horrible. I thought he'd be a cool guy to be with since I knew I couldn't love him, but I was wrong. After the marriage he changed. His gambling habits were horrible, which drove him to drink. Sometimes he would come home and hit me, other times he would force himself on me. I know this is bad, but I was relieved when I got that phone call implying he died in a plane crash. It was the same day I was able to breathe again..."
Alayna had started crying at this point and Nick had wrapped his amrms around her.
"But you don't have to worry about that." he whispered in her ear once she had simmered down.
"Why?" she asked looking up.
"'Cause I know how to make all the pain go away. Always have and always will." he said, before his lips came crashing down on her's. Alayna smiled and wrapped her arms around him, pulling him tighter to her.

Chapter 20

“Jeff, what are you doing?� Les asked, as he tied a cloth around her eyes before entering her apartment.

“You’ll see in a few baby,� he whispered, as he slightly pulled her into the apartment and shut the door behind her.

“Mmm…. Jeeefffff….,� she softly said as he slowly kissed her neck and took the cloth off of her eyes. She breathed in deeply as she took in the scene. There were rose petals everywhere that were leading to the middle of the dining room where she saw a candle lit dinner. “This…� she began as he turned her around to face him, “… is so beautiful.� They kissed and stood like that for a few before Jeff pulled away.

“I love you baby,� he said, kissing her softly on the cheek. “Come on.� He took her by the hand and led her towards the candle lit dinner that awaited them. He pulled her chair out for her before running to the kitchen to get the food. When he came back he placed the plates on the table before sitting across from her. They ate as they talked about all of the things that they did back in high school.

“I remember our first date,� she smiled, “you were always a romantic.�

“I was so nervous that day. I wanted everything to be perfect…. you were perfect….you’re still perfect,� he smiled as they looked into each others eyes.

“Our little picnic under the stars on top of our hill,� she said.

“So many memories on that hill…,� he said, before remembering the last thing that happened between them on it.

“I’m sorry,� she whispered, as a tear rolled down her cheek.

“It’s ok baby,� he said, getting up and bringing her to her feet. “You’re here with me now…we’re together again.� He wrapped his arms around her as she cried softly against his chest. “I love you.�

“I love you too,� she whispered, wiping away at her tears before looking up at Jeff as he bent his head down and kissed her.

The next morning Nick and Alayna woke up to a ringing phone.
"You wanna get it or me?" she mumbled, snuggling closer to him.
"I can do it." he said, leaning over and grabbing the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hello?"
"Yeah."
"Umm....is Alayna there."
"She's sleeping right now. Who's speaking and I'll tell her to call later."
"Umm...just tell her Les wants to know when to meet up."
"Oh hey Les, its Nick. Wait a sec, I'll wake her up real quick."
"all right." she said as Nick nudged her.
"what?" Alayna whined.
"Its Les."
"Oh, all right." she sighed, sitting up and grabbing the phone.
"Hey Les."
"Hey girl. So your not going to get involved with him eh?"
Alayna blushed and giggled.
"It wasn't expected, it just happened."
"I heard."
"Oh hush. So, what is it that you want?"
"What time do you want to meet up?"
Alayna looked over at the clock and shrugged.
"Eleven sound good to you."
"sure."
"well, eleven it is."
"All right, talk to you later."
"See you then." Alayna said hanging up the phone. She looked over at a amused Nick who was flipping through channels.
"What?"
"It wasn't expected?" he asked, [friend]ing a brow. Alayna sighed and shook her head.
"I'm not going to answer that."
"Why not?"
"Cause."
"Cause why?"
"Just cause."
"I see." he smiled, then leaned over to her.
"Hmm boy, have I missed you." he said, before leaning down and kissing her. Alayna smiled as she pulled him closer to her and kissed him back.
"Me too Lachey, me too." she said once they pulled away.
"So what's up with you and Les."
"Me and her are going to spend some time together today."
"I thought that you wanted to spend some time with me." he said, snuggling his face in her neck. She smiled.
"Nick, you just wanna get laid."
"I do not. I want to spend some time with you."
"I do too but hon," she pointed to his empty left finger.
"Regardless of you taking off your wedding ring, your legally still married to your wife. I'm already sort of leary just being lovey dovey with you, but I couldn't actually sleep with you, knowing good and darn well that your married."
Nick sighed.
"I know. I'm gonna tell her when I get home."
"All right." she smiled.
"Now I'm gonna go and jump into the shower."
"I'll be waiting." Nick smiled. Alayna laughed.
"I bet."

Eleven came and pretty soon the girls had started to shop. They bought everything, shoes, purses, shirts, pants, dresses, anything that caught their eye they bought. When they both decided it was time to take a little shopping break, they stopped by a nearby chinese resturant to eat lunch.
"So Ala." Les said, once they had decided on what they wanted.
"Yeah."
"What's up with you and Nick?"
Alayna blushed.
"well.....you know, last night we were talking and I told him everything that had happened and why we did it. Then we came back and had a few drinks and Nick ended up spending the night. We didn't do anything because we feel its best that we progress in our relationship after the divorce is finalized. But were gonna give each other another chance."
"That's good. I knew you two would get together."
"Oh shush." Alayna said, sticking her tongue out.
"What about you and Jeff. What did you two do last night?"
"Well....we just had a romantic dinner and stuff."
"Cute."
"Yeah...I'm just so happy because it feels like everything right now is going right."
"I know. When's the next showing of the play?"
"Next week. I heard you guys leave in two days too."
"Yeah, that sucks but its all part of the job."
"Yeah." Les nodded as she took a sip of her coke. They started some more small chit-chat as they started to eat their food when suddenly a young blonde walked up to them.
"Hey, aren't you Alayna, that new singer?"
"Yeah." Alayna said, giving Les a wierd glance. She only shrugged.
"Wow, can I have your autograph."
"Sure." she smiled, putting down her fork as the woman handed her a piece of notepad paper.
"What's your name?" she asked, looking up.
"Oh, its Melany."
"All right...here you go."
"Thanks...umm, can I ask you something."
"Sure."
"Do you and Nick Lachey go out or something?"
"what?"
"Did Nick divorce Jessica or something?"
"What?" she asked again, this time looking at Les who looked just as confused as she did.
"In this paper there's a picture of and Nick making out at the mall so I'm just [arse]uming..."
"Can I see that?" Alayna asked, cutting her off.
"Sure. Nice to meet you again Alayna, and can't wait for your new single."
"Thanks." she said, giving a soft smile and then looking down at the paper.
"Oh my gosh." she groaned, dropping the paper and shaking her head.
"What? I wanna see." Les said, reaching over and grabbing the paper. Her eyes grew big.
"Ohhhh, that's not good." she said, looking up from the paper.
"What?"
"Did you read this?"
"No."
"You wanna do the pleasure or me."
"Go ahead" Alayna sighed. Les cleared her throat and begin to read,

The heatwave continues to get hotter as Nick Lachey (31) and newcomer artist Alayna (25) were seen locking lips at a local New York mall yesterday. Apparently the two were riding a merry-go-round when Nick bent down and shared a p[arse]ionate kiss with the young artist.
"She seemed really upset afterwards, like he had offended her" One on looker says who saw the couple getting hot and heavy at the mall.
"She ignored him the the rest of the time, and they left together like they were complete strangers."

Another on looker comments that "later on Nick took her to a real nice resturant and a horse carriage around the park." Our guess is that he was trying to make amends about what happened earlier. The on looker (who doesn't want to be mentioned) continues to say,
"They looked really cozy together, and they kissed a lot too."
Our question is, could this be the beginning of another star couple?
Nick, who will be starring in Charmed next month, is married to pop sensation Jessica Simpson. Alayna, on the other hand, is touring with Jeff Timmons (former 98 Degrees member) and is currently single. But the question still isn't answered. Are Nick and Alayna dating?
"Nick isn't wearing his wedding ring in either pictures shown, so my guess is no," Say's Bongo's editor Liz Mackny.
"But the new questions is, did Nick and Jess divorce or is there a huge love triangle we aren't aware of?"

Chapter 22

Since the girls were spending time together Jeff and Nick decided to hang out and catch up on things. After walking around and signing some autographs for fans they decided to stop at a little diner and eat, which is also where they were going to meet up with Drew. While they waited they ordered food and talked.

“So, you kissed her?� Jeff asked.

“Yea.. I’m still in love with her? I don’t know what to do.� Nick said as his cell began to ring.

“Hey baby,� he said recognizing Jessica's number.

“Don‘t ‘hey baby’ me! You go off to New York and kiss another woman? How could you Nick?!� Jessica yelled.

“Jess, what are you talking about?� He asked as he saw Drew walk up to them and place an article in front of him. He pointed to the picture as he took a seat next to Jeff.

“Oh [crap]!� he said hanging up on Jess and looking at the picture.

“I leave you alone for one day and you get caught kissing Ala?� Drew asked looking at his brother. Jeff grabbed the magazine from Nick’s hands and looked at the picture.

“Damn, Nick. How are you going to get out of this one?� Jeff asked.

“I’m in deep…� Nick said, placing his head in his hands, “What have you been up to?� he asked, picking up his head and looking at Drew.

“I’ve had some things I needed to get straighten out.� he said, looking down at the table.

“You alright, man?� Jeff asked, wondering what had happened after Drew left the restaurant that night.

“Yea… I just never really thought I would see her again,� he said.

“So, what are you two going to do?� Nick asked concerned, hoping that his little brother wouldn’t make the same mistake that he made.

“Well, C[arse]i and I talked about what we thought we should do,� Drew sighed, “I still love her. I never got over her,� he paused for a moment before continuing. “I talked to Lea about it and we’re going to take some time off from our relationship to see what happens between C[arse]i and me.�

“Wow, she’s so understanding,� Nick said surprised.

“Yea, too understanding. But she said she wants me to be happy so we’ll see,� Drew said as Jeff’s cell rang.

“Hello?�

“You’re off for 3 days and you can’t come to see your own kids!� Trish yelled on the other end.

“What?! Trish?"

“I saw the article on Nick and Alayna! [arse]uming she’s in NY since you just did a concert there my guess is you are too! You can’t even get your butt down here to see your kids on your day off! What type of father are you?!�

“Trish…I†¦.â€Â� Jeff tried to make out.

“I thought so!� she yelled. before hanging up the phone. Jeff let out a sigh as he looked at Nick and Drew.

“You hearing it, too?� Nick laughed.

“Yea,� Jeff said, shaking his head as the food arrived.

Alayna shook her head as Les and her headed back toward the hotel.
"Girl, calm down."
"Calm down? Calm down! My first scandal is printed in a worldwide newspaper and you want me to calm down? And nevertheless.........its with a married man. And not just a married man, Nick Lachey of all people!! Gosh, what the hell was I thinking."
Les sighed as she rubbed her back.
"I know what your feeling but you can't freak out. Its bad for you."
Alayna sighed.
"I know....its just this. I wanted to be one of those clean stars."
Leslie laughed.
"Girl, no star is a clean star. They all have had thier fun."
"I guess." Alayna said, giving her a small smile. By this point of time they had reached their hotel.
"I think I'm gonna go upstairs and think."
"Think?"
"Yeah." Alayna nodded.
"All right. Give me a call if you need anything." Les said hugging her.
"I will." she said, hugging her back. They departed and Alayna headed for her room. She turned on her cell phone and noticed that she had missed a couple of calls. Deciding to listen to them, she dialed her voicemail and begin to listen to her calls.

Three new messages. First un-heard message
This is Dillian Ala. I just got a newspaper and guess who I saw in it. You, smooching all over Mr. Lachey. Give me a call, we need to talk. Nothing bad, but we need to get this figured out for the press. Bye.
'Great, just what I need." Alayna groaned as another message came on the machine.
Second un-heard message
Hey Ala it's your mom. Why and the hell where you kissing upon another man, a married man for that matter? You know I taught you better than that. And anoth-
Alayna immediatly clicked to the last message, not wanting to hear her mothers voice.
Last un-heard message
Hey Ala, its me Nick. Ummm, I just wanted to call and see how you were doing. Someway to get the public to find out about us. And I was hoping to tell them after my divorce was finalized. Well, I hope that this hasn't shooken you up a bit and I'm sorry for all of this. Don't make it seem like this is all your fault....I have to take some of the blame, well mostly all of it. If it wasn't for me being so forward none of this would've happened anyways. Well, ummm, I'll be by your room later just to check up on you and everything....sort of got to talk to my wife of mine. Well, I'll talk to you later and don't forget that I love you. Very much so. Bye."

Alayna stared down at her phone and sighed. He had said that he had loved her. Very much so. She dropped on the couch and sighed. He couldn't love her. She didn't want him too. She just wanted him to go away, like he had made him do so many summers ago. She didn't want to hurt him again. She got up from the bed and started to pack her things. She had to disappear. She didn't want him to stop his perfect life just to cater to her. She wrote a note and quickly left the room. She slipped it underneath his hotel room door and slowly walked toward the elevator. She pushed the down button, and slowly watched the hall disappear.

"Jessica let me explain."
"Explain what. Did you have sex with her too?"
"No. She didn't want to go that far and I didn't nither."
"But kissing her was all right?"
"You don't understand..."
"Who is she? This Alayna?"
"She's on tour with Jeff and..."
"I know all that, I read it. I even went to her little website. What I want to know is what is she too you?"
Nick sighed.
"someone."
"Someone? Someone?! She's part of a scandal with my husband and she's just someone."
"I used to date her in High School all right."
There was silence.
"you lied."
"what?"
"That night before we kissed. We were in the car and talking about relationships. I asked you if you would ever go back out with an ex-girlfriend and you said you wouldn't."
"Jess..." Nick sighed.
"Don't 'Jess' me!" he heard her scream. Nick could tell she was beginning to cry and shut-up.
"You said it would always be me but you lied. You could push everyone away Nicholas but her. She was always in your heart. I could tell before you went out that you were heartbroken. I thought it was just from a previous heartbreak, but it was so much more than that."
"Jessica I..."
"But fine, go to her. When you come back home, expect me to be gone and you be left with our divorce papers."
Nick sighed as he heard the dial tone and opened up his hotel door. He just wanted to sleep it all away but stopped short when he noticed something on the floor. He picked it up and read it. His emotions went from anger to pain. She couldn't be gone again. Why was she always protecting him? He ran out the door and walked toward Jeff's room. He pounded on the door and waited for someone to answer.
"Yeah." It was Les.
"Where's Jeff?"
"He's here but-"
He pushed past her into the room where Jeff was watching TV. He muted it upon seeing Nick.
"What's wrong?"
"This is what's wrong." Nick said, throwing the piece of paper at him. Jeff looked at him before picking it up.
"Are you all right."
"I won't be if I don't find her again."
"What are you talking about?" Les asked.
"Just read." he said, pointing toward the note.

Jeff looked up from the paper and toward Nick who was now sitting in a chair with his head in his hands.

"Man.....I'm sorry."

"I am too." he said after a while. There was silence and Les decided to speak up.

"What about you and Jessica."

"We decided its best to break up. By the time I get home the divorce papers should be drawn out."

"You decided?"

"I think were both tired of trying to save something that wasn't there from the beginnning..."

"Wasn't there?" Jeff asked confused.

From what he recalled Nick showed the epitome of love when him and Jessica were together.

"I wanted to believe in love so much after Ala left that I guess I tried to much." he sighed.

He got up, wiping his eyes.

"I think I'm gonna go back home to Cincinnati for a while. To think."

"Nick.....don't worry over this. Me, Jeff, Drew.....we'll all talk to her about this. I know she loves you as much as she say's she does. She's just scared....your the only person she ever loved and she's already hurt you. She doesn't know how to react to this and all." Les said, rubbing his back.

"Thanks." he said, giving her a short smile.

She smiled back as he walked out of the room. Les sighed and turned to Jeff.

"We seriously got to figure out something." she said after a while. Jeff nodded.



Pretty soon the weekend was over and Jeff had to go and head off to his next destination, Seattle, Washington.

"You sure you got it figured out?" Les asked.

She had just called him as he was walking off his plane.

"Yeah, I got it figured out. You just got to make sure that you and Drew come along with your part."

"We already have gone over it...don't worry." she said.

Jeff laughed and nodded.

"All right, all right. I got to go."

"Wait I have to....nevermind."

"What?"

"Ummm, I'll just tell you later. Its nothing important."

"You sure?"

"Positive. Bye babe, love ya."

"Love ya too, bye." Jeff said, hanging up the phone.

He got into a taxi and headed toward his hotel, where Alayna was awaiting him.

~Meanwhile~
Alayna was reading a book in her hotel room waiting for Jeff to come when her cell phone went off.

"Hello?" she asked, picking up her phone.

"Hey Ala, its Les."

"Hey.....how'd you get my number?"

"Jeff."

"Oh yeah." she laughed.

"You dork."

"Yeah......" she drifted off.

"What?"

"Sorry for leaving like that but I just......."

"You can't run away from your problems Ala."

"I know." she sighed, closing her book.

"I didn't know how to and...."

"He loves you a lot. Drew tells me that he's been going out his mind trying to figure out how to get you back."

"He shouldn't worry. He has Jess and-"

"There divorced." Les cut her off.

"Oh." she was silent.

"I didn't call to lecture you. I have a problem."

"A problem? Speak up." Alayna shifted in bed.

"Me and Jeff....were getting serious you know."

"Uh huh."

"And he has kids...."

"I know. There so cute. They came out to rehersals back in L.A. They are the cutest things in the world."

"Yeah, I know. Not personally but...anyways you know their mother, Trish, she's really mad at Jeff."

"Uh huh."

"Well one of her friends happen to work with me. Me being dumb me gave her friend my cell number, and her friend gave it to Trish. Now she's been calling me asking me to tell Jeff to bring the kids."

"Oh....that sucks."

"She's nice but I wish she stopped calling. And get this, she wants me to take the kids for a weekend. Guess that Michelle-"

"Wait, who's Michelle?"

"The friend that gave Trish my number."

"Right."

"Well Michelle must've told her that me and Jeff are serious. I don't know....don't you think that I shouldn't be in the middle of this?"

"Its not fair. Besides, what do the kids think of you?"

"I don't know!! That's the worst thing. I just, I feel like I'm in a jam."

"I'm in one so I know how you feel. But you know what you have to do, right?"

"No..."

"You gotta tell Jeff."

"Tell me what?" A voice asked. Alayna looked up and saw Jeff at the doorway.

Chapter 25

“You sure you got it figured out?" Les asked.

She had just called him as he was walking off his plane.

"Yeah, I got it figured out. You just got to make sure that you and Drew come along with your part."

"We already have gone over it...don't worry." she said.

Jeff laughed.

"All right, all right. I got to go."

"Wait I have to....nevermind."

"What?"

"Ummm, I'll just tell you later. Its nothing important."

"You sure?"

"Positive. Bye babe, love ya."

"Love ya too, bye." Jeff said, as Les hung up her cell.

‘This is going to be fun’, she thought to herself as she sat down on one of the seats in the theatre. She hoped their little plan worked out.

*Flashback*

Drew and Jeff sat on the couch of Les’ apartment trying to figure out how they were going to get Alayna and Nick back together. Each of them were just shooting out ideas for the moment until something sounded good.

“How about we get Nick on stage to sing to Ala during one of the concerts?� Drew asked.

“Nah.. That wouldn‘t work.� Jeff said, shaking his head.

“Why not?� Drew asked.

“Ala would just leave right after the show without talking to anybody. It wouldn’t do any good.� Les said as her cell phone rang. “Um...I’ll be right back,� she said looking at the number and realizing who it was. She walked to the bedroom and closed the door behind her before answering it. “If this is about what we talked about earlier my answer is still no!�

“Look Ms. Thing! If you want to be a part of Jeff’s life you’re going to be a part of everything that includes him...meaning his two kids.�

“I never said I didn’t want to be a part of his kids life. He decides when he wants...�

“Screw him...�

“Too late for that!�

“Look [nice person]! You’re coming to pick them up and take them to see their father!�

“I’m not doing anything! I don‘t have time for this...BYE!� Les said hanging up and taking a deep breath. ’What am I going to do?’ she mumbled under her breath as she walked back out into the living room.

“You okay, babe?� Jeff asked wrapping his arm around her as she sat next to him.

"Yea, I'm ok," she nodded.

“We came up with an idea,� Drew said, placing his hands on the back of his head and stretching...
*End flashback*

She jumped once she felt someone tap her shoulder.

“Hey, sorry about that,� Drew said, taking a seat next to her.

“It’s alright.�

“Hey, you called Ala yet?� he asked as someone called him from the stage.

“I was just about to.�

“Alright, I’ll talk to you later,� he said running towards the stage.

She took her cell phone out and dialed Alayna’s number. She talked to her for a few and than she told her about her little Trish problem.

….."Well Michelle must've told her that me and Jeff are serious. I don't know....don't you think that I shouldn't be in the middle of this?"

"It's not fair. Besides, what do the kids think of you?" Ala asked.

"I don't know!! That's the worst thing. I just, I feel like I'm in a jam."

"I'm in one so I know how you feel. But you know what you have to do, right?"

"No..." Les said, even though she knew what Ala was going to say next.

"You gotta tell Jeff."

"Tell me what?" she heard Jeff ask on the other end.

"Tell you that..... you are about ten minutes early then you shuold be!" I smiled getting off the bed and walking toward him. I gave him a hug and asked,
"how long have you been there and how did you get my card key."
"Rememeber....were sharing these two suits. And I've been there for as long as you've been on the phone to whoever it is."
"Did you here anything important."
"Only to tell me whatever needs to be told." he said, raising a brow.
"Right." I nodded, then ran toward the bed.
"She's still on the line!" I screamed, running and picking up the phone.
"'Ello?"
"Forget all about me eh?"
"Sowwy..."
"Well...I'll let you go...only because it seems your busy."
"All right chicky, talk to you later."
"Bye bye." I said, quickly hanging up the phone.

"Well sorry for asking." Jeff said, raising his hands in a offending matter.I rolled my eyes and walked toward him.

"All right." he shrugged, walking toward his bedroom.

~At the same time at LAX Airport~
"I don't believe that him and his little girlfriend are going to go out and do that!! Hello, last time I recalled, he was the father of Alyssa and Jeff too. Or did he forget like he does everything else." A mad Trish muttered toward her friend, Michelle, while pulling Alyssa along.
"I know. You should have seen those two together. Its like they don't quit." Michelle said in annoyed voice. This made Trish even more mad as they found there terminal. Trish sat down, Alyssa by her side, and Jeff Jr. to her right.
"This is the last straw. He's always calling me up and telling me how much he misses and loves his kids, and how he wish he could be the perfect father. Well you know what. I'm tired of him, and his stupid girlfriend. He can have the kids!!"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa Trish. Isn't that a little to far?"
"No!! I want to relax and I can't 'cause I have to watch them. He can babysit the kids for all I care."
The stewardess started calling plane rows and Trish turned to her friend.
"Just drop them off. It'll be simple. Then tell that little raunchy girlfriend of his to come pick 'em up, seeing as how close her and Jeff seem to have gotten."
Michelle nodded as she grabbed Alyssa's hand and started to push little J's stroller into the line.
"And I'll call you when I get to Vegas!" Trish yelled, before disappering and turning around to find her own plane to catch.

~Still A Couple Of Miles Away~
Nick sat in his bed, contemplating what to do. He hadn't showered in a week and his morning beard was turning more to a two year growth. There was a knock on the door and he gruffed,
"What?"
"Nick." his mother, Cate, walked into the room, a tray of cookies and milk in her hand.
Nick noticed what she was carrying and got up from his semi-permanent spot on the bed. Cate sighed as she walked to one of the windows and opened the blinds. She turned to her son and sighed some more.
"This is ridiculos Nick. You stink, you look like a bum, and mooping in your room isn't getting you anywhere.
"What's the use of doing anything anymore? I'm a divorcee who at the moment has nothing to do in his career life and the real woman I'm in love with is scared of something thats already been broken. Might as well sit around and get fat like all the other rejects in the world."
Cate looked at her son and then hit him upside his head.
"Will you shut-up already. Your acting like a 8 year child and 34 year old women combined. I tolerated this at first, but now your being silly."
Nick, still rubbing his head mumbled,
"What else is there to do?"
"Think of a way to win her back. And possibly take a shower and shave while your at it."
Nick sighed.
"That's the thing. I don't know HOW to win her back?"
Cate rolled her eyes.
"Listen to your phone messages on your cell phone."
"What? What does that have to do anything."
"Maybe a call of inspiration will help you." she said, walking out of the room. Nick stared at the door, then picked up his cell phone. He had missed 24 calls. A large majority were from Jessica, or family of Jessica's, or friends of Jessica, but the last one was worth all the crap he heard. The more he listened and relistend to it, the more he liked. He hung up and smiled. All of a sudden Seattle, Washington seemed like the world to him. He started to get dress but stopped when he took of his shirt, and then headed for the bathroom. He really did stink.

*okay dokie...i havent written in this story for quite a while and i didnt really know where to start..i tried my best..i think...

There was so much drama going on in everyone’s lives. Nick and Alayna, Jeff and Les. C[arse]i and Drew talked things out. They were going to see how things were gonna go after a while and see what happens after time. Day after day they talked and grew closer like they were before. Drew still talked to Lea often since they were still married. After RENT was over, Drew took a break from all that and C[arse]i had finished up the season on Charmed.

“I still don’t know..� C[arse]i said
“It’s totally up to you, I’m not gonna force you to do something you don’t want to do� Drew said walking next to her. It was a beautiful night and they had decided to take a walk along the beach like old times. Drew took C[arse]i’s hand.

“I missed you. I really did�

“I know. I missed you too� C[arse]i said.

“You don’t know what you did to me. I couldn’t do anything; everything I did made me think of you. I didn’t go out for
months and I was always depressed. You really broke my heart babe�

“I know and I’m so sorry for that, but you weren’t the only one who felt it. I couldn’t do anything either. I still had feelings for you and I didn’t know what to do. I wasn’t ready for this long distance commitment knowing that I wouldn’t be able to see you whenever I wanted. It was as hard for me as it was for you�

Drew sighed and continued to hold her hand. Drew’s phone rang. It was Nick asking him where he was because they had a dinner plan that night.

“I’m sorry I gotta go before Nick bites my head off� Drew said as he put his phone back in his pocket.

“That’s okay� C[arse]i said as she looked up at him. Drew looked into her eyes and leaned in for a kiss. Knowing this wasn’t right C[arse]i turned and Drew kissed her cheek instead. Drew nodded knowing why. He walked her back to the hotel and went to meet Nick and Jeff at the restaurant.

Days past and Drew spent more time with his brother trying to comfort him and help him through all this. Nick had gone back to Cincinnati and Drew had followed him. They both stayed at their mom’s house. A few days later C[arse]i had went to Cincinnati to try to get Nick back into the flow of life. Staying at home all day long doesn’t really do a person very good. Everyday Drew and C[arse]i tried to figure what to do. They never thought they would see each other again. It took a while for them to catch up with things. Their feelings for each other didn’t change at all. They still loved each other very much.

After spending a couple of days in Cincinnati with Nick, Lea and called Drew asking him to come home, saying that it was very important. Drew took the next plane home to his wife to find out what was so important.

Driving home from the airport Drew was trying to figure out what was so important that Lea wanted to tell him. He drove up to the drive way and went to find Lea. When he walked in to the house he could smell the scent of Lea’s cooking.

“Hey baby what’s up?� He said as he walked into the kitchen and gave Lea a kiss and a hug. Lea dimmed the fire on the stove and sat down, taking Drew’s hand. She looked down at the table and then into his eyes.

She said it straight out....

well i had to lol for my welcoming back into the story i just had to leave you guys hanging. ahh..its great to be back lol gosh i really did miss this story. I wrote more and i'll add it later tonight =]

“I’m pregnant. Drew we’re gonna have a baby!� She said with a smile on her face.
“Drew after all these years, we’re finally going to have a little bundle of joy!� Drew didn’t know what to do. The first thing that popped into his head was C[arse]i. So many things were running through his mind. He just didn’t know what to say.

“Lea…I… � was all that could come of his mouth.
“Thanks for the enthusiasm…� Lea said. They just sat there for a while. Drew got up.

“I need some fresh air� he said as he walked out the door. He walked down the street. He saw couples holding hands, being happy. Then he said another couple pushing a stroller. Soon he thought to himself that, that would be him. Things had just gotten to the point where Drew didn’t even know what to do or what to think.

“What am I going to tell C[arse]i? How could this happen? Why now?� He said to himself. He walked around town for a bit, trying to clear his mind.

It started to get dark so Drew started to head home to find Lea fast asleep on the couch. He took a blanket and covered her and kissed her good night. Drew locked himself in his studio the rest of the night, trying to write down the ways to break the news to C[arse]i.

Days past and Drew knew he had to tell her one way or another. He took the next plane out back to Cincinnati. He said in his car in the driveway of his parent’s house. He was trying to find the right words to say, but he came up with nothing. C[arse]i was waiting for Drew’s arrival and she looked out the window, seeing Drew sitting there hitting his head off the steering wheel. She laughed a little and walked outside. She stood by the window waiting for him to notice her. Drew busy knocking this brains out didn’t see her standing there.

“I gotta do this� he said as he picked his head up to find C[arse]i staring at him weirdly. Drew jumped up from his seat and just stared back at her. He opened to door.

“What in the world are you doing?� C[arse]i said as Drew stepped out of the car.
“I got something to tell you� He said looking at his shoes.
“What is with you Lachey’s looking at your shoes...� she said as Drew chuckled a little. He looked up and gazed into her eyes. How could he do this to her? Someone so innocent, who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“Drew what’s wrong?� C[arse]i said with a concerned look on her face.
“Umm...You wanna go for a walk?�
“Uhh…sure why not.� She said as they started down the street. It took a while till someone actually spoke. Drew finally got up with nerves to tell her. He felt like a little schoolboy asking a girl out. He was afraid and scared. He didn’t know how she would act and he was scared to lose her again. He sighed. He was about to break her heart with two little words.

“Lea’s pregnant…� He said starring into her eyes. This came to the biggest shock to C[arse]i. Things were just going good. She finally found the one she loved all her life and now he’s gonna have a baby, which she didn’t mind, but it was with another women. She became just as confused as Drew was. She didn’t know what to do.

“I’m so sorry...You don’t know how bad I feel right now. I’ve led you on thinking that we’d be back together like we were before, but now that’s not going to happen. I’m sorry.� Drew said with tears coming down his face. C[arse]i didn’t know how to react to this. What was she suppose to say? Is she suppose to be happy for the man she loves who’s having a baby with someone else? What was she suppose to think?

“I’m happy for you Drew..� She said as she put a fake smile on.
“Don’t pretend. I know you too well to know that you’re lying.� Drew said
“I don’t know. I am happy for you but…�
“But what?�
“I don’t know. What are we suppose to do now?�
“I don’t know. I don’t really know anything right now. The past couple of days I’ve been think on how to tell you this. I haven’t gotten to the part on what to do about it.�

They both stood silent for a while. Drew really loved her, but he loved Lea too. His love for C[arse]i never ended. From the day they met to that day his love for her never changed. He felt different when he was with her, something he never felt when he’s with Lea. C[arse]i and Drew always had this special thing that no one could ever understand, not even them. They swore they were separated at birth. They always looked out for each other. Nothing could ever tear them apart. They swore to each other that they would love one another unconditionally.

Ok.. I know it's been almost a year since any of us has added, but look.. :D

After hanging up with Ala, Les got up and headed towards the front of the theater before she heard someone call out her name.

'Hey Les'. She turned around and saw Tim, one of the security guards.

'Hey, what's up?' I asked.

'Michelle is outside. She asked me to come and get you. She needs to talk to you', he said from the doorway.

'Why doesn't she come in here?' I asked him, wondering what she wanted. Ever since Jeff and I got back together she had really become rude towards me. I was still mad at her for giving Trish my phone number.

'I don't know... but she has two kids with her'. He said, shaking his head as he closed the door behind him.

I looked at Drew who was practicing his lines. 'Why me?' I thought to myself. I headed for the door and went to speak with Michelle. Just by looking at the kids I could tell who they were.

'What....' I started saying before she interrupted me.

'There yours.' She said, before turning around and leaving.

'Woah... you can't just leave them with me.' I yelled.

'That's not my problem,' she mumbled walking out of the theater.

I just stood there looking down at Alyssa holding on tightly to little Jeff's stroller. 'What am I going to do?' I mumbled to myself.

Alayna bent down from the stage and looked toward Jeff who was talking on the phone. He seemed a bit frustrated and by his hand gestures, could tell that whoever was talking to him was only making the situation worse. He shook his head and hung up the phone as Alayna whistled in his direction.
“You all right stranger?� she called out, turning off her mike and wiping the beads of sweat that was starting to appear on her forehead. So far she had gone through her routine twice and was finally starting to feel the heat of the lights.
“I’m fine.� He mumbled, walking up to the stage and sitting beside.
“Who were you talking to?�
“My ex-wife.�
“Ah.� She swung her legs in a similar fashion as Jeff and asked. She already knew what the problem was. She had discovered that out two days ago. Leslie had called her up and told her what Michelle had done. So far she had told her what Jeff had told her when she babysat for a night. It seemed to work so far. She still hadn’t told Jeff. She was going to that night. Guess Trish beat her to the chase.
“Trish left Les with the kids.�
“Ah.�
She dug in her pocket, looking for a stick of gum. She found it and stuck it in her mouth. For the past couple of days, gum had been her best friend.
“What are you going to do about it?� she asked after a couple of minutes of silence.
“I don’t know.� He frowned and she laughed.
“Well, you can’t leave here. And she can’t leave where she is.�
“That’s what frustrating me.� he sighed and looked toward her.
“You knew, didn’t you?�
“I’m Alayna. I know everything.� She said this in a mocking sinister matter and he laughed. He looked toward her and smiled. She had really been a great relief on this tour. And he was sure that she had helped Les the first night she was with the kids, though he was a bit angry she hadn’t informed him. He shrugged. She probably wouldn’t have if she wanted too; Les probably warned her against. He smiled and rubbed her shoulders.
“I’m going to give Les a call. You rest. We got a big show tonight. Full house.�
“I know!� she smiled and then gave his arm a little tug.
“Don’t worry about Les hating you. She’s knows it was Trish and her friends fault. She loves you, kay. And she loves your kids. That’s all that matters.�
Jeff smiled and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
“I don’t know why Nick let you go, but he sure as hell was a fool for letting you leave.�
Alayna gave a half smile as he walked away. Nick. That was a name she hadn’t heard in a while. It was actually a name she had almost forgotten. Almost. Jeff was good at reminding her when he was almost gone. And memory lane sure had its downs when she least expected it. Still, she didn’t let herself give in. She couldn’t. She had loved a man once and let him go. She had tried to love again and….well, luck wasn’t on her side. And now luck wasn’t on her side. Whoever said three’s a charm lied. Or if they didn’t, she didn’t want to find out.
She shook her head and got up. She was doing it again and it was going nowhere. She headed back to sound check to check up on her mic. It was acting a bit weird earlier.

~With Nick…..~
Nick was barely getting off the plane when his phone rang. He sighed as he picked up.
“Hello.�
“So it’s true. My signature brother did get out the house.�
Nick chuckled as he walked toward baggage claim.
“Yeah. I thought I get some air.�
“In Seattle?�
“So I thought I get a lot of air.�
He heard Drew laugh and smiled.
“What did you expect?�
“I expected you to go to the park and write. I didn’t think I could persuade you to actually fly out there.�
“Well, you fly to L.A., Cincinnati, and New York in the course of a day. I figured I could fly to Seattle and work my way from their.�
He heard Drew’s soft chuckle, then say,
“We hoped you fly after her.�
“Yeah?�
“Yeah.�
“Well, I did.�
“What’s the plan?�
“I don’t know. In that elaborate message of yours I thought you tell me.�
“That was just to get you out there.�
Nick grabbed his bag and started to head toward the exit.
“I can always fly back.�
“Yeah. But then you’d be lonely.�
“Really. I wasn’t aware.�
“Yeah really. So use that big head of yours and think of something. Your divorce was just televised about two hours ago. Its your move.�
Nick sighed as he slipped into a cab.
“I will. Just make sure she doesn’t know I’m here.�
“I can do that.�
“I gotta go and call Jeff. By the way, how are you?�
There was a long silence before Drew said,
“All right.�
“you sure.�
“Win Alayna back, then I’ll tell ya.�
Nick knew by his tone that something was up.
“You sure. It might be a while.�
“If its not by tomorrow night then I’ll tell ya.�
“all right. Bye brother. Stay strong.�
“You too.�
Nick hung up and dialed Jeff’s phone. He picked up on the last ring.
“What’s up?�
“Seattle. Me. Alayna.�
“Well….first you have to actually come to Seattle to have anything occur.�
“I’m already on my way to the hotel. What room are you in by the way? You only gave me a hotel name.�
“Eighth floor. Room 825. Already left an extra key at the desk. Look under the name Brandon Scott.�
“Interesting name. Thought it up yourself.�
“Something like that.�
There were silent.
“What are you going to do?� Jeff asked after a while.
Nick smiled.
“Well Jeff, its something like this….�
