This is a good thing!:D
John Mayer (http://usmagazine.com/node/9598) and The Fray are making every day Earth Day this summer with the help of green group Reverb.
Reverb, a non-profit environmental organization started by Guster frontman Adam Gardner and his eco-conscious wife, is teaming up with both tours, and will actually travel with Mayer. Their goal is to help reduce the "footprint" of the bands themselves, as well as educate concertgoers with interactive "Eco-Villages" set up at each tour stop.
In a press release about the partnership, Mayer said, “If you’ve ever seen an arena after a show, it’s an incredible graphical representation of ‘waste.' Reverb is an incredible organization that has come on the road with us and, day after day, is trying to funnel consciousness -- and trash -- into the right places”
The Fray guitarist Dave Welsh added, “We have an opportunity to let over 10,000 people know each night about a really important issue that everybody should be aware of."
Some of the measures the groups will implement themselves include: recycling and reducing backstage waste, selling organic cotton merchandise, employing reusable catering supplies, and neutralizing their carbon dioxide emissions through renewable energy offsets.
We're glad that Mayer thinks the earth is a "wonderland" as well. Kudos to him and The Fray for helping to make sure we can all rock on it for years to come.
