I'll be glad when you dont hear Rosies name all the time anymore.
The video is here to.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Rosie O’Donnell have been fighting on air since the comedian joined The View last September.
But the cohosts were at each other’s throats on Wednesday when O’Donnell called Hasselbeck “cowardly,” for not defending recent statements O'Donnell made regarding American troops in Iraq.
Their trouble started last week when the two got into a debate over who the real “terrorists” are in the war in Iraq. At the time, O'Donnell asked, "655,000 Iraqi civilians are dead. Who are the terrorists?"
She was later pilloried in the conservative press as media outlets accused the talk show host of calling the U.S. troops terrorists.
On Wednesday’s show, O’Donnell (who leaves the show for good in three weeks) blasted Hasselbeck for not coming to her defense on the matter. “Do you believe that I think our troops are terrorists, Elisabeth?”
She pressed: “Yes or no? Do you believe it, yes or no?”
“Excuse me, let me speak!” Hasselbeck snapped. “Let me finish!”
At this point, the conversation moved into split screen mode.
“I don’t believe that you believe troops are terrorists. I have said that before,” Hasselbeck continued, “but when you say something like, ‘655,00 Iraqis are dead. We invaded them…who are the terrorists?’…” She trailed off.
O’Donnell repeated: “Do you believe that I think our troops are terrorists, Elisabeth?..You would not even look me in the face, Elisabeth, and say, 'No, Rosie.' "
Hasselbeck shot back: “Because you are an adult, and I am certainly not going to be the person for you to explain your thoughts…Defend your own thoughts!"
But O’Donnell argued that whenever she goes up against her cohost, she's portrayed as a bully. “I defend my thoughts. But every time I defend them, it’s poor little Elisabeth that I’m picking on.”
Hasselbeck bristled at the idea that she’s viewed as a victim. “You know what, poor little Elisabeth is not poor little Elisabeth!”
“That’s right,” O’Donnell agreed. “That’s why I’m not going to fight you anymore, because it’s absurd. So for three weeks, you can say all the Republican crap you want.”
At this point, Hasselbeck, 29, went for the low blow, referencing O’Donnell’s much publicized feud with Donald Trump. “It’s much easier to fight someone like Donald Trump, isn’t it? Because he’s obnoxious.” The audience audibly gasped.
O’Donnell, 45, continued: “I asked you if you believed what the Republican pundits were saying. You said nothing and that’s cowardly. Nothing, Elisabeth.”
“Do not call me a coward,” Hasselbeck countered. “Because, number one, I sit here every single day, open my heart, and tell people exactly what I believe. Do not call me a coward, Rosie. I do not hide. It was not cowardly, it was honest.”
A very uncomfortable Joy Behar tried to interrupt the verbal brawl, cracking: “Is there no commercial in this show?”
O’Donnell added: “Here’s how it gets spun in the media: Rosie – big, fat, lesbian loud Rosie -- attacks innocent, pure Christian Elisabeth.”
The comedian later commented on the fight on her blog (http://www.rosie.com/), writing:
a split screen
new heights
or lows
depending on who u ask
However, Hasselbeck tells Extra that she doesn’t expect that there will be any lingering hard feelings. “I believe that we are mature women who can resolve [our differences],” she says. “I hope we can. I would hope that a disagreement or a heated debate wouldn’t be the end of a relationship.”
When asked what she thinks work will be like tomorrow, Hasselbeck says, “I don’t know, it’ll be a little awkward I’m sure. Whenever we have a heated debate, the next day is awkward.”
But it looks like kissing and making up will have to wait. At the end of today’s blog post, O’Donnell revealed that she’ll be taking tomorrow off because it is her wife Kelli’s birthday. She wrote:
tomorrow kelli turns 40
i will not be at work
peace out
