Bad news for Newlyweds voyeurs: Pop's prettiest couple is purportedly pulling the plug on their MTV series.

Jessica Simpson (news) and Nick Lachey (news) told Us Weekly they're through with 24/7 camera coverage, pointing out that they'll celebrate their second anniversary this October.

"Done!" insists Simpson. "We're not newlyweds anymore. We've had our share of the cameras. We're at a point where we'll want everything for ourselves and our family."

That would spell R.I.P. buffalo wings, platamapuses, celebrity maids, kids in the pool and twentysomething "old people."

Neither MTV nor Simpson's reps would respond to the quote.

Intrusion aside, the Chicken of the Sea aficionado and her patient hubby have profited handsomely from inviting MTV camera crews into their California home the past three seasons.

The popular series encouraged Simpson's label to rerelease her tepid-selling album, In This Skin, which promptly went multi-platinum. The blonde has also scored multiple endorsement deals (and one unpaid push for canned tuna); a recurring variety special for ABC; and, reportedly, an upcoming role as Daisy Duke in the Dukes of Hazzard remake.

Meanwhile, Lachey has netted himself a six-episode gig on the WB's Charmed next season as a love interest for Alyssa Milano.

When they do escape MTV's fishbowl, Simpson and Lachey plan to start a familyat least one day. "I don't think it will be in six months or a year, but after that, Nick's getting old," the 24-year-old singer told the magazine.

They've even considered adopting a child from an underdeveloped country. "We'd love to have our own children, but we have a heart for kids, and we'd love to adopt," said Lachey, who's involved in the Big Brothers program.

As long as we're not deprived of at least one child with Jessica's jeans, uh, genes.

oh thank god i won't have to hear about the idiocies anymore whoo hoo. and good god someone help them if they actually reproduce, jess does not need to p[arse] on her idiotic genes but hey ashlee came out all right so i guess maybe it'll skip a generation and maybe nick and jess will split right after the kid is born and it won't have any of those dumb ideas seeping into it's mind.

Gee - maybe it's because some of us aren't so naive as to believe all the pr comments coming from Jessica or her family - we go by the pictures of Nick - and when he's WITH HER - HE IS SOOOOOOO NOT HAPPY - the only times I've seen him happy recently are when he and the ditz are on opposite sides of the country.

And I'm sorry - that "playing up" the ditzy moments for the camera comment - only came out when the country was ripping on her because of her stupidity - as a way to make it "acceptable" - a clever PR line since all her followers fell for it hook - line - and sinker.

Yeah - one more season - so another 10 episodes approx. - Nick mentioned it on Regis & Kelly last week when he was on - personally - i think it's super over-kill - but hey - they're the two who are gonna suffer from it - because one of these days - the media that has made ms. 'ditz' the big name that she is - is going to turn on her.

I totally agree with the last post. And I thought they both wanted out of doing "newlyweds" because they wanted their privacy "to run around naked" and have a baby. LOL! I really wonder whose decision that was to do another 10 episodes? My gutt instincts says it was Joe, so his bottomless pocket will be lined with Jessica's and Ashlee's money even more. Btw, Ashlee announced on TRL Monday evening that she too is coming back for another season. I went, Oh yeah... I guess Daddy still has the clamps on her too! Now, I wonder what will her show be all about this time. Maybe she will get married and have a baby on the show. LMAO!!!!!!!!

What, are they afraid that Kevin and Britney is going to steal their thunder and put caution to their 15mins in the spotlight? And Nick, I wonder what his decision is in all of this. I thought Nick wanted his privacy back??? What's up with that.

On the other hand, I see that Drew is far away on the other coast making a name for himself. I guess we won't be seeing him and Lea on the next season, not unless some of the taping is done in New York when Nick goes to visit. I say good for Drew and Lea for getting away from LA and the land of Hollyweirdos. I pray that they will stay in NY after broadway wraps up. You know, maybe Nick should move to New York and do broadway. Somebody, please give this man a real job!

As far as Nick & Jess - I think that they were signed for this 'season' when they signed on for season 2 - originally I think they signed for 10 - then when they did season 2 they signed for 20 episodes with an optional 10 that would be filmed if MTV chose to use them.

Ok, I get it. So that means in this case, MTV decided to use them and not Kevin and Britney. LOL!!!

[b] now how's "fan" did i claim to be of. not jess's. nick isn't happy anyway. you can believe whatever it is you want to believe. i believe that he's not happy. i'm not the naive one believing everything that the media tells me i need to believe.

i am going by what i'm seeing. and some things are deceiving i know that, but not the eyes and nick well he doesn't have those happy dancing eyes that a man in love should have. i know what that looks like and nick doesn't carry it so you think what you want to think and let me think what i want to think. i'll be happy for nick when he's actually happy for once.
