New Nascar Chase format [Archive]

OK race fans (I swear I saw a few people mention they were fans of the NASCAR series).

What are your thoughts on the changes made to the Chase for the Cup that were announced on 1/22/07?
*increasing the Chase field to 12 (up from the former top 10 and anyone else w/in 400 pts of the leader)
*increasing the points for winning a race
*starting the chase at 5000 points + 10 for each win to that point - and seeding the drivers that way - instead of scaling the drivers based on where they stood in the points standings at that point.

I think the chase should have stayed the same but hopefully they made it better. Thanks for posting

I think it should have stayed the same top 10/within 400 points of the leader - but I do appreciate the extra weight they're giving to actually winning the races.

I know they did this after the whole Jr/Gordon not making the cut in 05 and Smoke not making it last season - but all 3 (and other drivers as well) have said that they had the number right at 10 drivers.

^I think NASCAR should have given extra points to the drivers for race wins a long time ago so I like that idea:) I'm not sure what I think abut the new 12 driver chase though

I never understood why there weren't more points awarded for winning the race, when to me, that's what racing in about. The win.
