This is kinda interesting!:worried:
Why do most celebrities demand no Evian when requesting bottled water?
The ****** Replies: The most likely reason has to do with rumors involving nuclear disaster, and no, I'm not making this up, but I'm getting ahead of myself.
You'd think the answer would be obvious. Evian—naive spelled backwards—is reserved only for people willing to pay premium prices for water that tastes like Gerard Depardieu's scalp.
But the true reason may be more complex than that.
According to top celebrity caterer David Mintz in Toronto, stars are simply turning toward other brands, specifically, Fiji, or the Norwegian water known as Voss. Both brands are ubiquitous in show business these days. So, maybe stars think the easiest way to get either Fiji or Voss—aside from specifically requesting Fiji or Voss—is to ban Evian.
Both Ashlee Simpson and her ex, the delightfully spiky Ryan Cabrera, cannot stand Evian in their dressing rooms, according to news reports.
Ditto with Clay Aiken and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, whose contract rider reportedly states, "no Evian or other local spring water." (The band instead prefers water culled from a still glacier.)
Other alleged Evian haters include John Kerry and K-Fed.
But the most fascinating anti-Evian theory comes from top on-set caterer Tom Morales, whose TomKats Inc. provides food to about 25 movie sets a year. Morales also has worked thousands of music concerts. (Currently, TomKats is catering on the sets of HBO's Big Love and The Sopranos and ABC's Six Degrees.)
According to Morales, the no-Evian clause is a holdover from years ago, when a rumor started circulating that the radiation cloud from the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster blew straight from Ukraine to Evian's water source in France.
"That's the only reason I've ever been given for not serving Evian," says Morales, who has fed everybody from Nicole Kidman to Gwyneth Paltrow. "I guarantee that's what it is."
(Paltrow, of course, never orders bottled water of any kind. Why do that when you can get ice water from your own veins whenever you want?)
A spokeswoman for Evian denies that any Chernobyl radiation has touched the company's water.
"I've been with the brand for two years, and I've never heard a word about that," the flack told me. The thing about Depardieu's scalp, however, can be neither confirmed nor denied.

They've done studies, see below.
http://www.nrdc.org/water/drinking/nbw.asp
here is a portion of the report:
Ironically, public concern about tap water quality is at least partly responsible for the growth in bottled water sales, which have tripled in the past 10 years. This bonanza is also fueled by marketing designed to convince the public of bottled water's purity and safety, marketing so successful that people spend from 240 to over 10,000 times more per gallon for bottled water than they typically do for tap water. In fact, about one-fourth of bottled water is actually bottled tap water, according to government and industry estimates (some estimates go as high as 40 percent). And FDA rules allow bottlers to call their product "spring water" even though it may be brought to the surface using a pumped well, and it may be treated with chemicals. But the actual source of water is not always made clear -- some bottled water marketing is misleading, implying the water comes from pristine sources when it does not. In 1995, the FDA issued labeling rules to prevent misleading claims, but while the rules do prohibit some of the most deceptive labeling practices, they have not eliminated the problem.

^^ Yep. I heard that too. There are no regulations for bottled water but there are strict rgulations for tap water. I have a Brita filtter attached to my faucet for extra filtering since tap water can taste funny. It's good. AND I don't waste money buying bottled water. Although, I have been known to once in awhile!

Yeah, I use a "PUR" 3 stage filter on my faucet it has activated carbon filter and other to get out any bad stuff. Technically, a reverse osmosis filter (see 1st link below) attached to your faucet really cleans the water great (however it has to "waste" some bad water in the process. Also you can hook up an ultraviolet light which kills any bacteria in the water. (see 2nd link below)

When I'm at home I drink faucet water, but when I'm outside I drink either Fiji or dasani, sometimes I also buy vitamin water.

I live in Hawaii and at least 90% buy bottled water. It helps if you have those purifier things though. I know a few people have them. It's not so much of the quality, but I think people think that it's dirty or something. For me, I just never wanted to drink from the faucet. It is also a habit of buying bottled water when you're visiting other countries.

Yeah, I'm a Brita girl at home, right on the tap but I will occasionally buy bottled water if I'm out.

Evian is nasty! I got a bottle once due to the fact that that was all the store had in the middle of the summer in the Outer Banks at the only store along that section. UGH. Never again. It had a nasty taste, and before anyone says that water has no taste, it does, at least to me.
We don't drink water out of our faucet due to the water softener on the well. The softener makes it salty and nasty tasting, and isn't all that healthy to drink. Not even a Pur or Brita will make it better, so we end up buying water all the time.

FYI,...not sure how wide spread this is however at a local Walmart Superstore they actually have a Culligan Water Purifier Dispenser where you can either purchase an empty plastic bottle or bring your own sanitized plastic bottle and fillt it your own with purified water. Because you do it yourself, it's only 25 cents a gallon! No kidding! Pretty reasonable considering it is treated by Reverse Osmosis and I think Ionization, so basically it takes out all the bad stuff. Anyone who purchases bottled water may want to check into that, could save you some $. :blink1:

I've thought about this as our Wal-Mart and area grocery stores have the same type of thing, but our city water sucks, too. I'll just buy the stuff. You can't go wrong with Deer Park, and when I get it as Sam's, it comes to round about $.80 a gallon.

You should lighten up a bit! Its funny because I know that alot of people think the faucet water is nasty just as you stated above.

It's confusing when you post something without an explanation because for a minute I thought you were making fun of me. :p
We usually get our water from the Water Company or refills from the water dispenser at the Safeway right next door to us. LOL
before anyone says that water has no taste, it does, at least to me.
I'm with you. I've tried almost every brand out there. Arrowhead is the nastiest for me. Evian is a close second. Crystal Geyser bottles are so hard to open. It's like childproof. Did anyone know that Dasani has one percent salt in it? I always wondered why my friends used to prefer Dasani all the time. It tastes good, but it's definately not the best.

Aquafina also has a good purification process. You can check it out here,...click on the "How we purify" to see their filtering process. if I were using bottled water, I would deifnitely use a "purified" version, one that gets any bacteria out. At Sam's Club you can get 32 16 oz bottled for like $4.49. Not bad. By the way, before when I said Ionization that was incorrect,..it's "ozonation" they use for water. i think they use ionization for air particles. :)

When we lived in Oh & Mi, we had a well. In those times, we bought bottled gallon water to cook with & bottles to drink. Now we have city water. We have one of those side by side refrigerators which has a water thing on the outside of the door. We use it to get drinking water all the time & it tastes fine, although it does have a filter which I have to change every 6 months. Otherwise, I buy bottled water when we go on vacation or sometimes in the summer on & off.
