Pretty simple question - who's your fave athlete - and WHY are they your fave?
I'll post my answer later today :)

Dan Marino.
I grew up during the Dan Marino era of football, watching the games on my Daddy's lap when I was little to progressing to cussing right along side him as I got older.
There's something magical about the man, that's all there is to it. Not only does he hold just about every record for a quarterback in the NFL, the personal adversity and struggles that he's overcome with his family are amazing. He's a wonderful husband (as far as the public knows!) and father. His charity work is amazing.
Watching him throw the pass, that is what football is all about. There was just something to watch the man throw the ball that I just can't find anymore. I won't forget when he went out for the first time in his career hurt, I was watching that game and cried along with everyone, even my Daddy. I remember when he set his records, I was watching along with everyone. I remember, to me, what is one of the saddest days in football...his last game. I cried along with a lot of others.
No, he never got the coveted ring that all players want, but to me, he was worthy of one, and it takes more than a quarterback to get them to the Bowl, it takes a team, and some years it was lacking, but in my eyes, he'll be one of the best ever players.
Ah, I think I'm done now!:embarrest:

You might think I'm weird, but Tiger Woods. The reason being is that he's like a roll model to me and my friends because he got us into playing golf :-)

oops - I forgot to post mine yesterday
anyways - it's probably Brett Favre ~ and the why - is because of the way he goes out to play the game - like he's just a kid playing a sandlot football game - even though he's making millions of dollars a week. Seeing him go through all the troubles he has in the past few seasons (sudden loss of his dad, his wife's battle with breast cancer, death of his bro-in-law on the Favre property in Mississippi) - and still going out and giving it his all every week - he's just a great man. It'll be a big loss to the Packer organization when he does hang it up - and hopefully that won't be this off-season. I'm definitely looking forward to a trip to Canton 5 years after he retires though...I won't miss that trip for anything.

i like Jason Varitek because he's a great role model to little kids, telling them how fortunate it is to have an education. He sets a good example as a leader in the community, & does a lot of charity work. He's not only an amazing baseball player, but a great leader in the Red Sox clubhouse.

I almost forgot this one myself,LOL!
I will say John David Booty-USC
Because everyone, including me, wondered if he could match up to Matt Leinart and get the job done by taking them to a championship. I think he did a great job and they did win the Rose Bowl. I'm not saying that he is the only one who got them there! I know the whole team did it. I just think he did really good. Hopefully whats his name Sanchez, wont take his postition next year! LOL!

Steve Yzerman of the Detroit Red Wings!!! He played 22 seasons for the same team and spent his whole career in Detroit. He is a total team player and was one of the best captains in the NHL. He played through horrible injuries so his team could win the Stanley Cup in 2002. He is a humble teacher and we love him in Detroit!

Derek Jeter...Captain Clutch!!! He is a class act and is the face of baseball. He plays hard every game whether they are winning by 10 or losing by 10. He has the mentality to play in New York and he isn't afraid to fail which makes him second to none when it comes to making the big play when the game is on the line. He might not be a home run king...but when the game is on the line- 2 outs bottom of the ninth all Yankee fans and haters for that matter...do not want to see Jeter....man has ice flowing threw his veins. He is a great leader on and off the field- his Turn 2 Foundation has done so much for kids and is run by him and his family. They have raised so much money and Jeter is very active in it. He is the Mickey Mantle of this era....all NY fans love him and he will go down as one of the great Yankees of all time.
