Here's Stevie's review again:
The nite was December 11th, and it was unseasonably warm for the month of December. My early Christmas gift from my Husband Frank were (4) 2nd row, dead center, tickets to see Nick Lachey at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, NJ, that he spent a small fortune on. Since Frank & I would be using (2) of the tickets, it left (2) tickets to be assigned by me for this special evening. Our BFF Teri, comes everywhere with us…So this left me with just (1) ticket that I wanted to be a special X-mas gift for Les, the proud proprietor of NickFanatic. I spoke with Les (to make sure she’d want to go) :) and we, the LacheyLeague prepared for a “Fanatic” evening.
We picked Les up and drove out to NJ and managed to find the theater in the small heart of the quaint little town of Red Bank. Les, Frankie and I went around back, where I asked one of Nick’s roadies to let Nick know that Les of NickFanatic was here tonite. We then entered the building, I spoke to another Roadie I recognized from the China Club and Nokia and also let him know to advise Nick that Les was in the house.
Once in our seats, we watched Phil Bensen, who we could not hear and waited for Nick to take the stage. Teri and I got up to go and speak to Tommy Lee, Nick’s Cuddly TeddyBear of a bodyguard and I told him that Les was with us. He told me not to worry…He’d tell Nick for me and that it was good to see our faces again, as he recognized both Teri and I from all 3 NYC shows. We got back to our seats and the magic began.
Nick’s voice this night was so perfectly clear. We heard his every annunciation on Outside looking in & Everywhere but here. He smiled a lot and “Rocked” everything up a bit more from the previous shows we saw back in NYC. Crave was so seductive…my husband whispered to me Merry Christmas Baby, breaking for just a second of picture taking, as he saw how happy I was. Beautiful became an anthem for all the Jersey Girls in the house and even some of us NYC Chicks. ICHYA was tender and strong…like the man himself. Shades of Blue, words cannot describe. This is my favorite song on the album, next to Run to me. He sang Shades melodically weaving a story for all of us of his blue days. He was teary and filled with sentimental thoughts until a friendly little blue teddybear captured his boyish heart. It made me tear up a bit to see him so uninhibited. Slave was it’s usual chaos, with every girl in the theater wanting to be that one special girl. By the time Resolution rolled around, Nick became less morose and more determined to show us all that he has hurt, grown and moved on…Like the feeling you get from the new version of the single. With his Led Zep covers, it was all about Rock and Roll…I LUV this part of Nick, as I am a bit of a wild child and am a Rock and Roll baby myself (with a name like Stevie, how could I not be) :)
It was in this timeframe of the show that Nick asked if any of us had visited NickFanatic. Frankie, Teri and I began pointing shouting and screaming, and since I have a very big mouth got Nick’s attention and a spotlite was pointed right at our girl Les. I tried to get her up on the seat and eventually she got up there (Knees shaking) :)
What’s left of me was haunting… & As we left the auditorium, we decided to go around back once more and along the way saw Nick’s Manager. We asked Les if she was going to say anything to him, but it was my Frankie that got his attention focused on our meek and shy leader. Les was so nervous and it happened so fast…he asked her if she had met Nick and we told him NO…He then whisked her away to the trailers and while we waited in that parking lot for what seemed like days, Les got to meet the band, Nick and a very special gal named Vanessa…Way to go Lesser!!
As I drove the League of Lachey back to NY, we spoke of the magic and how great the evening went for Les…as we pulled up to her door at exactly 12AM, the coach became a pumpkin and the princess returned to her kingdom.
Both Frankie and I know, that this was the best X-mas gift ever!!!
Just a girl, that’s been where you’ve been…(but not where you’ve been Les) :)
