I heard it was reported in the new US Weekly. Anyone know if it's true?

I've been looking for "proof" that he has, but I still haven't found any...

I heard today that according to US weekly that Nick left Universal. I think it's about time b/c they aren't doing anything for him and I think and hope the next record company will promote him better.

But the question truly is - did he leave or did they drop him? And honestly, it's not that easy for an artist to leave a label - and based on his record sales for SOULO, it won't be easy for him to find another label to take on his solo career.

What does it matter if Nick left Universal, or if they dropped him? Either way, Nick will be better off. If it is true that he is no longer with Universal, then he now has many options. He can sign with another record label that believes in him, and will support and promote him, or he can start his own record label, or he can do some production work and sing at the same time. Nick has many options, and as smart as he is, I am sure he is going to figure out what is the best move for him. Don't forget he has a very smart and supportive brother (Drew) who is definitely going to advice him on what he should do. Let's put it this way, whatever Nick decides to too, we Nick fans will all be very proud of him. In the mean time. just wish him well, and keep him and Jessica in our prayers.

It matters because at least 90% of record labels are not going to sign someone to a recording contract if they have been DROPPED by another label - particularly when they have had little to no success (and as a solo artist - realistically - Nick has had NONE).

Nick has publicly stated that he has no desire to get into the production side of the industry - so that option is highly unlikely for him. And considering the way Jessica is - she would throw a hissy fit of monsterous proportions if Nick even suggested doing another solo album by funding it himself or spending money to start a record label that would be considered a joke in the business. Most artists who have their own labels that are successful have them because a MAJOR label created a small label for them because of their recording successes. Nick won't find that kind of support.

Gidget, I like your positive attitude - but she at least had a couple of solo hits - Nick has nothing to his credit as a solo artist
