"The Simpsons" Get More D'Oh!

Mmm, money.
Yes, the real-life alter egos of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and the rest of The Simpsons have just gotten a big raise.
Fox is closing deals with the cast of the long-running hit comedy to raise its pay by almost 43 percent to $2.2 million per year, according to Daily Variety. Each cast member will receive $100,000 an episode for the 13th and 14th season (an increase from the current $70,000 an episode), with an option for a 15th season that will pay them $125,000. There are 22 episodes in each season.
Ay, caramba! Not bad for two half-days of work a week.
What's more, the voices behind America's favorite dysfunctional family--Nancy Cartwright (Bart, Nelson, Ralph Wiggum), Dan Castellaneta (Homer, Krusty, Mayor Quimby), Julie Kavner (Marge, Selma, Patty), Yeardley Smith (Lisa), Hank Azaria (Moe, Apu, Chief Wiggum, et al.) and Harry Shearer (Ned Flanders, Burns, Smithers, Principal Skinner, et al.)--will each receive a $1 million bonus. The extra cash was part of their last contract, but they weren't supposed to receive the bonus until 2005.
In addition, Castellaneta, who has cowritten several Simpsons episodes, will also receive a production-development deal with Fox.
The deals will not likely cause anyone to have a cow, man--unlike the last round of talks between the voice talent and studio in 1998. Negotiating en m[arse]e like the casts of Friends and Seinfeld, the six actors threatened to quit unless Fox paid more money. A compromise was reached before any walkout, with salaries doubling to about $50,000 an episode.
Somewhere in Springfield, U.S.A., Homer is gloating: "Wo-hoo! I am so smart! I am so S-M-R-T smart!!
