Nick Lachey
Jessica Simpson's husband, that's the one.

In the early coverage on ESPN, he said he liked Lion Gate.

Later after he had freshened up for NBC, somebody asked where his wife was and he said she was off spending his money.

Well then, she must have been betting five to show.

Yes it is betting terminology

Win (first place)
Place (2nd place)
Show (3rd place)

and you can bet on a horse to do any of the above - or you can bet on 3 to win-place-and show and win even more

betting 5 to show - would be betting 5 bucks on a certain horse to finish in the 3rd position (or it may be finish in at least 3rd - I can't quite remember - and they don't have that kinda gamblin up here).
