Now I know how it feels to have Nick Lachey leave you breathless. That is what he did to me Thursday night in Houston Texas and I will never forget any second of it.
Y'all have to understand that I took my mom with me because I didn't think it was right to choose between all my friends. I knew that I didn't want to take my husband; he sure wouldn't have been fun. Plus he just doesn’t understand.
The day started off at about 3:00 PM with my mom and me waiting outside the Warehouse Live where the concert was being held. We knew that the ticket booth didn't open until 5 so I wanted to get there early so I could be one of the first in line. So while we waited we watched Newlyweds on the DVD player. We watched the show all the way down to Houston as well.
So about 4:15 we needed a restroom break, so we headed off in search of a clean restroom in China Town. We found one and then hurried back to our parking spot. But before I parked I told my mom that I wanted to drive behind the building and see what I could see. Well there was dark tinted blue Ford van backed in right at the back door. I told my mom that I had a feeling that Nick had arrived in that van.
We went back and got our parking spot and we waited until two girls started lining up about 4:50. We got out and then we took our place in line. There we only four others there at the time besides my mother and I.
About 5:10 I hear Nick warming up, he was singing Beautiful. He sounded so good. Still there were only six of us there at the time. So we where standing there wishing we could go in and see him warm up. Then this guy opens up a side door and places a trash can in the way so the door will not close. He was the water boy and he was parked right there on the curb. One of the girls that were standing there with us ran down there and popped her head in the door. She then turned to us and motioned of us to come down there. I could tell by the look on her face that Nick was in there. I ran like a crazy woman and when I popped my head in the door I saw him. He was standing on the stage with his back to us. Then Tommy (Nick's bodyguard) came up, I couldn't take my eyes off Nick. As I watched Tommy walk up Nick turned around and looked at us poking or heads in the door. Tommy said, "Sorry but I need to shut this." I said, "OK." Nick just had this look on his face like what the heck is going on over there.
After Tommy shut the door we thanked the water boy for letting us see Nick. He said, "OK, but now I have to walk all the way around the building to get in." We didn't really feel that bad for him!!! We took or spot back in line where mom was holding down the fort. About 10 minutes later that blue van that I saw came out from the back. It stopped at the corner where we where standing. I told those girls that Nick was in the van. They asked me how I knew; I told them I had a feeling. I thought it was funny, here we where just staring at this van 15 feet away and we can't see in but he could see out. The van turned and the water boy came back out that door again and he pointed at the van and said, "Nick was in there." Then we stared screaming!!!
Just knowing that he saw me twice was making my heart race. Now the time is about 6:30 and the line was a mile long. There where 1500 of us there and I was third in line. The heat was so bad I think I sweated about 5 buckets worth. While I was standing there I looked across the street and I saw this guy and girl walking across. The guy looked just like Nick, I kid y'all not. The hair, the eyes, the scruff, and the smile he could have passed as his twin. Us girls where talking about it and you could tell he knew it. He and the girl where smiling at us and they walked over to the VIP line. Then about three minutes later they where crossing the street again, but not before we called them over to us. They come over and girls stared taking there picture with him. His name is Dusty and his girlfriend is Jennifer. They lived in Lake Charles Louisiana and she won the tickets because Dusty looked so much like Nick. So any way they where trying to get backstage and meet Nick but they wouldn't let them in. My mom let them cut in line so they could stand at the stage with us. They where so nice and he was so cute.
The doors opened and they let us in at 7 sharp. I ran in and I was front and center, I was only about 2 feet from the stage. Dusty stood to the right of me and the other girls I made friends with in line stood to the left. When the radio crew hit the stage about 8 they spotted Dusty. None of them could get over how much he looked like Nick. We where trying to get him backstage, we knew Nick would love meeting him.
The other girl that performed before Nick got so confused when she saw Dusty; she really thought it was Nick. It was so crazy y'all; he really does look like Nick.
Now the time is about 9:10 and Nick hits the stage!!!! OMG OMG He stood right in front of me and he looked so HOT. I couldn't take my eyes off him, he looked so handsome. His first song was Beautiful and while he was singing it, he looked down at me and pointed at my hat. I had on my red Miami Redhawks just like his. He was smiling at me and I just smiled back and pointed and jumped up and down. Dusty was laughing at me because I was so excited. Then we stared pointing at Dusty when Nick would look down at us. When Nick saw him you could tell he was thinking, OMG that guy looks like me. Nick had this huge smile on his face and so did Dusty when Nick was looking at him.
Nick sang Beautiful, Every Where But Here, I Do It For You, I Can't Hate You Anymore, Shades Of Blue, Resolution and What's Left Of Me. When he was singing you could tell that he was getting very emotional. He said that tonight his faith was restored in Texas women and the crowed went wild. He said that right before he sang I Can't Hate You Anymore. He also said that Beautiful was one of his favorite songs on the album. He was all over the stage and it was such a great show. You think seeing him on TV is great, but it doesn't compare to seeing him live and up close.
He left the stage about 10. The radio guys thanked everyone for coming and they pulled up Nick's play list that was taped on the floor and throw it out at us. I caught it and I have it!!!! So then we all just kind of hung around while Dusty took pictures with girls.
So I see that Nick's Fiji water bottle is still onstage and the road crew was packing up the equipment. I started yelling for one of them, I guess that went on for a good 5 minutes. Finally one came over to the edge of the stage and I asked him if he would please get that Fiji water bottle and the lid sitting next to it. So the guy went over and picked the bottle up and placed the lid on it, then he throw it down to me!!! I got Nick's Fiji water bottle and it still had about 5 inches of water left in it!!! This bottle is better then that coffee cup that I bid on at Ebay. Plus this bottle was free and I saw him drinking from it.!!!!
Now then we all are back behind the building waiting for Nick. They had the blue van pulled up at the back door and Josh (Nick's friend and management) put that black bag that we always see Nick carrying when he travels into the back of the van. Tommy comes out and they head for Dusty. Then Josh comes over and they had a fit at how much he looked like Nick. So they took Dusty and Jennifer backstage so Nick could see him. Jennifer told me she wanted a picture of Nick and Dusty side by side and she got her chance.
Dusty and them came out and I asked him how it was. He said it was great that Nick was so nice. He said that Nick couldn't get over how much that Dusty looked like him. Then Nick offered him a Miller Light and Dusty keep the bottle. He was so funny to see him talk about meeting Nick.
Well Nick got into the van and they drove off with about 10 car loads of girls following right behind. I said bye to all the friends I had made and I had asked Jennifer if she was a member of any of Nick's sites. She is a member of nickfanatic so I gave her my ID and we are going to keep in touch. Plus she is sending me that picture of Nick and Dusty, I can't wait for that.
Now then the best has yet to come for me. Mom and I are headed out for our hotel and I see the van up head of me. The van is trying to loose the following cars and he succeeded very well. But I was still 50 yards away. They where headed toward our hotel which was at the Gallery. But they turned onto Kirby Drive and I told mom I knew where they are going. So I turned as well. I remembered on the Newlyweds episode when Nick, Jess, Cacee and Josh went to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo they ate at Chuy's off Westheimer street. Here I go, I pass the van and I headed for Chuy's. When I pulled in and parked the blue van was pulling in.
Now I had been waited in the heat since 3 and it was now 10:50 at night. I had been sweating from the show and the excitement of seeing Nick and getting the great stuff that I did. So I really did think about how I looked at this moment of my life, all I knew was that I wanted to see Nick. When I reached the end of the van Nick and Tommy where coming around the hood. I froze when I saw him look at me I lost all the breath out of my body. He just stopped walking then he smiled and said, "Hey." He was just looking at me with those blue eyes of his and I couldn't stop staring back at him. I know I had a shocked look on my face I could tell, all I could say was Hi. Tommy then said, "Y'all followed us here, y'all might as well come on." So my mom said, "We didn't follow y'all, the van pulled in after we where parked." Nick and Tommy both started laughing. I was still frozen in place until Nick stated walking toward me. He told me that he liked my hat and I said thanks. He shook my hand and he keep holding onto it when he said, "Well I know you enjoyed the concert, I was watching you all night and you knew all the words to the songs. I told him how could I not, that was all I had been listing to since the CD came out. He just keeps looking into my eye's the whole time we talked. I told him that I brought my mom with me and then he let go of my hand and shook my moms.
He asked her if she liked the concert and she said she loved it. I asked him if we could take a picture and he said, "No problem." So the first one was of me, him and my mom. Tommy took the picture and then he was trying to hurrying Nick inside. Nick just keeps looking at me and I said, "Can we take one of just us." He smiled and said, "Tommy take a picture of Dedria and I." He said he was sorry that he was all sweaty and smelt bad. I told him that he could never smell bad. He laughed and then he shook my hand again. I just couldn't take my eyes off him. My mind and my heart where going 90 to nothing. I then told him that I was so proud of him and he said, "Thank you so much for saying that." I wished him well and then he said now lets all go inside.
So we all went into the restaurant. They let us in and led us to the back with Nick and them. Chuy's had been close down since 10:30 and now it was 11. They only let us in because we walking in with Nick. I had them seat us about 20 feet away from him and he sat in the back. The same place they had sat on Newlyweds. I couldn't stop watching him.
So while we all where eating Tommy was standing guard and wouldn't let anyone but members of the band close to him. There where girls that where sneaking in and trying to get next to him, but Tommy didn't let them.
After mom and I ate Nick signed my hat and I realized that my dreams had came true tonight. I had experienced something that would stay with me for a lifetime. Memories that I will never forget and a mans eye's that are burned into my soul. Nick is the nice guy that we have always known he was. He takes his time with his fans and he looks you right in the eye's when he is talking with you. I just don't understand how you could never let a man like that go, even if it was for a few minutes.
That is my Nick Lachey story and all of that did happen. I knew it is crazy but I experienced it. All of it and this story don’t even do my night justice.
Now then they wouldn't let us take in digital cameras; they said it was per Nick's management. They told us it was because of the video on some of them. But they did let us take in regular cameras. It was a good thing that there was china store across the street because I went over there and picked up two disposable cameras. I don't think that store had ever seen so much business after all those girls raided it for cameras!!!
