Of course, if she wasn’t married to Lachey, she might not have such amazing success -- she even jokes it was the best move of her career.

But she’s not sure how long her marriage will be the focal point. “It’s hard to have cameras around nonstop all the time, but it has given us the opportunity to further our careers, and to take on stuff that we’ve always wanted to take on,” she said.

Only a few years ago, Simpson was writing in her journal, wondering why she hadn’t achieved the multiplatinum successes that peers like Spears and Aguilera had.

“I was young and I was comparing myself to them as well,” she said. “And now I don’t even have to because people see me so completely different, which is awesome.

“I can just be myself, and maybe somewhere down the line, a new up-and-coming girl will be compared to me.”

Well, I think she "hung' with the divas last night just fine. She was actually one of the best sounding ones on the show. Her song with Gladys Knight was wonderful adn that was a lot better than Cyndi Lauper and Patti Labelle.

Check your VH1 listings, it'll be on again (more than once I'm sure). I was NOT impressed with cyndi Lauper or Debbie Harry...I didn't hear Ashanti.

i didn't watch it and i'm not planning on it lmao. i never watch that show anyway i dunno just to like be said to be a diva in that respect just doesn't do it for me when i think that it takes a lot more years to be in the business to be a diva. i really don't think jess should be there but i don't think ashanti should have been either but i guess that's just me. i just think people like patti labelle and diana ross those are the real divas i mean just look at how long they've been in the business ya know?

I understand about the longevity aspect. It was to raise money for keeping music in the schools and they raised a good chunk so that's what really matters. She really did sound good last night though. Cyndi Lauper and Debbie Harry (who have longevity) were horrible!! Patti Labelle and Gladys Knight were awesome. I didn't hear Ashanti. Then a Joss someone who I understand only has one cd under her belt was one of them.

The last one I saw was Celine Dion and Mariah Carey.

i don't know what that stuff is for but i'm glad they raised the money. personally jess rarely sounds good to me but i suppose i'll take your word for it lmao. i'd rather not risk my ears :P.

If you want to scream about someone's singing - listen to VH1 divas Cyndi Lauper and Debra Harry - aarrrrggghhhhhh that was horrible. Gladys Knight was my fav/Patti/Jess
