Hey y'all
This is a short story I wrote back in the day when I was an avid *NSYNC fic wirter. It's really sad and depressed. Read and tell me what you think.
“Dark Rainy Nights†A short story
The room looked dark and dreary. The perfect place to feel depressed. And that was what was going Joshua Chasez’s mind at the current moment. To him, life really wasn’t worth it. He didn’t eat all that much anymore, but he wasn’t anorexic. His four best friends hadn’t really been talking to him. The record company hardly noticed he was there. He didn’t have a girlfriend. So, in other words, he was alone.
He felt like nobody loved him, cared about him, or even knew he existed. Nobody paid attention to him, not even his own family. “Which I can’t understand,†he thought. “They love me, as far as I know.â€Â
Then, images of the last time he and his friends had had a good time together played in his mind.
~*Begin Flashback*~
Justin walked in, joining his friends in the room.
“What do you guys wanna do tonight?†he asked, looking at his four friends.
“Don’t matter to me,†Lance said. “I don’t careâ€Â
“Club†Joey said.
“Same†said Chris
“Whatever suits y’all, I’m fine with†Joshua said.
Chris threw a pillow at him.
“What was that for?†Joshua asked, a tone of mock irritation in his voice.
“Felt like picking on ya†Chris said, smiling.
JC rolled his eyes, and everyone laughed. Then he smiled. He could’ve asked for a better group of guys.
They went to the club and JC began to walk around. He wasn’t interested in asking every hot chick in there to dance, but he didn’t want to look like a loser sitting on the sidelines, either.
After a few random dances, he sat down at the bar, and sighed. Chris and Lance walked to him.
“What’s wrong, Josh?†Lance asked.
“I’m bored,†he said.
“So am I†Chris said. “How about we shoot some hoops?â€Â
Joshua and Lance nodded and they found Joey and Justin, and they agreed with the idea, too.
They shot hoops for a long time. The laughter couldn’t stop and they were so light-hearted.
~*End Flashback*~
Tears rolled down Joshua’s cheeks as he remembered that. A few days after that, they’d treated him like he was a stranger or something. He didn’t know why.
He then decided to go for a drive. It was raining slightly, nothing more than a drizzle, so Joshua figured it should be ok.
He’d been driving for a ways, when the rain started to pour. It was so bad that Joshua couldn’t see out his window at all. “Oh man†Joshua thought “How in the hell am I gonna get out of this mess?â€Â
He tried to focus on the window, but couldn’t see a thing, because the rain was falling so hard. “Maybe I should stop somewhere and wait,†He thought. But then he decided against it. He knew he’d probably be there all night if he did that. So he kept on driving.
Then, a truck came near him. Joshua could hear it, but couldn’t see it. Somehow, he got away from it. “Whew†He thought. “Glad I got out of that oneâ€Â
But, then a drunk driver came super fast and hit his Jeep. There was nothing but blackness.
~*Meanwhile, back at the house*~
The guys and their manager came to the house, exhausted. All they wanted to do was get some rest, but then Johnny’s cell rang.
5 minutes later, Johnny hang up, a little confused. “Guys†He said. “We have to go to the hospital now. Something’s happened to JC.â€Â
“Are you sure it’s not a crank call?†Joey asked
Johnny nodded “Let’s goâ€Â
~* At The Hospital*~
They met Dr. Seth there. “What happened to him?†Lance asked, a look of fear in his eyes.
“Well “ Dr. Seth said, “I hate to say this, but he’s gone. He was killed on impact.â€Â
“Was he hit by a drunk driver?†“ Justin asked.
“That’s what it seemed like: Dr Seth said. “We tried to see if they’re was any way to save him, but there wasn’t. I’m sorryâ€Â
The five of them went to the back waiting and sat down. “How can this be?†Justin asked, tears forming in his eyes. “How can he be gone? Just like that?â€Â
“I know†Lance said “And we treated him like [crap]. I feel so guilty right now.†Tears formed in his eyes.
They all went home; with the pain of knowing that there best friend was gone. How could he have been taken away so violently? They would never know that. But they would know that was taken away on one dark rainy night.
The funeral was the hardest for them four young men. How could someone so young, so innocent, have to die at such a young age?
The four of them went up, and Lance began to speak. “They are so many words to describe JC. He was nice, generous, sensitive, and sympathetic but he also liked to have fun. His p[arse]ion for music was so powerful; it would rub off on all of us. Of course, he wasn’t all work and no play. We had a ton of fun times together. He was more than a bandmate. He was friend. He was worker, and he was playerâ€Â
The rest of his funeral flew by.
They didn’t know what they were gonna do without JC, but the future still laid ahead of them. He might be replaced in the group, and one thing was for sure; he would never be replaced in the guy’s hearts.
