I know, the title is redudant. This story is 3 or 4 years old. I hope you enjoy!

Kristin and Nick have a great relationship, and Kristin decides to move in with him in L.A., and she launches a solo career. During all the success, Nick’s ex comes back to him and tells him she wants him back. Nick tries to resist her, but C[arse]i pursues. She even comes over and picks on Kristin a little, and Kristin sees them together. Kristin considers leaving Nick , but she couldn’t break his heart AGAIN. Can the relationship be saved?

Chapter 1

Kristin Renée Leigh Hunter smiled to herself as she packed the rest of her stuff in the box she was packing. “That’s the last of it” she thought.

Kristin was a pretty young lady with her dark blonde hair and blue eyes. She was also sorta tall and skinny. She was also slightly older than your typical girl staring in the music business. At 26, she was wise beyond her years, but she was also not totally serious. Now onto what the packing was going on for.

She was moving to Los Angeles, California to live with her boyfriend, 98 degrees singer Nick Lachey and to really launch her solo career. She already had her deal but she felt she needed to go to L. A. to really develop everything

Yet there was this part of her that really didn’t want to go. Her home, her friends C[arse]idy, Katie, Jenn, and Britt were here, and Mandi was only a short drive away in Cincinnati.
(Their friend Alyssa had gone studying abroad in France and didn’t want to be connected with her and Katie anymore)
Her family was nearby, with her mom and younger sister Amanda living a few hours away in Frankfort, and Bryan living only a few states away in Missouri.
She knew that she was leaving everything she knew and loved, but still really excited of what the west coast will offer.
“I’m young and need a change, anyway” she thought. She looked around the room and decided to get ready for the party her friends were throwing for her that night.

At 7:30, Kristin stepped out of her house wearing a blank tank and tan jeans. “I’m feeling sexy and ready to party” She thought with a smile on her face, as she started her car and headed for C[arse]idy’s house.

She pulled in and got out. “This is the last time I’ll ever be here… at least for a long time.” She thought sadly as she observed C[arse]idy’s small, but homey looking house.
She walked in there but didn’t notice anyone. She headed for the basement, which she, noticed, had been transformed to a party zone. Decorations were everywhere and they had a big snack table with varying foods. The couches were pushed kinda into a corner
And there was a big space with a disco ball hanging from it.
Jenn, an auburn haired and green eyed girl, noticed her and said “Look, it’s our guest of honor!”
Kristin blushed as everyone clapped for her. “Hey y’all.”
Britt, who had very dark blonde hair and hazel eyes, then suggested that they dig the snacks, since it was so past dinnertime, which everyone agreed to.
They ate and gossiped for awhile, until Britt asked Kristin. “So, Kris, what’s your plans for L.A.?”
Kristin sighed. “I have a lot planned... I’ll be recording my album and maybe trying to do some modeling and acting. In between that, Nick and I will try to spend a lot of time together. It’s gonna be busy.”
“Your lucky though” Jenn said. “I’ve always wanted to move there, but dad wouldn’t allow it”
“I wish I didn’t have to go though.” Kristin said, looking down at her lap.
“Why not?” Katie, a blond haired and gray eyed girl and was her closest friend in the group asked.
“Everything is so familiar here and I have everything so close by, you know?”
“You’re going to be with your boyfriend though” C[arse]idy, who had friendly green eyes and sandy brown hair told her.
Kristin nodded. “I know… but still” She paused. “Y’all are welcome come visit and I’ll be back on occasion. I’ll be contacting y’all too, so it’s not like I’ll be leaving forever”
“True” Katie said “But it’s not the same, you know?’

Just then C[arse]idy explained the disco ball and the stereo . What she wanted to do was have a dance square off to see who could dance the best. This was a perfect idea to Kristin, because she wanted to practice her dancing skills before she had to do her choreographed routines for real.
Kristin won it and Britt told her that she was a damn good dancer and she better see her dancing on stage when she became famous. That caused laughs in everyone.

The girls talked till 1:30 am and then it was time for goodbyes. Kristin went around everyone hugged them, and said something to them.
Then hardest goodbye for her to make was to Katie, because she was especially close to her.

She and Katie had known each other forever, but it wasn’t till the summer/fall of 1999 that they became really close friends when they had gone through a lot off things together. Katie was now a senior at a close by college, and Kristin felt guilty to miss her graduation.
There were a few tears in the girls eyes as they hugged. “I love you, Katie bear”
“I love you too, Kris”
then, she waved goodbye to her friends and got in her car to drive back to her house.

As she was about to crash in her bed, her cell rang.

“Hello?”

“Hey, Krissy babe” It was Nick.

Kristin smiled. “Hey Nick, what are you doing?”

“Nothing, just anticipating your arrival. I really miss you.”

“I miss you, too” Kristin sighed. The couple hadn’t seen or spoken to each other in about 2 months, since Kristin had been securing her record deal.

“So, are you picking me up?”

“Yeah, and after we get back, I’ll give you a grand tour of our house. I know you’ll love this house, Krissy, it’s gorgeous.”

Kristin smiled “I hope so, Nick. So I’ll se you at 7:30 tomorrow night?”

“Oh yeah, I’ll be there. Love you, Krissy”

“Love you, too, bye.”

She hung up her phone and thought, “This life is perfect” as she drifted off to sleep.

~Chapter 2~

Kristin woke the next morning feeling energized. “I thought a long day ahead of me” she thought.

She put on a black tank that showed a little of her belly, jeans and sandals. She brushed her hair back into a ponytail and did her make up. “Perfect. Now, on to some errands to do before my flight”

Kristin did all of her errands and made her flight. As she sat in her seat, a big smile came over her face. In just a matter of hours, she would be with Nick again.
“I can’t wait” she thought as she listened to “My Everything”, a song Nick had written for her, on her CD player and fell asleep.

~A few hours later~

Kristin woke up at find the plane was gonna land in about an hour.
She looked at the man next her’s watch. “Man, it’s only 6:30? God, it feels like 3 hours later than that.”
The man laughed. “Not used to West Coast time are you?”
Kristin shook her head. “Never been here in my life.”
“so, what brings you to L.A., young lady?”
“I’m going to build my career. I got my record contract and I’m gonna try to do modeling and acting as well.”
“You sing?”
Kristin nodded. “”I can sing, dance, act, model and play guitar.”
The man raised his eyebrows “That’s interesting. A girl that can dance and play guitar. When do you realize you were talented enough to go for it?”
“I took seriously when I was younger. I took dance, voice, acting, and guitar lessons. I performed, but never thought I’d make a career out of it. The interest wore off for awhile, but then my boyfriend convinced me to try it again late last year and I figured I’d try it.”
“wow, so you going to record in L.A.?”
“Yep. So what do are you here for?”
“Business. I do business here. I’m in and out a lot.”
“do you get to see your family?”
the man got a sad look on his face. “Not much. My wife always begs me to quit this job, but I love my job and I can’t please everyone, you know?”
Kristin nodded. “I know what you mean.”
“Say, what is your name?”
Kristin smiled. “I’ll give you mine if you give me yours”
“I’m Hunter Vincent.”
“Weird, I’m Kristin Hunter.”
“You got the same last name!” Hunter paused. “Well, Kristin, I hope to see you on the radio and charts someday, it was nice meeting you.”
“You too, Hunter.”

Kristin got out of the plane and was amazed at how crowded the airport was. She walked over to a seat and looked around. “How am I gonna find Nick?” she asked herself.
Just then, she spotted him. Wearing a while muscle shirt and jeans, he looked so incredibly sexy to her. “Nick!” she called, waving to him.
Nick didn’t hear her or see her, so she called his name again.
This time, he spotted her. A big grin coming over his face, he came up to her and they threw their arms around each other.
“I missed you so much, Krissy.” He whispered.
“I missed you, too” They looked in each other’s eyes, and kissed.

They walked to Nick’s car, loading Kristin’s stuff in the car, and got in the car.
Kristin looked out the window at the p[arse]ing scenery. “California is so pretty.” She thought as she looked at the palm trees and the beautiful beaches.
“You ok, Krissy?”
Kristin looked at him. “Yeah, I’m just tired and amazed at the scenery. I’ve never seen anything like this”
“That’s because you didn’t travel much” Nick joked.
Kristin rolled her eyes. “I agree.. but still.” She paused. “I’m excited about my career, though”
“I’m excited for you, I know you can do it”
Kristin smiled. “Thanks, Nick”

After 45 minutes of driving, Nick said “we’re here”
Kristin stepped out of the car and her mouth dropped open at the house before her. The house was more like a mansion, and it was beautiful, with a white color paint and nice wood front door.
“This is our house?” Kristin asked, a look of shock on her face.
“Yep” Nick said, coming up next to her. “Come on, the inside is even more beautiful.”
They linked hands and walked into the house.

The first room that caught Kristin’s interest was the kitchen. It was humongous, with a bar to sit in, wood cabinets, a dishwasher, stove, and a fridge.
“I don’t think that will be used that often” Kristin said, pointing to the stove.
“What? You can’t cook?” Nick asked.
“Not really.” Kristin said with a laugh.

They walked through and Kristin noticed 2 living rooms, 3 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, a computer room/office, an outdoor pool, and a work out room.

They walked into the master bedroom and Kristin gasped at what she saw. The walls were a beautiful dark shade of blue, with dark wood dressers.
“This room is beautiful” Kristin said. “I love it”
“do you want to sleep in here, or in a guest room Because if you don’t…†
“Nick, we’ve only done it once. Besides, I enjoy sleeping with you at night.”
Nick nodded. “I was hoping you’d say that.”
Nick led her to the master bathroom, which was magnificent. It had gold in it with a Jacuzzi. “Oooo… some magic’s gonna on in here.” Kristin said, smiling.
“Like, what kind?” Nick asked. “Love magic?”
Kristin slapped him. “Shut up, you pervert.”
Nick shook his head and said. “Come on, I saved the best for last.”

They were on a balcony and Kristin was amazed at the view. The sun was setting and the sunlight was shining of over everything else. “This is so beautiful, I’ve never seen a more beautiful sunset”
Nick smiled. “I knew you would like this. I enjoy the view myself”

Kristin had unpacked and settled in and they were sitting at the bar in the kitchen. “So Krissy, you excited to be out here?” Nick asked.
Kristin nodded. “Heck yeah, I wanna get started on everything. But I’m glad that I don’t go in to recording till Friday. I need time to get used to time difference and to let my jet lag wear off.”
“And the weather change”
“Well, that too.” Kristin looked around. “You know, this house looks to me like it could be right out of a movie.”
“Yep, it’s one of the perks of being famous. There’s a lot to adjust to once you’re famous, but I’ll tell ya about those later.”
“I can’t get over how great this house is. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.”
“That’s because you’ve never been in a house like this. But don’t you like it?” Nick asked her.
“I love it, it’s just… a little overwhelming.” Kristin paused. “But, you should see the apartment me, Bryan, and my mom moved into after my parents divorced. It was complete [crap].”
(Bryan is Kristin’s younger brother)
“Oh? How so?”
Kristin could picture the apartment like she had just been it yesterday. “Everything was beat up and like it hadn’t been cleaned up in 10 years. We only had to be there 2 months, but still.” Her face looked a little bitter. “But I remember dreaming of living a house like this. I remember when I was 18, when I was seriously considering my career, I would have these fantasies about having a fancy house, fancy ride, everything.”
“Well, your dreams will be coming true, I know it” Nick put his hand over hers.
After 5 minutes of sitting like that, Kristin yawned. “I’m ready to go bed.”
“You sure? It’s only 9:00”
Kristin nodded. “It feels like midnight to me though.” She yawned again. “I’m going to bed. Will you join me later?”
Nick grinned. “You betcha, babe.” He kissed her cheek and Kristin headed up the bedroom.

In bed that night, Kristin was feeling very comfortable. She was now with her boyfriend, and she was about to launch her career. “This move will definitely be worth it.” She thought as she snuggled down in the warm bed.

At about 1:00, she felt Nick come in and lay down beside her. She didn’t officially wake up, but she felt him wrap his arms around her and they snuggled together till they fit together perfectly.
At about 6:45, Kristin woke up, even to her it still felt like 9:45. “Why is it so early?” She thought. “Oh duh, I’m in California with Nick”
She looked up at Nick’s sleeping face. He looked so peaceful and she really didn’t want to wake him. “He looks so angelic.” Kristin thought. “Why in the world I am here with a such wonderful man?”
Nick slowly opened his eyes, and looked at Kristin. “Morning Krissy, did you get a good night’s sleep?”
Kristin nodded. “Even though it till feels like 3 hours later than it really is.”
“Don’t worry, you’ll get used to the time difference.”

They walked down to the kitchen and Kristin noticed the morning sunlight in the window made the kitchen have that even warmer, homey glow.
“Wow” Kristin commented. “That sunlight makes this room look even prettier”
“It’s definitely nice” Nick said “I love the way it does that. I just love this house in general. I would never give it up.”
Kristin had been looking in the cabinets and found herself some cereal. “I do too, even though I’m still not used to seeing some this big and fancy. I hope I don’t get lost in it.”
“You won’t, Kris” Nick sipped his coffee. “so, what do you plan to do today?”
Kristin chewed thoughtfully. “I dunno. Just go exploring in L.A., and start to know my way around I guess.” She paused. “And maybe look at the beach. I’ve never been to the beach in my life.”
Nick looked at her like she was crazy. “You’re kidding. You’ve been alive 26 years and you’ve never seen the beach?”
Kristin nodded sheepishly.
“Well then” Nick said “I’m gonna make sure you see some beaches while you’re here.”

That morning, Nick let Kristin borrow his car and she drove around alone, looking at the scenery. But she was careful to watch the road, because she didn’t want to crash Nick’s car. “California is so pretty.” Kristin thought. “I’m glad I came out here. “ She parked at a mall, and went in.

Walking around, she aimlessly looked around the stores to see if she saw anything she liked. She needed a new summer wardrobe, because she hadn’t had time to shop for new clothes.
She found 5 tank tops in blue, lavender, lime green, black, and orange, 3 pairs of new shorts, and a pretty halter sundress.
She noticed that there was an open mike karaoke in the center court and anyone could sing in it. “Hmm. “ she thought. “This is a way to get me noticed.” She put down her bags down near a seat, and sat down and watched some people sing. She saw some good, some all right, and some that were downright bad. One good one that caught her eye was Shanique Marion, a black girl who sang a Whitney Houston song.

Finally, it was Kristin’s turn and she walked on the stage an answered a few questions about herself, then she got the mike and sang “Goodbye’s (The Saddest Word)” by Celine Dion.
Everyone gave her a standing ovation and she bowed.
She walked and was retrieving her stuff, when she heard a voice she “Yo Kristin”
Kristin turned to see Shanique. “You got mad skills, where did you get that voice?”
Kristin shrugged. “Practice, I guess.”
“I’m Shanique Marion.” She held out her hand.
They shook hands, and they started to walk together.

“So, Kristin, where you come form?”
“Lexington, Kentucky.” Kristin said. “You from around here in L.A.?”
Shanique shook her head. “I was born in South Africa, and I lived there until I was 15.
I moved here to L.A. with my mom and my older and younger brother after my mom wanted to go back to the U.S., since she spent most of her life here. I love it here in L.A.
Is this your first time here?”
Kristin nodded. “Yep. I haven’t really seen much, since I’ve only been here since yesterday.”

They shopped together for a little, then Shanique suggested Kristin go with her to met her girls at a nearby restaurant. Kristin accepted, glad that she already had a friend and she hadn’t been in L.A. for a day.

As they walked to the table, Kristin was feeling a little nervous, hoping she would make a good impression on Shanique’s friends.
“Girls, I’d like you to meet Kristin. I met her today at the mall.”

“I’m Brandi Rose Rodriguez .” Brandi was pretty, with amazing brown eyes and pretty brown hair.

“I’m Aryanna Jones” Aryanna had caramel color skin, green eyes and brown hair.

“I’m Nichole Lea” Nichole had striking good looks, very Spanish with soulful brown eyes and silky brown hair.

“I’m Leilani Martinez” Leilani also looked very Spanish and was a pretty girl.

Kristin sat down, and Leilani asked, “So Kristin, where you come from?”
“Lexington, Kentucky”
“Hmmm” Aryanna said. “East sider. What brings you here to L.A.?”
“I’m gonna start my singing career and my boyfriend lives out here” Kristin answered.
“Anyone special?” Nichole asked.
“He’s famous, but I bet ya’ll don’t really know who he is.”
“Try us” Aryanna challenged.
“Nick Lachey?” Kristin had a nervous look on her face.
“I actually like his music, some of its pretty good. When did you meet him?” Nichole asked.
Kristin smiled as she thought back to the first time they met. “It was about September of 1998 and we just ran into each other somewhere. We couldn’t keep our eyes off each other that day. Before I knew it, we were dating. In March 2000, I broke up with him because I thought we didn’t need to be together anymore. But in October, we got back together. Since then, we’ve stayed together.”
“Wow, you guys have been together a long time. You think you’ll get married?” Shanique asked.
Kristin shrugged. “I have no idea.”
“By the way, how old are you?” Leilani asked.
“26” Kristin said. “I’m gonna be 27 in July”
“I never would’ve guessed!” Shanique exclaimed. “I’m 23”

“21” Brandi said.

“19” Aryanna said.

“22” said Nichole

“20” said Leilani

“Damn, I feel old!” Kristin exclaimed.
That caused laughter and Leilani said “Don’t worry, you still cool.”

~Chapter 3~

That time at the restaurant was really fun. Kristin was sure she had a new group of friends and she loved them, yet they were really different form Katie, Jenn, Britt, and C[arse]idy.
She also analyzed their personalities. Leilani and Aryanna were the resident comedians, always cracking everyone else up. Nichole and Brandi were more laid back and serious.
As for Shanique, she could be funny, but Kristin sensed there was a quiet side to her as well.

At about 6:10, Kristin said “Well y’all, it was so great meeting you, but I need to get back now.”
“We’ll let you leave” said Leilani “But without exchanging numbers and such”
The group laughed and Kristin exchanged phone numbers, screen names, and all that with them.

She drove up the house and got in. She put all her new stuff in the master bedroom and went to look for Nick.
When she didn’t see him, she began to worry. “I wonder where he is” She said, but then she felt arms wrap around her from behind. “Hey Krissy”
Kristin turned around and looked at Nick. “You little! You got me worried!”
Nick smiled. “I just thought I’d tease you a little. No harm done” He kissed her cheek.
Kristin smiled. “Be glad I love you.” They kissed.
“My gosh” Kristin thought “ What did I do to deserve this wonderful man?”
“Stop it!” She told herself “You’ve felt that way before, but that needs to stop. Nick’s proved that he loves you by taking you back after you dumped him and broke his heart.”
She broke away from him and he asked her. “Where’ve you been all day?”
So she told him all about her day.
After that, Nick suggested they go swim in the pool. Kristin agreed since the night was still young, and it was really nice outside.

Kristin still had this little thing about showing too much skin around Nick. Even though they’d made love once, she still got a little embarr[arse]ed to show too much. Nevertheless, she put on her bikini and sarong, and pulled her hair into a ponytail. “That looks good” she said to her reflection in the mirror.

She walked to the pool and noticed that the sun was starting to get lower. “This’ll be really romantic.” Kristin thought.
She had just gotten comfortable, and was about to sit down art the edge of the pool, when she felt hands push her in.
Kristin fell in with a big splash and emerged, coughing. She turned around to see Nick standing there with the most mischievous grin on his face.
“Nick! I wasn’t ready”
“I wanted to see what you would do”
“Don’t make me get out and push you in.” Kristin threatened. She walked over to the edge and tried to splash Nick as he teased her by moving away farther form the edge.
He did give in, and joined her in the water.
Kristin had calmed down a little, but that didn’t stop her from trying to have a splash fight.
They splashed each other and tried to knock each other over, Nick succeeding to doing that to Kristin once.
After the splashing and laughter stopped, Kristin said “You know Nick, this is kinda romantic.”
Nick nodded “Especially with the sunlight shining like it is”
Kristin nodded. Nick was definitely right on that point.
She started at him. He looked so hot with his shirt off, with the muscular chest and arms, and in swim trunks with water all over him, he looked that much sexier to her.
“What are you looking at?” Nick asked.
“Nothing, just admiring how sexy you look.” Kristin smiled as they kissed.

After that, they got out and laid in the chairs, watching the sun. As night came, Kristin wanted to get back in and as the both of them were at the edge, Kristin got sneaky and pushed Nick in the pool.
After Nick emerged, and was looking at her, she just said “Hey, you pushed me in first.”
She jumped in and they had another splash fight.

They were walking back into the house, and Kristin told him “You know Nick, that was really fun. You think we might do that again?”
Nick shrugged. “Maybe. But that was really fun.”

Kristin had put her pajamas on, and she decided that she wanted to check her email.
There was a new message form her little sister, Amanda.

Ne Ne,

Hey! Guess what? I’m going to Marshall University next fall. I got accepted! I didn’t think I would, but I did. Mom’s not too happy about it, but she wants me to be happy. I feel a little bad about leaving her because all of her kids are now having their own lives and living far away. But, I’m gonna do what I want to.

I bet ur out in California right now. How much have you done, what have you seen, have you made any friends? I bet the house your living with Nick in is beautiful too. Have you gotten lost in it yet? lol, j/k.

I’ll talk to you soon, bye!

Lotsa love,
Manda

Kristin chuckled and shook her head. She began to type her answer.

Manda,

You’re right, California is gorgeous! Not to make you jealous, but I LOVE it here. It’s so different an atmosphere from Lexington, but it’s a welcome change.

She typed about her day and ended it with this:

Hugs n kisses,
*~* Krissy Leigh aka Nick’s [nice person] lol *~*

She sent it and went to join Nick in the living room.

~The next day~

Kristin walked in nervously in the studio, looking at all the equipment. “There’s so many things” she thought. “I hope I can work all of this.”

She sat down with Colin, her current producer, and he walked through how they make a medley for a song and how they record it. “Sounds a little complicated” Kristin commented.
“It’s really not” Colin told her “You just have to get used to the process.”

He then showed her a song a friend of his had written, and asked her if she would like to sing it. She agreed, but she needed to hear the demo first.
After hearing the demo, Kristin said “I love this song, but the person did the demo of it sucks!”
Colin nodded. “I agree. It’s a good thing I don’t know the person!” They both laughed.

Kristin stepped in the booth, song sheet in hand, and she began to sing right off the page.

Boy
Lately I’ve been questioning your behavior
And wondering what your intensions are for me
You never call
And you always give a lameo excuse.

Well, I’m tired of putting with this [crap],
I know I have to get a grip
Because I can’t be with you no longer
So this I have to say to you…

Colin said “Very good, but I think I made a mistake in the beat.”
“I’ll help ya fix it if you want” Kristin offered.
“That would be nice. You’ll even get producing credit on your album.”
“Yay!!!” Kristin said, hoping to the producer board and sat down next to Colin.

Kristin and Colin spent two hours working on the beat and finally satisfied with what they came up with because it fit everything perfectly.

They then worked on the part Kristin had sung earlier for the rest of the day. It was 1:05 am when they were finished with it. “Well, Colin, I will see you tomorrow” Kristin said.
“Definitely Kristin. You’re a pleasure to work with.”
Kristin blushed and they hugged.

Kristin entered the house, half-blind with tiredness and just wanted climb in bed with Nick. She noticed that most the lights were turned off and it gave the house a more dark, mysterious look. “It looks nice” She thought.
She didn’t know how she made it to her and Nick’s room, but when she did, she opened the door very slowly to make sure that she didn’t wake Nick.
Kristin put on her pajamas and snuggled down next to Nick. Nick opened his eyes, and smiled. He just wrapped Kristin in his arms, and they fell asleep there together, feeling happy.

~Chapter 4~

A few weeks went by, and Kristin got totally adjusted to living in L.A. She would record her album, then in her free time, she would hang out with her new friends, spend quality time with Nick, and look for acting opportunities. “L.A. definitely is the place for me” she thought to herself.

She has hanging at the beach with Nichole, Aryanna, and Leilani, when Nichole said “You know what, I’m gonna tan” Nichole said, laying down and putting on her sungl[arse]es.
“You don’t need to tan, Chole Chole” Kristin said. “You’re already gorgeous, with your Spanish heritage”
Nichole looked at Kristin “I know, but even people with darker skin need tans”
“And look at you” Aryanna said “You’re already tanning, and you haven’t been here a month”
“You think so?” Kristin looked down at her legs. “I don’t look that different”
“Well, you definitely look tanner than when you arrived. I bet you don’t get as warm weather back in Lexington”
Kristin shook her head. “No, we didn’t.”

Just then, Aryanna spotted her boyfriend, Damian. “Look, there’s my baby” She said. “I think I’ll go hang out with him.” She got up and walked up toward him.
Nichole rolled her eyes. “Typical Aryanna. She always does that.”
“Does what?” Kristin asked, feeling confused.
“We’ve known her long enough to know that she will date a guy, act like she’s totally in love with him for the brief time she’s with him, then moves on to the next one” Leilani looked annoyed.
“I bet she hooks up with all of them, too. I hope she gets pregnant one day.”
Nichole and Leilani laughed, and Kristin kept being confused. “Why do you say that, Nichole?”
“Because” Nichole said. “I happen to know she has unprotected sex with all they guys she’s with, and she’s been with 13 million guys. I’m really surprised she hasn’t yet.”
“Does she know you guys talk about her like this?”
Leilani shook her head. “She don’t really give a damn with people say about her, because she’s just gonna stay Aryanna and if you don’t like it, screw you.” She paused. “But at least Nichole and Angel act a little more controlled with the Public Display Of Affection when they’re in public”
“You have a boyfriend, Nichole?” Kristin asked her.
Nichole nodded, a big smile on her face. “Yep. He’s the best guy ever. He always makes me feel like a queen, and he’s exactly what his name says, an angel.” She turned to Kristin “So, how would you describe you and Nick’s romantic style?”
Kristin thought for a little. “We really know how to affectionate to each other when we’re alone, and when we’re in public, we tone it down, but we still will be affectionate to each other.”
“That’s how a couple should act.” Said Nichole.
Just then, Aryanna and Damian came and sat with the group.
Kristin had to admit, Nichole and Leilani were right. Aryanna and Damain were too overly affectionate for public seeing.

At about 5:20, Kristin went back to the house to get ready for a date with Nick. They had agreed to spend the day apart, but meet at a beachside restaurant at 6:45.

She put on her tan halter sundress, and did make up and hair. “Here we go” Kristin said. “I’m ready”

She arrived at the restaurant, noticing Nick was already waiting for her outside. “Wow Krissy, you look gorgeous.”
“Thanks, you look pretty hot, too”
And with his white long sleeved shirt and khakis, Nick definitely did.
They kissed, and walked in the restaurant.

They got a seat out on the patio, facing the beach “The beach looks so pretty at this time of day” Kristin said.
Nick nodded. “This makes it really romantic”
“So, what have you been up to today?” Kristin asked.
“hung out with a few friends basically. Nothing really special, you?”
“Pretty much the same.” Kristin took a sip of her drink.
“Speaking of friends, have you gotten a chance to contact C[arse]idy and all them?” Nick asked her.
Kristin shook her head. “No. I’m really busy, so it’s hard to really get a chance to sit down and catch up with my family and Katie, C[arse]idy, Britt and Jenn. I really hope that I can, though. I promised them I would keep in touch.”

That date was really fun. Nick and Kristin just sat there and talked laughed with each other. Kristin always enjoyed these kinds of dates. She could forget about everything and just talk to her boyfriend.

That night, Kristin couldn’t help but overhear a phone conversation Nick was having with someone, and from what she heard, it sounded like a young woman. Kristin had no knowledge of any of Nick’s past loves, so she hoped it wasn’t one of them. “I certainly hope he’s not cheating on me” Kristin thought.
“STOP IT!” She scolded herself. “As he’s proved again and again, Nick loves you with all of his heart, and he’d never do such a thing. Quit jumping to conclusions and try to make up a reason to leave, because there isn’t one. You guys are stable now”
Kristin shook her head. “I just don’t get why I’m so paranoid like that.”
She entered the room to find Nick sitting on the bed looking at his cell phone. She sat next to him. “Who was that?” She asked him.
“ Nobody special” Nick said.
“Are you sure?” Kristin asked him.
Nick nodded. “I know what you’re thinking. You’re still a little unsure, but trust me, you got nothing to worry about, Krissy”
Kristin’s insides relaxed. “good” They kissed each other.
“I love you” Nick said.
“I love you, too” Kristin replied, as they turned off the light to go to sleep

~ Chapter 5~

Kristin finished her album in early September and she invited her friends to come and hear the new material. Shanique, Leilani, Brandi, Nichole, Nichole’s boyfriend, Angel and Nick came.

“So, Miss Hunter” Angel asked. “How do you feel about the new material?”
Kristin blushed slightly, but she said “I love it. I’m hoping that y’all, and the public will like it, because it’s mostly stuff I wrote, either from experience, or imagination. I’m proud of it. I just hope you guys will like it.”
“I know we will” Shanique said. “From the first day I ran into you, I knew your voice had real star potential. You can sing, girl, you needed to show off that talent”
Kristin blushed again. That was really a comment coming form Shanique. “Thanks, Shan.”

Kristin then put on the first track, “Walk Away”. This song had a hip-hop flavor and was a track you could still dance to. Kristin had written that song about a boyfriend in college who was a serious player. The lyrics were about 5 years old, but the beat brought new life to them.
“Damn” Leilani said. “There’s a lot of fire in this song, this is phat!”
“I agree. Major attitude. How did you pull that off, Oldie?” Shanique asked.
Kristin shrugged. “I was just remembering a guy I dated in college who was a serious player. The pain just came back.”
“Did you date the guy before Nick?” Angel asked.
Kristin nodded. “Yep, he was the last guy I dated before I met Nicky.”
Nick rolled his eyes. “You’re so like Drew.”
Kristin smiled at him. “I just like to call you that sometimes, got a problem with it?”
“Don’t worry Nick” Brandi said. “We all have nicknames we aren’t crazy about”
“She hates to be called Rosie” said Leilani.
Brandi glared at Leilani, and Leilani said “See what she does?”
Nick smiled. “At least I’m not alone. But I bet Krissy over here has some nicknames she hates.”
“Let’s not go into that” Kristin said, and flipped on the next track.

A few tacks later, they heard a song called “Road Trip.” Kristin wrote, produced and played guitar on this song. It was about the road trip she took with Mandi and a few other friends before her freshman year of college. The song had been written recently, but the memories were fresh in her mind.

“I like this one” said Angel “The mix of rock and country is so great.”
“You generally don’t like country” Nichole told him.
“I know, I don’t, but the way Kris does it on this one, is just amazing”
Kristin smiled. “Thanks, Angel, I’m proud of this one, cause I wrote, produced and played on this one.”
“Multi-tasker” Leilani said in an impressed voice.

Then, Kristin asked, “So, where’s Aryanna?”
“With Damian” Brandi said in an annoyed voice. “All she ever does is be with him and talks about him too freaking much”
“We’ve been thinking of dumping her from our crew.” Nichole said.
“Dump her just because she’s with her boyfriend all the time?” Nick asked. “Isn’t that a little unfair?”
“Maybe” Shanique said. “But there’s a story behind the problem that you and Kris don’t know.”
“Can you tell us?” Kristin asked.
Brandi started “Well, about 1 ½ years ago, she started to just… zone away form us. She really never wanted to hang out with us, nothing. It got worse when she met Damian. If she saw us somewhere and we didn’t arrive with her, she’d act like she didn’t know us.
“Yeah” Shanique said. “There was this one incident where were Chole and I went out to our favorite club, and she just came up She just acted like a [nice person] to us, and I almost hit her.”
“I had to hold her back” Nichole said. “It was awful. She must’ve been drunk, but still… inexcusable. So, we are gonna dump her, we just haven’t done it yet.”
“When are you gonna do it?” Kristin asked.
“Are you free Saturday night?” asked Brandi.
Kristin nodded.
“Well, we all, including you are gonna go over there. You don’t have to say anything though.” Shanique said.
Kristin breathed a sigh of relief “Thank god. I was afraid y’all would make me say something to her.”
”Nah” Nichole said. “Since you’re the newer chick and you haven’t seen it play out like we have. But we would like you to be around that night, though, to symbolize our unity in this.”
Kristin smiled. “Awesome, I’m down with that.”
Everyone laughed.

After playing the rest of the album, Kristin said “Now, the last song. I wrote this song, and it’s dedicated to a special someone.”
“I wonder who that is” Leilani said curiously.
Kristin smiled, flipped on the track, and looked at Nick as she mouthed the words to her voice.

“Forever Till The End Of Time”

From the first time I saw you
I saw we were meant to be
Those bright blue eyes
They seemed to tell me
Everything about you

The impression you gave me
That day
Would last a long time
It’s lead me to believer
That you….

Chorus:
You are the one for me
You are my everything
I have never known
Someone like you
You have given me
Something that will infinite
And I that this is true
That we will last
Forever till the end of time

Someone like you
Doesn’t come round much
But I know that what I have found
Is a true catch

Everything I have with you
Is untouchable
I know nothing will come between us
Cause…

Chorus

(Music interlude)

Ooooooo….
Yeah yeah yeah

I love you so much
And there’s nothing our love can’t touch
Cause…

Chorus x3

“Damn….†Shanique said “Where did you learned to write such a beautiful song?”
Kristin shrugged. “I dunno, it just came out.” She looked at Nick. “So, what do you think of it?”
Nick smiled, his eyes a little teary. “It’s one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. Thank you, Krissy.”
They couple hugged, and then they just hung around the studio for awhile, until it was time to go home.

It was 7:30, and Nick said “I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to go home.”
Kristin nodded. “I am, too, so don’t worry about that.”

She got home, and her cell rang.

“Hello?” Kristin answered.

“Hey Krissy Leigh” The voice was unmistakable, it was C[arse]idy.

“C[arse]idy! How are ya?”

“I’m so good! Everything’s great here in Lexington.”

“What’s been happening, you gotta fill me in!” Kristin walked out to the balcony beside her and Nick’s room.

“A lot” C[arse]idy said. “I have met a really cool guy.”

“Ooo” Kristin said. “What’s his name?”

“Brent” C[arse]idy answered. “He’s great. We love each other a lot.”

“When did you meet him?” Kristin asked her.

“Like… the day after you left.” C[arse]idy was laughing.

“Speaking of guys…” Kristin said “How are Katie and Jess?”
(Jess is a guy Katie knows that goes to college with her.)

“Those two are so in love. We all can just see it. I’m surprised they haven’t gotten engaged yet.”

C[arse]idy went on to tell Kristin about all the stuff that had been going on, and Kristin told her about some of the stuff that had been going on in L.A.
After Kristin hung up with C[arse]idy, she felt a little homesick. “I’m missing so damn much there.” She thought. “But I’m pursuing a career of a lifetime.”

~Chapter 6~

It was Saturday night, the time all of the girls were to go to Aryanna’s apartment and tell her she didn’t belong with the group anymore.
Kristin was really nervous, since she didn’t know what to expect, but she knew this had to be done.

Nichole and Leilani came over a little before they were supposed to go over, and when Leilani stepped in she said “Damn… this house is fancy!”
“Yep” Kristin said, walking to the front door. “I love this house.”
“How do you find anything in this house?” Nichole asked.
“I’ve learned my way around” Kristin said. “When I first moved in, I wasn’t sure if I could get used to living in this big a house, but I did. I love it now.”

Leilani and Nichole followed Kristin into the kitchen, and the sat at the bar.
“So, do we have a plan for tonight?” Kristin asked.
Leilani nodded. “We have to be at Aryanna’s apartment at about 10:00. Shanique and Brandi will meet us there. Then we will talk a little before we go up.”
“And as we said before, you don’t have to say anything” Nichole told her. “You’re just there for purposes of unity”
“But what if Aryanna says something offensive to me or something?” Kristin asked.
“Either one of us will stand up for you, and you can stand up for yourself if you want.” Leilani said. “Are you a person who gets mad easily?”
Kristin shook her head. “It takes a lot to piss me off. And I never yell at anyone. I would have to be extremely mad to do that. But I will stick up for myself if I have to”
Nichole nodded. “That’s good. I like that quality in a person.”
Kristin blushed.

Just then, Nick came in the kitchen. “Hey Nichole, Leilani” He said.
Nichole smiled at him. “Hey Nick.”
“So, you girls ready go tell Aryanna off?” Nick asked.
(Nick had met Aryanna once and he hadn’t liked her at all)
Leilani nodded. “Hell yeah. When I talked to Shanique earlier, she said that when she called Aryanna, Aryanna was acted like an extreme [nice person]. We’re all just sick of her.”
“I know” Kristin said “From the first day, I thought she was kinda shady.”
“I don’t see how Damian can stand her” Nick said.
Nichole rolled her eyes. “He’s usually too busy making out with her really notice her personality. Maybe she acts different when she’s with him, I don’t know. But still, it’s time she got booted.” She looked at her watch. “Well, it’s time we headed on over.”
Kristin picked up her purse and turned to Nick. “I might be a little late, so don’t wait up for me”
Nick nodded “Ok, babe” They quickly kissed and she followed Nichole and Leilani out the door.

In the car, Leilani told Kristin “You and Nick are so freaking cute together! I couldn’t help but notice how much you and him love each other.”
Kristin blushed. “Yeah, we are really in love. We’ve known each other since 1998, so how can we be not in love?”
“You and Nichole are so lucky.”
“How so?” Nichole had a puzzled look on her face. Apparently, this wasn’t typical Leilani behavior.
“Well, the two of you have men who are faithful and love you from the bottom of their hearts. I’ve never had that.” She paused. “Chole, do you remember Shane?”
Nichole nodded.
“Well, today’s the year anniversary that he broke my heart.”
Nichole looked guilty. “I forgot! How have you been today?”
Leilani sighed. “I’ve been ok. It doesn’t hurt as much.”
Leilani was really surprising Kristin. Kristin had no idea that she could be this sensitive.
“What did he do to you?” Kristin asked.
Leilani looked at Kristin. “I much rather not relive it right now. But, I’d love to share it with you at another time if you ask.”
Kristin nodded. “Ok, sounds good.”
Leilani then asked. “Kris, have you ever had a guy really break your heart?”
Kristin shook her head. “None of the guys have been with have really hurt me. I have a funny feeling that Nick might be cheating on me.”
“What do you say that?” Nichole asked.
“I don’t know… it’s just…. This one night I eavesdropped on a phone conversation he was on, and the person he was talking to was a young woman.”
“I wouldn’t worry” Nichole said “It was probably nothing.”

25 more minutes p[arse]ed, and Kristin said “We aren’t there yet? Where does Aryanna live?”
“She lives in the inner city. Damain happens to be a former gang member. He’s cleaned up his act… or so he says.” Nichole sounded bitter.
“He hasn’t [arse]aulted her or anything, has he?”
Leilani shook her head. “As far as we know, no. But we don’t really care anymore.”

Finally, they reached the apartment building, where Shanique and Brandi happened to be waiting. “Where the hell have you been?” Shanique said. “We have been waiting for an hour!”
“We stayed a few minutes at Kristin’s house.” Leilani said guiltily “We’re sorry.”
Brandi nodded. “Ok. So, let’s review the plan we came up with.”
“I’ll start talking first” Shanique said “Then everyone who feels like it. Except for Kristin, since she’s the new chick” Shanique looked at Kristin “No offence or anything.”
Kristin smiled. “No harm done.”
“So, we all ready to go in?” Brandi asked.
“Yep” Leilani said, and they all followed Shanique up the stairs.

(Note: this scene has a little cursing in it. If you don’t like reading curse words, I’d skip this scene.)

Shanique knocked on the door. Aryanna answered, and she looked quite surprised. “Uhh… hi”
“Ari, we need to tell you something.” Brandi said.
“Ok…. Come in.” Aryanna told them.

It was crammed, with the 6 of them in the small living room, but they managed.
“So what is it?” Aryanna asked.
“We believe that you don’t in this group anymore.” Shanique said.
“Why?!” Aryanna asked, confused and outraged. “I haven’t done anything.”
“Oh don’t go denying it, you *****.” Nichole said. “We all could think of times when you’ve acted like a [freak]ing [nice person].”
“All you talk about is Damian anyway” Brandi said furiously.
“Well, I’m in love with him” Aryanna said, as though she was trying to defend herself. “don’t you want to give me credit for that?”
“In love with him, my [arse].” Nichole said with rage. “All you do with him is make out and [freak] each other every night.”
“Score one for us” Kristin thought.
“And you don’t need to talk about your boyfriend EVERY minute of the day.” Kristin said. “I have one and I don’t talk about him all the time.”
“You don’t know him.” Aryanna said. “He’s great… and different from the rest.”
“you say that about EVERY guy” Nichole said. “And you’re sleeping with a former gang member. Isn’t that dangerous enough?”
“I don’t give a [crap]” Aryanna said. “So shut up, you Spanish [nice person]”
”Hey, watch it.” Nichole said. “I may be Spanish, but I ain’t a [nice person]. I haven’t slept with 82 million guys, like you have. I haven’t even slept with one”
“What’s wrong with you guys? You favor that prissy white [nice person] over there over me?” ” Aryanna nodded towards Kristin.
Kristin got so mad she couldn’t control herself. “PRISSY WHITE [nice person]? Who you calling a prissy white [nice person]?” Kristin got up and walked over to Aryanna. “Look, I may be white, but I’m not PRISSY and sure as hell not a [nice person]! If you don’t like me, fine, but don’t insult me because I’m ‘white’. These girls in this room happen to like me for who I am, unlike you. If you want to be prejudiced, that’s fine, but don’t you ever insult me again.” Kristin slapped Aryanna across the face and walked back to her seat.
Aryanna was so shocked, she couldn’t stand it. “You *****!!!”
“Don’t start” Kristin said. “You want to get slapped again?” She turned the others “Come on, y’all, we don’t have time for this.”
They all followed Kristin out of the apartment.

“Oh my god, Kris” Brandi said, once they were in front of the building “I can’t believe you did that. You were stellar!”
“Definitely.” Shanique said. “You have really earned your place in this group.”
Kristin blushed. “Thanks, y’all. But I must say, that was me in the rarest form. I never get really pissed off at someone unless they really get me worked up.”
“She deserved it, though.” Nichole said. “You gave her the slapping we were so tempted to do all along.”
Kristin smiled. “Thanks.”

~Chapter 7~

The first single, “Walk Away” was released on radio the following Tuesday. Kristin was nervous, cause she didn’t know how people would like it, but she hoped for the best.

She and Nick were driving together in L.A. when they heard this come on the radio.

“All right folks… it’s time for some new music to be played. This song I’m about to play for everyone is by pop newcomer Kristin Hunter. Now, don’t write her off as the same old pop act, because she writes almost all of her songs, dances, sings, play guitar and act.
Here’s her song “Walk Away” on The Fire.”

The first beats of “Walk Away” started to play and Kristin said “Oh my gosh, I’m on the radio. This is so weird!”
“It’s awesome, though” Nick said. “This song sounds better on the radio, don’t you think?”
Kristin nodded. “I would say so”
They bobbed their heads to the beat till the song was over.

Then, she called Katie.

“Hey KT Bear, guess what?”

“What?” Katie asked.

“My song just played on the radio in L.A.!”

“Awesome, chick! Jess and I were hanging out my house and we heard it on the Lexington station. The song really kicks [arse]. Jess said you sounded really sexy on it.”

Kristin blushed. “I’m glad y’all like it. Have C[arse]idy, Britt, or Jenn heard it yet?”

“Haven’t talked to them in about 3 days, so I wouldn’t know” Katie sighed. “Life is getting too stressful. Jess and our friends are the only people who keep me sane these days”

“Speaking of friends, have you talked to Mandi?”

“Yep” Katie said. “Her marriage with Brad is falling apart and she’s really upset that she can’t talk to you”

“Well… I don’t consider her a good friend anymore.”

“Why not?” Katie asked.

“I dunno, it seems like since last year, we have grown apart and changed so much. I don’t feel comfortable with her anymore.”

“I agree. I don’t really feel as comfortable either. Are you gonna tell her that to her face?”

Kristin sighed. “I need to, but it’ll have to wait till my next trip Cincinnati. I much rather say it to her face than just tell her on the phone”

“That’s good. Hopefully you’ll end the friendship on a good note. But you’ll hurt her, you know that?”

Kristin nodded “But it has to be done. I don’t want to be bitter, though”

Just then, Nick parked the car.

“I gotta go, Katie” Kristin said. “Love ya”

“Love ya, too, Ne Ne”

~A week later~

“Walk Away” was the number 1 single in the country and everyone was begging for a video to be shot for the song.

Kristin shot the video in a club in L.A., with Nichole cast as her best friend in the video. The guy cast as the ‘cheating boyfriend’ was cute, but he was too young for Kristin since he was 20 and she was 27. Besides, she had Nick.

The video got released and it was loved. It got heavy rotation on MTV and VH1, and was rising quickly on the charts.

Nick and Kristin were sitting in the kitchen of their house and Nick asked her “So Krissy, so you excited about your newfound fame?”
Kristin nodded. “I’m so shocked, though. I’m surprised people care enough to take the time to listen to my song. Here I am, a 27-year-old from Lexington, and they love me. It’s awesome, but surprising.”
“Just wait till you till your album comes out” Nick said. “America will really love you after they hear that record.”
Kristin blushed. “Thanks. But, what really matters is if my friends and family like the record.”
“What about the critics?” Nick asked her.
Kristin shook her head. “If they like me, fine. If they don’t, that’s fine, too. I might read a few of their reviews, though.”
“You think you’re gonna be ready for all the work in store for you?”
Kristin nodded. “I’m used to working hard, so I think so. I can’t wait for everything.” She paused. “I need to go pack some stuff, then I’ll go look at my schedule.”
Nick nodded.

After an hour of packing, Kristin came back downstairs and picked up the paper that had all the things planned for her to do that week.
After she was done, she turned to Nick and said “How did you survive with having so much to do in a day?”
Nick laughed. “It’s something you have to get used to, but don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll do great, Krissy.”
“I bet I’ll lose a lot of sleep” Kristin commented.
Nick nodded. “You don’t get as much sleep as you used to, you don’t get as much meal time as you used to, you don’t get as much private time as you used, to, and you don’t get to see family and friends as much as you used to. It’s a tough business, but at the same time, it’s so rewarding, that you just don’t think about the negative stuff as much. The road tends to be your home away from home”
Kristin nodded. “I’m ready for all of it.”

~1 month later~

Kristin had been on the road, and was promoting non-stop. She was looking forward to being in New York, because she loved the city, and she was going to get to perform on the “Today” show, which was her favorite news show, and appear on MTV’s TRL.

Her phone bill had gone up tremendously high, since she had gone on her promotional tour, since she talked to everyone a lot.

Kristin was surprised with all the attention she’d been receiving. Here she was, some nobody from Lexington and she was all of a sudden a superstar.

Her album was to go out on October 13, and she was really nervous. She didn’t really care about the record sales, but she wanted people to actually like her album.

The morning of the day her record came out, she was on the Today show, standing on the stage in the cool September day in a black tank with a beaded jean jacket and jeans that matched the jacket. She was standing with Katie Couric and Matt Lauer.
Katie was saying “Welcome back the Today show on this Tuesday morning. It’s 8:15, and I am standing here with Kristin Hunter. Her album “Not Your Average Pop Star” is in stores now. Good morning Kristin, how you feeling this morning?”
“Great” Kristin said “I’m so happy to be in New York, because I’ve heard such
wonderful things about the city, and it has a great vibe about it, I just love it”
“You feeling nervous?”
Kristin shook her head. “Not really. I’m just happy today cause it’s done and it’s out, so… I’m calm. But I’m nervous about people liking it. I hope everyone will like it”
“You don’t care about record sales?” Matt asked her. “Does that matter to you?”
“Well, I want it to do well, but if it flops, that’s fine too.”
“I don’t think that will be so, because look at all the people here to see you today.”
Kristin looked at all the people in the plaza, waving and screaming. There were even a few signs. “I know… look at all the people. It’s amazing.” She giggled.
“Obviously, you are surprised at all your fame.”
Kristin nodded. “Definitely. I mean, here I am, some nobody from Lexington, Kentucky and I’m all of a sudden a big old superstar. It’s kinda weird. But I like it”
“You’re about to sing “Road Trip” from your album. Tells us about that song.” Matt said.
“Well, it’s a song I wrote, and it’s about going on a road trip with your friends, and having fun. I happen to play guitar on it, too”
“OK, here is Kristin Hunter singing “Road Trip” here on “Today”.† Matt and Katie stepped aside and she sang the song.

They took a commercial break, and after a little talking , she performed “Walk Away”

Then, there was another commercial, and then Matt “We are back with Kristin, where she is going to sing one more song for us.”
“I understand you wrote this next song and it’s really personal to you. Why?” Katie asked.
Kristin talked into her mic. “Well, it is special, cause I wrote it for someone special” She smiled sheepishly.
“Care to share who that is?” Matt asked.
Kristin nodded. “It’s Nick Lachey of 98*”
Everyone cheered, which made Kristin smile. “I wrote the song to show him how much he’s meant to me, since we have known each other for so long. He’s just the best.”
“But since your career has launched, you haven’t seen him as much, right?” Katie asked.
Kristin nodded. “We talk on the phone as much as we can.”

Katie and Matt stepped aside and then Kristin stepped in front of the mic stand and began to sing the song.
After she was done, she could see a few tears in few people’s eyes. “Wow” Kristin thought. “My song has really moved these people. This is amazing”

I don't know if anyone is reading this.... but i'll go ahead and post another chapter

~ Chapter 8 ~

~At Lunch~

Kristin was eating her sandwich, and reading the week’s edition of “People”. She noticed a critic’s review of her album. She decided to read it, just for kicks.

Kristin Hunter
Not Your Average Pop Star
Reviewed by Chuck Jones

When I was first asked to review this, I thought “Oh no, not another pop act” But Kristin is more than that. While she is cl[arse]ified as pop, she throws in her own twists of R&B, hip-hip, rock, and country. All of the songs were either written or co-written by the 27-year-old star, which you don’t see too often in the music business.
“Walk Away” provides an attitude filled track about a cheating boyfriend, which, Hunter says, is about a guy she knew in college who was a player. “Road Trip”, which she plays all of the guitar parts on, is a fun little song about going on a road trip with your friends. “Paradise” is a bouncy tune with a message about loving life and living your life to the fullest. (Don’t ever an opportunity p[arse] you by/ cause you don’t know when it will come way again)
The highlight on this album, however is the heartfelt ballad, “Forever Till The End Of Time”. She really bares her heart out in this one, and it’s a perfect love song. (For the record, she wrote it for her boyfriend, Nick Lachey)
Bottom line: Hunt out for this Hunter; she’s a keeper.

Kristin nearly spit out her sandwich. “Oh wow, a critic actually likes me!”
Her manager, Shari, came to her side and looked at the review. “That’s great, but we need the public to like it too.”
Kristin nodded. “But I find it amazing that a critic likes me even though I’m a ‘pop’ artist”
“But if you read a bad review, just don’t let it get you down, because they just don’t like that type of music.”
Kristin smiled. “Thanks, Shari”

Soon, it was time to go on TRL. Kristin was nervous, because she didn’t want to make a fool of herself, but she somehow knew it would all be ok.

Then, Carson said. “My next guest is already a superstar. With a #1 single and an album that is released today, who would argue? Please welcome, Kristin Hunter.”
Kristin smiled and walked in the room. The audience was clapping and some were holding out their hand to shake hands with her. Kristin smiled, shook some hands and walked to the stage. Carson led her to the window where some people had signs for her.
“Oh my gosh, people actually have signs for me!” She exclaimed.
They walked back the stage and Carson said “Well, she is here. The album is out today. You excited about it?”
Kristin nodded. “Yep, I am so excited. I got to write a lot on the album, I produced a lot of it, and I played guitar, so I’m really excited. I worked on it a lot.”
“Isn’t it a relief to finally have it out after so much anticipation?”
Kristin nodded. “Yeah, I’d say so. But now I just have to promote even more!” Everyone laughed.
“You’re just a regular person form Lexington, Kentucky, who, a year ago wasn’t even thinking about a career like this, all of a sudden a superstar. How do you react to all the attention?”
“It’s amazing. I’m just this nobody then I’m somebody. It’s weird, but I like it”

After awhile, they took question from fans and one girl who had brown hair ad gray eyes asked, “I’m Carrie and I was wondering, since if a year ago you weren’t thinking about a career in this business, how did you start your career?”
Kristin smiled. “That’s a good question. See I really wanted to be a singer when I was younger. I took all the lessons and I have the resume to prove it. But, by high school, I was convinced that it wouldn’t happen to me, so I gave up on it. Then, in November of last year, my boyfriend, Nick, who had heard me sing, told me I should start up again. I was reluctant, but I did. I got a record deal in late April and here I am.”
Another girl asked her “What’s your next single gonna be?”
Kristin shrugged. “I’m really not worried about that right now. “Road Trip” might be a good contender, though.”

Just then, Kristin said “After we display the play list for my album, everyone in this room will get a free copy of my new album, “Not Your Average Pop Star”.
Everyone clapped and Carson said “That was nice of you, you didn’t have to do that” Kristin smiled. “I’d figured I’d be nice and do that”

~That night~

The release party was that night and Kristin had invited her friends to come. Yet some famous celebrities came too, which really surprised her. Mandy Moore, Charlotte Church, Usher, The Olsen Twins were among the famous people.

What disappointed Kristin that her Kentucky friends didn’t come. Brandi, Leilani, and Nichole came, though.
However, Kristin spotted a woman dressed in a glamorous dress, but she recognized her as C[arse]idy.
“C[arse]idy!” Kristin said. “You’re wearing a dress!”
C[arse]idy smiled. She never usually wore dresses. “You like?”
“I love it!” Kristin said. “I’m glad you made the effort to come. Could anyone else?”
C[arse]idy shook her head. “Jenn’s started her law internship, Britt’s dad got really sick, so she had to take care of him. And Katie went with Jess to visit his parents in Michigan.”
Kristin smiled. “I’m glad you could come. Now, I want to introduce you to my L.A. girls”

C[arse]idy blended right in with Brandi, Leilani, and Nichole. The 5 girls had a lot of laughs that night.

The night was really successful. Kristin made some new famous friends and caught up with her other ones.

C[arse]idy came back with her to the hotel room and Kristin called Nick. Busy.
“Weird” Kristin said “It’s 11:00 pm in L.A.. Nick’s not usually busy at that time”
“I don’t know” C[arse]idy said. “Maybe he’s talking to Drew.”
Kristin shook her head. “Drew never calls our house that late” She paused. “Nick has been acting a little bit suspicious lately.”
“Like, how has he been acting?”
Kristin sighed. “He doesn’t call me as much and when I call him he usually gets off after 20 minutes of talking, doesn’t even answer, or the line is busy. And he doesn’t have anything big planned by my knowledge.”
“He’s probably cheating on you” C[arse]idy said.
Kristin looked at her friend in surprise. “Why do you say that, Candy?”
C[arse]idy sighed. “He sounds like what my guy that cheated on me back in high school.”
“Nick wouldn’t do that” Kristin said, taking her hair out her ponytail.
“I thought my guy wouldn’t either.”
“What should I do C[arse]idy? It’s not like I can go home and look to see if he’s been unfaithful.” Kristin asked as she brushed her hair.
“Next time you get a hold of him, ask him why he’s been doing it. But I wouldn’t take any action right now. It may not even be that he’s cheating on you. But that seems like the most likely scenario.”
Kristin nodded. “I’ll go by that… for now. But seriously, C[arse]idy, I don’t think Nick would do that. I know him too well.”
C[arse]idy sighed. “If that’s what you think, Renee, that’s fine”

~Chapter 9~

C[arse]idy’s reasoning was halfway right. Kristin still couldn’t get Nick on the phone, and she desperately wanted to talk to him, hear his voice and tell him about what all had been going on.

It was a night two weeks later, and Kristin decided to try to call Nick one more time, even though she’d told herself if she heard that busy signal one more time, she would cry.
It was busy.
“Nick…” She whispered. “Come on… I want to talk to you”

An hour later, her phone rang. She answered it, figuring it would only be one of her friends.

She was wrong.

“Hello?” Kristin said.

“Hey babe” It was Nick.

“Nick! I’ve been trying to get a hold of you for a few weeks. Where have you been?”

Nick could tell she was a little irritated with him. “I just had some stuff to take care of. I’m sorry.”

“So, you have time to talk?”

“Plenty. What have you been up to?”

“I really don’t feel like talking about it. What’s been going on with you?”

“Nothing too much. I talked to Drew and Jeff.”

Kristin got interested. “Ooo, what’s been going on with them?”

“Nothing too much. Your friend Mandi and Drew are getting to be closer friends.”

Kristin raised her eyebrows. “Really, wow. I didn’t know.”

“Haven’t you spoken to Mandi recently?”

Kristin shook her head. “No. I don’t really consider her a good friend anymore, cause we have just seemed to have grown apart recently, especially since I got serious about my career. I don’t think we click anymore.”

Nick seemed to understand. “It’s a little too bad, cause you two have known each other since like, 2nd grade.”

Kristin nodded “Yep, it is. What’s up with Jeff?”

“Well, it’s kind of a long story, but I’ll tell ya anyway. Right now, Jeff now has another girlfriend, but he’s making moves back on Britney.”
(Britney is Jeff’s girlfriend/best friend)

“I thought they were still together” Kristin said.

“Well, they were. But they broke up like, three weeks ago. They’ve broken up and gotten back together a million times, and I wanna tell Jeff, ‘Make up your mind about Britney!’ but I haven’t, so ….”

“Oh, and are Alicia and Drew still together?”
(Alicia is Drew’s girlfriend since early 1999)

“Yep.” Nick said. “But as I told you, Mandi is wanting to be closer to him, like dating type. She’s been making serious moves on him. Drew has told me she has flirted with him a ton and tries to get him to kiss her.”

Kristin rolled her eyes. “sounds about right. Mandi was so like that in high school.”

“And there’s another thing that makes this a totally messy situation. Drew and Leesh are engaged.”

Kristin’s eyes widened in surprise. “Wow, that’s great for them. When are they getting married?”

Nick thought for a minute. “Next March, if Mandi doesn’t get in the way of it.”

“If she tries, I will defend Leesh if I have to” Kristin sighed.

“Wow, sounds like you’ve really pulled away from Mandi”

“And she really doesn’t know our friendship is over, I haven’t really said anything to her. I just have hated her behavior recently. Don’t wanna go into it.”

“So, when can I come and visit you, cause I feel guilty for not talking to you recently”

Kristin looked at her schedule. “You can come Saturday and stay as long as you want. How’s that?”

“Perfect” Nick said. “I think I’ll go now. Love ya, babe.”

“Love you, too, Nick”
