Forever In Love... Or Not?

Here is the sequel as promised! i'm really excited about writing this story, it's going have a lot happen. So enjoy and please leave feedback. :D

Summary:
It’s been almost a year since Nick and Jessica have gotten together. Nick is so glad that he opened himself up to Jessica because their relationship made him so happy. They decided to go ahead and make their relationship public because they felt they had nothing to hide. Their careers were doing quite well too. Both are extremely busy, but still manage time to talk to each other. However, one day, something happens that might ruin the happy times.

~Chapter 1~

Nick Lachey climbed onto the tour bus, exhausted. It had been your typical day on tour, consisting of interviews, sound checks, greeting the fans, doing a show and maybe getting a little rest in between. Yet that was what he loved, going out there every night seeing all the fans faces, smiling, screaming his name and signing along to his songs. Being able to do that outweighed the sometimes trying schedule and some of the other negative things that went with the territory.
He thought about where he was this time last year. It was certainly a very painful time. He had been trying to get over the heartache of a previous love, being dropped from his label after much speculation, feeling betrayed by his brother and being pursed for another relationship when hew wasn’t sure he was ready. Things were overwhelming then. He had never been so stressed and depressed in his life.

Thankfully things had gotten better in the last year. After a few months of being out of work, Jive Records had signed Nick. They liked his music and saw enormous potential in him. They promised that if they had a problem with him or if he wanted to do something they thought would ruin his career, they would tell him. Other than that, he had all the creative control in the world. Under their guidance he finished the album and was now on tour to promote it.

Since the betrayal at the record label, Drew Lachey, Nick’s brother, quit his job as a record executive. He also exposed what the old CEO, Jon Ashton, was doing to the artists and got him fired. Nick was very pleased to hear about that because he despised Ashton. Despite this, it took Nick awhile to forgive Drew because what had been done stung him. Finally after about 3 months, Nick couldn’t stand not talking to him anymore and forgave him. The wounds healed and things turned back to normal between the brothers.

Finally, there was his heartache. Nick had been struggling to get over his ex, BreAnn Hayden. It was serious heartbreak for Nick; they had been together for a long time and it had ended so cruelly. Then he met Jessica Simpson. She stirred up feelings in him he never felt before. He slowly began falling… but something in him kept him back. About a month or so after they met, Jessica told him that she wanted to them to be lovers. That took him aback at first because he was not ready to love again at that point. Finally he slapped some sense into himself and opened his heart to her. It was the best thing he had ever done. His relationship with Jessica nothing like he had ever experienced before. Her spirit was so lively, which balanced out his sometimes too serious demeanor. They were able to laugh a lot together. There also was a strong bond of trust between them. There had to be for it to last, given that they both were singers and schedules kept them apart for weeks at a time. But that time can’t exceed more than three weeks, according to the rule the couple came up with themselves.
He smiled, thinking of Jessica. She was the best thing in his life in his life right now. There no way he would let her go.

His cell phone went off.

“Nick Lachey” He said.

“Darling, you sound so professional” It was Jessica. He was glad to hear her voice. “Who were you expecting?”

He shrugged. “No one really. I was just thinking about you baby”

“Oh really? That’s great to hear. I miss you” She sounded sad.

“I miss you too. What’s wrong, you sound sad”

She sighed. “I’ve had a bad day today”

“Do you want to talk about it?”

“Not exactly. I just want to keep my mind off things right now. What’s today been like for you?”

He shrugged. “Nothing special really. Just the daily grind that comes with touring”

“Daily grind? You make that sound like a bad thing. No psycho fans trying to stalk you or anything?”

Nick laughed, shaking his head. “No, thankfully. There were a couple tears from some people…. And I didn’t mess up in the show… so what else is there to say?”

They talked for a little while until Nick said “You know Jess, it’s been almost three weeks since we’ve seen each other.”

“I was just going to touch on that note, actually.” Jessica told him. “I have a few days off from all my craziness, so would you mind if I came along on your tour?”

“Absolutely not! When are the days?”

“Let me think…. Saturday to Tuesday. I’ll find a way to schedule a flight and then let you know exactly when it is.”

He smiled. “That sounds absolutely wonderful. I can’t wait to se you baby.”

“Neither can I, honey” There was another female voice calling for Jessica in the background. “I’m coming mama. I need to go.”

“Ok. I love you”

“I love you too. Talk to you soon” Jessica hung up.

This was wonderful. Nick had his girlfriend coming to look forward to. Now he was not going to be able to sleep for being so excited about seeing her.
He lay awake in the back room of the bus, thinking. Life was really good right now. He had the amount of success he wanted, and his personal life seemed almost perfect. Nothing could come and ruin it. He fell asleep with a smile on his face, content.

~Chapter 2~

Nick arose early on Saturday morning. It was dawn, with the sun barely peeking over the horizon. He had a long day ahead of him. Thankfully Jessica was coming to visit in several hours. Having her around would make things a lot more fun. He couldn’t wait for her to come. Until that moment though, he still had to travel to another city. He sleepily gathered up all his belongings and headed towards the airport.

Two hours later, he was in Dallas, Texas. Rain was gently falling outside. Still, that couldn’t dampen his spirits.
Nick and his [arse]istant, Darren, got into a limo that was waiting for them in the front of the airport. Larry, his manager, has convinced Nick to hire one since his career was skyrocketing, he would need someone to help him along the way. He had been against the idea at first but finally relented when he met Darren. Darren was a very nice guy. He was generous and helpful, and someone Nick would want to be friends with even they weren’t in this situation. So their relationship was more of friends than artist/[arse]istant.
“Are you ready for another busy day?” Darren asked.
Nick nodded. “I suppose so. I’ll be distracted a lot though”
“Why is that?”
“Jessica is coming to visit today, so my mind will be on her”
“Yeah, that is today. What time is she coming?”
“I actually don’t know. She hasn’t called me and told me what time her flight comes in.”
“When was the last time you called her?”
Nick thought for a moment “Thursday”
“Geez, why haven’t you talked to her since then?”
“Well, the both of us are incredibly busy. I will when I get a free moment. For now, there’s work to be done”
“You’re right. Let’s go”

The next few hours was filled with interviews and other boring things. Nick’s mind was not there at all though. He was thinking of Jessica and how much he wished she were there next to him. She called in between interviews and told him she was in an airport and would be on her way shortly.

Then it was on to sound check. There were boring, necessary evils when it came to touring. But it was better if something with the show went wrong then and not in the middle of a show in front of all those fans.
“Nick, have you ever considered working with Jessica?” Darren asked him.
“Not really. Why?”
“Larry mentioned to me earlier. He thinks it might be good idea. Your voices would blend together pretty well. People will buy it too, since it would be a love song performed by a couple that is in love in real life”
“Hmm…. It might be fun. I’ll run it by Jess and see what she thinks about it”
Darren nodded. “Ok. Let’s go”

Sound check went normal for the first few songs. During “You’re The Only Place”, Nick saw a trio of women arriving and sitting in the front row. It was Jessica and her partners in crime, CaCee, her [arse]istant and her mom, Tina. Nick smiled at Jessica, but kept on singing. After the song was over, he jumped down from the stage. Jessica walked up to him and they tightly embraced each other.
“I missed you baby,” He said.
“So did I” They kissed sweetly.
“Can’t you two get a room?” CaCee asked.
“Shut up CaCee” Nick said. “We haven’t seen each other in three weeks” Nick didn’t care too much for CaCee; she could get really annoying sometimes.
“Gee, don’t freak out, Nick, I was just commenting”
Jessica gave her friend a look that shut her up.
“You sounded great up there, hun”
Nick raised an eyebrow “Really? I think it was a little shaky”
Jessica widened her eyes “It was not! Don’t be so critical of yourself, Nicholas! Now get back up there and do what I know you can do!”
Nick smiled “Ok, babe” He kissed her cheek and walked back up onto the stage.

The rest of sound check went off without a problem. Afterwards, Tina and CaCee hung around for a little while in Nick’s dressing room with the couple. Nick was trying his best to hide his annoyance; he had been looking forward to spending some time alone with Jessica. Finally they left the dressing room to wonder around, leaving Jessica and Nick alone.
“Are you okay, Nick?”
He nodded. “Yeah. Why?”
“I don’t know, you were just kind of quiet there for a few minutes” She said.
“CaCee was just kind of getting on my nerves a little bit. Especially when we were greeting each other earlier”
“Trust me, I did too. She’s just a little jealous of me because I have a wonderful and perfect boyfriend and she wants that too” Jessica explained.
Nick snorted. “Me, perfect? No one is!”
“Well, it seems like it to her the way I go on and on about you. I adore you and I want it to be known to everyone. It just kind of hurts her to see us cuddling and being lovey-dovey. But I’m not going to quit it just for her. She really is a great person Nick, you just need to give her a chance”
“I’ll try, babe” Nick ran his fingers through Jessica’s hair. They lay on the couch for a while, in silence. They were enjoying the others company immensely since they didn’t get to have it as often as they would like. It was not meant to be ruined with words.
He kissed Jessica’s cheek. “I love you,” He whispered.
“I love you, too. You’re an amazing boyfriend”
“You’re a wonderful girlfriend” Their lips met, and slowly they engaged in a very steamy make out session. This had been going on for a few minutes, when they heard their door slowly open.
They couple broke away and Jessica turned around to see Tina standing there. “Mother!” she said, exasperated. “Haven’t you ever heard the phrase “knock first!”
The look on Tina’s face was one of pure embarr[arse]ment. “I’m sorry, Jess, Nick” She turned on her heel and headed back out the door.
Jessica rolled her eyes. “Honestly. As much as I love my family, I don’t get as much privacy as I would like. Now, back to what wee were doing before we were RUDELY interrupted”
Nick smiled and they resumed making out. After they were finished, they talked about random things for a while. Then Nick looked at his watch. It was about 6:20; he needed to be getting ready for his show. “As much as I don’t want to, I have to kick you out Jess.”
“Why baby?” Her eyes looked sad.”
“Well, I got to get ready for my show. We’ll get more time alone on the bus tonight, I promise”
She sighed. “Ok” They kissed again. “Love you”
“Love you too. Try to blow me a kiss during the show tonight, ok?”
He smiled. “I promise babe. See you later”
“Bye” Jessica reluctantly got off the couch and walked out.

The next hour was a blur. Nick did all of his pre-show rituals, such as warming up his vocal cords. Then he went on stage. The crowd went buck wild screaming for him. Nick hadn’t heard that loud of a crowd in a while. He went on with the show, everyone screaming, singing and dancing along. During “I Do (Cherish you)”, one of 98’s cl[arse]ics, Nick saw Jessica standing there in the front row. He blew her a kiss, just like he said he would. Jessica blew one back, the words “I love you” being formed by her lips.
Later on the bus, Nick and Jessica curled up on the couch together to watch some random TV. “How did I do tonight baby?”
Jessica looked up at him “Excellent as always. You really know how to drive the girls wild”
“Yeah well, I guess you could say I’m gifted in the looks department” Nick said, shrugging.
“Yes. I’m so lucky to have a man as handsome and sweet as you are”
“Then I’m equally as lucky to have a drop-dead gorgeous girlfriend. I love you”
“I love you, too” They kissed.
