I’ve been talking to my mom about making a story out of it but have never actually done so. But now, I just…I don’t know if it’s a mixture of being bored, depressed, upset…I don’t know but I wanted to type this and just see where the hell it goes.
Summary: A story of young love, maturing, tough struggles, and healing. What happens when the one who was your other half, is no longer there?

"You & Me"

Summer-2005

Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are

~*~*~*~

She rubbed her eyes feeling the irritation from the bright screen she’d been staring at for the past three hours. With one last goodnight to her friend, she clicked her away message up and pushed the button on the monitor turning the screen off. She got up, pushed the chair in and turned out of her room heading for the bathroom. Wash face, brush teeth, feed the fish, lotion on the legs and she’s done her nightly routine as she has done every night for sixteen years. That was her life now…a routine of the same old thing, over and over again. She turned off the bathroom light, closed the door and made her way into her big bed…her empty bed. With a flick of the switch the light was off and she lay back staring at the TV screen. The clock on the VCR read 3:37 am. Not late enough to attempt to sleep yet, she’d have to wait till at least 4:30 for that to happen. Tossing and turning for the umpteenth time she got out of bed and went upstairs to get a gl[arse] of water; she stood over the kitchen sink looking out the window above it…looking into complete darkness. ‘My life…’ She said to herself, put the gl[arse] in the sink and went back down to her room. For the next thirty minutes, she again, tossed and turned. If he were here she’d be fast asleep right now, if he were here she’d never have another nightmare, if he were here she wouldn’t be crying herself to sleep every night…if HE were here…she had to stop. She shook her head of any thoughts of him; she HAD to rid any thoughts of him…but how? How could she when what they had was her whole world? Her reason for being here, for being who and what she was…after crying long enough her eyes closed and she had once again, made it through another day of crying herself to an unsettling, uncomfortable sleep.

"You & Me"

Summer-1997

I had to find you
Tell you I need you
Tell you I set you apart

~*~*~*~

"Teg, come on; we're late!" Seventeen year old Paige Cunningham screamed to her best friend, Tegywn McDowell who was upstairs getting ready for a day at the beach resort they were going to. It was nearing the end of summer and they were going to be Juniors at East Catholic High School. Five minutes later sixteen year old Tegywn made her way down the stairs wearing a Hawaiian wrap around her waist and a white tank top, her pink bikini underneath. Her long blonde hair was down, stopping in the middle of her back. She had a pair of black sungl[arse]es resting atop her head, and a huge beach bag in her arms.

"I'm all set..." She smiled excited for their beach day. They were going to a beach resort that a lot of the high school kids were at this time of year, in Corpus Christi.

"Let's go, we're meeting Alyssa and Sam there." They walked out of Tegywn's house and Paige got into the driver's side of her white jetta taking off for the resort. It was a forty-five minute drive to get there; when they did get there, tons of people covered the area of the sand. They got out and headed towards the sand to find a spot to lay out. When they spotted Sam and Alyssa, they walked over and laid their towels out.

"Hey Teggy..." They smiled hugging her.

"Hey Paige..." Hugging her as well, the four girls made their mark in the sand putting their towels down and stripping down to just their bathing suits. For an hour they laid out in the sun.

"C'mon girlies, its water time!" Alyssa jumped up and announced. Paige and Sam jumped up ready, but Tegywn stayed put.

"Teg, let's go..." Sam whined.

"Go on in, I'm not a fan of the water, I'd rather lay out and get some sun."

"Fine, your loss." The three of them headed towards the water and after laying there a couple minutes, Tegywn, grabbed her purse, took some money from her wallet and wrapped her wrap around her waist, then made her way towards the snack bar.

"Can I help you?" The girl behind the counter asked the man in line in front of Tegywn.

"Yes, can I have chocolate chip cookie dough, two scoops?" His voice caught Tegywn's attention. It was so soft, but scratchy at the same time...scroft. She laughed to herself at her new word she made up. As she stood waiting in back of this man she couldn’t believe how gorgeous he looked. Just from his backside, her mouth watered at the muscles, his strong back, broad shoulders...he was very toned. She giggled to herself at how cute he looked wearing baby blue Hawaiian printed shorts. Her thoughts were interrupted when the voice belonging to the man was talking to her.

"Hot out...ice creams probably going to melt right away." He laughed and Tegywn froze realizing he WAS talking to HER. She laughed nervously.

"Not if you eat it fast enough..." She said back, still smiling.

"True, true..." He grinned then held out his hand. "Aiden Benson..." He introduced himself and Tegywn turned red.

"Tegywn McDowell..." She shook his hand and chills ran through her body.

"Tegywn...that's a cute name, very unique, I like it..." Turning redder, she smiled.

"Thank you..."

"Sir, your ice cream..." The person behind the counter handed it to him and he paid. Aiden moved to the side so Tegywn could order her ice cream. As she waited Aiden continued to talk to her and she was all too happy to talk back. As Tegywn handed her money to the person working there, Aiden stepped closer.

"Tegywn, would you like to walk along the board walk with me while we eat our ice cream?" Her smile reached a mile wide at that moment and she didn't need to think twice...but she did. 'I barely know him, should I do this?' 'What if he's some m[arse] serial rapist killer dude?' She asked herself.

"I promise, I'm not a serial killer...I won't hurt you." He smiled and Tegywn laughed at how he read her mind.

"Well, I'd love to Mr. Benson..." She began flirting. For ten minutes they walked along the board walk, occasionally p[arse]ing other couples, younger couples, older couples, and families. Eventually, coming to a sitting area that had a nice wooden bench they sat down. The sun was beaming on them, and the sweat slowly covered their bodies. Aiden had long finished his ice cream and Tegywn's was on its last bites. They sat there and just talked for ten more minutes. Favorite color, favorite book, favorite movie...they got the entire 411 on each other. One thing that did make Tegywn leery was his age.

"So how old are you...?" She blurted out, not meaning to come across rude. He laughed and looked at her.

"Well, right to the point aren't you?" He teased but she turned red with embarr[arse]ment. "I'm 24 in October..." She gasped and all hopes of actually having something fun with him vanished. "Hey now, I know I'm not spring chicken, but I don't think I am THAT old." He laughed placing a hand over hers...their first contact since shaking hands, and Tegywn completely melted.

"No...it's just...well; I am a lot younger than that." She said quietly.

"Oh come now, how much younger could you possibly be? 20? 21?" He tried guessing.

"I wish..." She was quiet and looked down mumbling her again. "16..."

"Come again?" He asked not hearing her. She turned to him ashamed of her age all of a sudden.

"I'm only 16...I just turned 16 in July." Aiden sat there looking at her and she just continued staring at a piece of the wood on the board walk. She didn't flinch until she felt his arm leave hers, she felt a void now, but it was quickly filled upon feeling his same hand cup her cheek.

"Well, Tegywn McDowell, I don't know about you, but I feel something...something amazing, just being around you." She started turning red at his declaration of adoration for her. "To me...age is simply, some stupid, silly little number...don't you agree?" She looked up at him, a certain twinkle in her eyes and she nodded.

"Yes, but tell that to my parents..." She tried breaking a joke and he did laugh.

"Don't scare me away yet..." He teased. It was silent again, and he held her hand more intimately this time. "I don't want to be scared away; I'd like to know you more Tegywn." She blushed and turned to him.

"I'd like to know you more too Aiden..." She spoke softly, still bashful around him, he didn't care though. He thought it was adorable, he thought she was...adorable. With the realization of feelings for another, the two were able to walk back towards the sand area, and they fit right in...with all the other couples, holding hands, walking along the board walk, it felt...perfect.

This is the end of the first chapter; this story is really my heart and soul, so I think I’ll be working on this one a lot for now.

"You & Me"

Early Summer-2005

Running in circles
Coming up tails
Heads on a silence apart

~*~*~*~

Have you ever been in a crowded room yelling, but felt you were the only one there? That nobody could hear you? What do you do? What do you say...how do you get help?

~*~*~*~

She opened her red, swollen eyes...swollen from tiredness, swollen from depression...swollen from crying.

"Hey...are you awake?" The voice came from behind her. She rolled over and a desparate, forced smile spread when she saw him. He was the only one who could get her to smile these days...even if it was forced. She never forced a smile, or a laugh for anyone else, and she hadn't in almost a year.

"Yeah...I guess that means we better get up so we can get ready and you can go?" Alls he did was nod. The young pair slid out of bed and went their separate ways; her to check her e-mail; him to make them both some breakfast, hoping that today was a good day for her and she'd actually eat some of it. 'No new messages...' She clicked out of the window, threw on his sweatpants and a Red Sox t-shirt he bought her, then made her way to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth. Turning the light off she walked upstairs and saw her favorite buttermilk pancakes on the dining room table. She half-heartedly smiled when she felt arms encircle her waist. She leaned back and rest her head against his chest.

"Try and eat some before we leave; just a little." She had a fearful look in her eyes like it was her enemy. "Please, for me..." She sighed and dragged her feet to the table, she sat and forced the pieces in her mouth one by one. She managed to eat one pancake, but couldn't finish the second one in front of her.

"I have to go get dressed and grab my suitcases." He heard her speak; she nodded and threw her food out. Twenty minutes later, he came back upstairs and placed his bags by the door. She stood and grabbed her keys; it was time to go. Quietly, they made their way to her black SUV and headed for the airport. For the forty five minute drive the two stayed silent, small talk made every now and then...that was it. Pulling into an empty parking lot, they got out and she helped him with his luggage. He checked himself in and his bags then she walked with him as far as the security allowed her. They both haulted and stood in front of each other holding hands.

"This summer is going to suck..." She pouted.

"You'll be okay..." He smiled and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

"I'm gonna miss you..."

"I'll miss you too..." He held her close to his body and she held on tight, ripping at the fabric clothing his shoulders. They stayed that way for five minutes and then he pulled back, seeing the time.

"I love ya chickster..." He teased, using the name he'd given her a long time ago.

"Love ya too mister..." She teased him back. One quick kiss and he was gone, disappeared into the crowd of p[arse]engers going to the same destination as he. She stood there until he was lost from her view and then she turned and left...he was gone and she was alone...again.

-I am ending this one here, the next chapter, you'll see a lot more Teg/Aiden interaction, obviously, if you didn't see that coming. But, in the meantime, sorry this one was short, I still hope you liked it, and remember, feedback is my friend. :)
