Hey y'all

Here's a 98* (But mainly Nick) that I started to write two years ago. I'm gonna post a couple chapters of it and if y'all like it, I'll post more, but if you don't... I won't. Anyway, I hope you enjoy :)

I Wasn’t Over You

Chapter 1

Kristin Renee Leigh Hunter was a pretty girl with a good life. She was 23-year-old who stood 5’8”, with wavy dark blonde hair and the prettiest blue eyes you’ve ever seen. Her figure was slender and athletic, though she wasn’t skin and bones. But her looks weren’t the thing everyone was jealous of. She was the girlfriend of Nick Lachey, a singer in the group 98 degrees.

She and Nick were really close, but lately Kristin was having doubts about their relationship. She has this feeling that he didn’t love her anymore, and was growing apart from her, even though it didn’t seem that way. She also was getting annoyed with the fact that he was away all the time, and was never there for her. She knew it was part of Nick’s job, but that didn’t stop her. She pushed the thoughts away.

Kristin shook her head as she entered the restaurant to meet with friends. “For the umpteenth time, stop thinking about that.” She scolded herself.
“Hi” Her friend, Tia greeted.
“Hello everyone” she said, sitting down.
“So, what’s new?” Kris, a girl with black hair and brown eyes, asked.
“Well,” Katie, a girl with blonde hair and gray eyes, said, “I have a project due in 6 days, and I’m not even close to halfway done.” She put her head on the table.
“What does it have to about?” Tia asked her.
Katie raised her head. “A topic that has something to do with Anthropology” She rolled her eyes. “College is stressful.”
They chuckled.
Alyssa, who had green eyes and brown hair said, “I’m gonna visit Mandi in Cincinnati starting Saturday. Anyone free, and can go?”
Andrea, a redhead, sighed. “I have to work”
“Mom and Dad want me to help them clean out their house, so they can move” Kris said.
Tia shook her head. “Can’t.†
Katie shook her head. “Project. There’s no way I’m going out of town.”
Alyssa looked at Kristin with hopeful eyes. “How about you?”
Kristin nodded “I’m always willing to go visit Mandi. That will be great.”
Mandi and Kristin had been best friends since childhood.
“And, maybe you can see Nick while you there.” Katie teased.
“Yeah right, whatever, the chances of him being there are slim to none, knowing his schedule.” Kristin said, crossing her arms.
“It’s still possible” Alyssa told her. “You never know.”
“Yeah, but still”
“You don’t seem excited. You haven’t cheated on him, have you?” Katie asked her.
Kristin glared at her “Hell no, I’d never do that!”
“Then, why are you so down about it?” Tia asked.
Kristin shrugged. “I dunno” even though she really did know, she just hadn’t told anyone.

That night, Nick called her.

(K-Kristin N-Nick)

K: Hello?
N: Hey, what’s up?
K: Nothing, where are you?
N: You mean what city?
K: Yeah.
N: Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. I just got in my room about an hour ago.
K: Did you perform a good show?
N: Yeah, and you should seen Jeff though. It was funny.
K: (Smiles) What was he doing?
N: First, he slipped and fell on his stomach. Then, his mic stand fell on him. Later, he slipped two times in one song.
K: (Laughs) Typical Jeff. You think he was having an ‘off ’ night?
N: (Laughs) I think so, though I think something else is happening in his life, I’m not sure what.
K: Are you by any chance gonna be in Cincinnati some time soon?
N: Yeah, we arrive Saturday. We have a day off on Sunday. Why?
K: I’m gonna be visiting Mandi. You think you can spare some time for your girlfriend?
N: Of course, Kristin. (Voice in back ground)
N: Drew’s calling me. I gotta go. See you Sunday, ok? Love ya.
K: O.K., you too. Bye Nick.

“Oh man, am I making the right decision?” She thought. But she knew she was, because she loved Nick.

~Chapter 2~

On Saturday, Kristin and Alyssa arrived at Mandi’s house, and rang the bell.
Mandi opened the door, and squealed.
“Hey Manderz” Kristin said.
Mandi hugged the both of them, and led them in her house.

While Alyssa unpacked upstairs, Mandi and Kristin sat in the living room.
“Sp, how are you and Mr. Lachey?” she asked.
“Fine,” Kristin answered. “I have this feeling I can’t get rid of, though.”
Mandi’s blue eyes became concerned. “Spill”
“It’s like, I feel like he don’t love me anymore, even though I know he does. I’m getting slightly fed up with the fact that he’s away all the time, and is never there.”
“You knew that from the start, didn’t you?”
Kristin nodded “Yes, I did, but it’s eating at me a lot. I have no idea what do, Mandi.”
She put her head back.
“Just ignore it. It’ll be fine.” Mandi re[arse]ured her.
Kristin sighed. “I hope your right. Thanks, Manderz.”
Mandi smiled. “No prob. I’m sure y’all will be fine. When are you gonna see him?”
Kristin raised her head. “I will tomorrow. They’re in town, and I’m gonna go over to their hotel.”
“Gonna go see Nick?” asked Alyssa, who had just entered the room.
“Yeah, I’m kinda not looking forward to it.” Kristin flopped on the couch.
“Chill.” Alyssa said. “Just relax. Nothing is wrong with you two.”
Kristin looked at her friend. “I know, I just wish I could convince myself of that.”

~The next day~

Kristin was heading to the hotel the guys were staying in. She was excited, because she always had a good time with them.

She walked into the front door to see Drew.
“Hey Drew,” she said.
Drew looked over at her and smiled. “Hey. What’s up?”
Drew was Nick’s younger brother, and almost as good-looking. With hazel eyes and brown hair, he drove girls wild, including his girlfriend, Alicia (in a good way). He stood 5’6”, two inches shorter than Kristin.
“Nothing just came here to see y’all. Where is everyone?”
“I think in Jeff’s room, follow me.”

She and Drew arrived in Jeff’s room and saw everyone. Alicia, Jeff, his girlfriend Summer, his best friend Britney, Justin, and his girlfriend Stacy. Kristin looked to see the bathroom door closed, so she figured Nick was in there.

As she sat down on the bed, Drew asked, “Jeff, how come you have been screwing up in a lot of shows lately?”
“I got stuff on my mind.” Jeff said.
“What kind of stuff?” Justin asked him.
“None of your beeswax” Jeff told him.
“I know what you’re thinking about” Drew said. “Your next prank on us.”
“Shut up, Andy” Kristin said.
“All right, you’re asking for it” Drew walked across the room, and pounced on Kristin, tickling her.
“Stop it, Shorty, stop it” Kristin said, laughing, even though Drew wouldn’t.
“This is what you get for calling me Andy” Drew told her. Everyone was laughing at Drew’s silly antics.
“Drew, what are you doing to my girlfriend?”
Drew looked over to see Nick standing there, with his arms crossed. “Nothing, Nick” He walked to the other side of the room, snickering.
Nick sat down next to Kristin, who was laying on the bed.
“You ok, Kristin?” Nick asked.
Kristin nodded “I just got in trouble cause I called Drew Andy”
Nick looked at his brother, who had a big grin on his face.
“What you grinning about?” Nick asked him.
“Nothing, Nicky” Drew said in a sweet-sarcastic voice.
Nick rolled his eyes. “You know I hate being called that. It’s too girly.”
“I know” Drew said. “I’m just teasing ya.”
Kristin and Alicia met glances, and shook their heads at them.

Then, Britney and Alicia were walking out of the room. Alicia waved her over, and Kristin followed.

“What is it?” Alicia asked, when they were secure in Britney’s room.
“Well, I have to tell y’all something, you just can tell anyone.” Britney said.
“What is it?” Kristin asked.

~Chapter 3~

“Jeff and I kissed last night.”
“What kind of kiss? Make out or just a peck?” Alicia asked her.
Britney sighed, a slight dreamy look in her eyes. “Make out. We were talking, and it just happened. I was like, ‘This feels good’. I didn’t want it to end.”
“Did Summer catch you two?” Kristin asked.
Britney shook her head. “She was very damn close, though. Jeff and I were kissing, and we could hear Leesh and her talking outside our room. We quickly broke away, and I escaped through the door that connects our rooms.”
“Did you enjoy it?” Alicia questioned.
Britney nodded, getting dreamy again.
Kristin mentally groaned. Britney was so annoying sometimes. At 21, she was 5’7”with brown hair and green eyes, and pretty skinny, she was attractive, but that wasn’t why Kristin didn’t like her. She had this certain way that annoyed Kristin for some reason. When the two first met, Kristin couldn’t stand her. Now, the two were good friends.
“Earth to Kristin, are you there?”
“What, where?” Kristin said distractedly.
“What do you think I should do about Jeff?” Britney asked.
“Well, do you know if he likes you?”
Britney shook her head. “No, not at all.”
“Well, ask him, that’s what I’d do” Kristin told her.
“I would, but he has a girlfriend”
“That is so true” Alicia said. “Summer would not appreciate her boyfriend cheating on her.”
“Just like I wouldn’t with Nick doing it to me.” Kristin thought, sighing.
“Kristin, why do have that look on your face?”
Kristin looked at Britney. “I’m just thinking about Nick. I think I’ll go back to Jeff’s room, and then me and him will go be alone” She stood up, and left the room.

~Back in Jeff’s room~

Summer eyed Kristin suspiciously. “What were you three talking about?” she asked.
“Nothing” Kristin said simply.
She sat down next to Nick.
She whispered in his ear “Nick, do you think we could go spend some time alone now?”
Nick nodded. “I was just thinking the same thing.” The couple stood up to go.
“Where do you think your going?” Jeff asked.
Kristin simply glared at him. The two walked out of the room.

~In Nick’s room~

Nick laid on the bed, and Kristin sat in a chair nearby. “You look tired” Kristin commented.
“I definitely am. This damn touring thing is wearing me out.”
“But, don’t you like it?” she asked.
Nick nodded. “It sometimes just gets to me. I do enjoy it.” Nick turned to her. “But you know what?”
“What?”
“It can get boring and lonely. Could you go on tour with me for awhile?”
Kristin went through a mental run through of her schedule for the next month. “I don’t have much of anything I HAVE to do in the next month, so I guess I can.”
Nick grinned. “Thanks, babe.”
Kristin walked over to the bed, and laid next to him.
Nick wrapped his muscular arms around her, and kissed the top of her head. “I love you, Krissy”
Kristin smiled. She loved it when he called her that.
“I love you too, Nick”
Right then, she knew that this was where she belonged. Nick loved her, and she loved him. There was no reason they shouldn’t be together.
In a few minutes, Kristin was asleep in his arms.

~Chapter 4~

Waking up in Nick’s arms felt natural to Kristin. It made so much sense to be with him, but yet it didn’t. “This is confusing.”
She looked up at him. He looked so peaceful sleeping there. “But yet, he treats me so good. He’s always giving me a reason to stay him.
Nick opened his eyes and smiled. “Morning, sweetie, doing ok?”
Kristin nodded.
Nick got up and took a shower.

While Nick was in the shower, Kristin sat in thought. She was asking herself, “Is it right to be here?” She wasn’t sure if she had an answer, or if she ever would.
“Maybe a talk with Drew will help,” she thought, as she put on a blue halter and short shorts. Brushing her hair, and putting on some makeup, she thought, “This feels better”

Just then, Nick walked into the room, wrapped only in a towel.
Kristin sighed, “Damn, he looks so hot.” With his muscular arms and chest, and soulful blue eyes, Nick was a hunk with a capital H.
“You’re sure looking sexy.”
Kristin crossed her arms. “Me? Look at you! You’re making me hot!” She fanned herself with her hand.
Nick smiled and chuckled. “Your too much” and walked back into the bathroom.
Kristin shook her head.

Nick and Kristin walked out into the hotel lobby, hand in hand, when they heard, “Hey, it’s the lovebirds.”
Nick looked at Jeff. “Shut up, Jeffie.”
That got to Jeff. “You little” but Drew stopped him. “Jeff, quit.”
Nick and Kristin looked at each other and shook their heads at them.

~Two weeks later~

Kristin stood outside on the patio that was off Drew and Alicia’s room. She was so confused. Part of her wanted to leave him, cause she felt it wasn’t right to be here. But, on the other hand, she wanted to stay, cause she loved him.
“I swear, when will this confusion end?” she asked herself, sighing, about to lose her sanity, and bang her head against the wall.
Then, Alicia, Summer, and Britney came out on the porch “Feeling ok?” Alicia asked.
“I’m about to go insane, Leesh” Kristin said.
“Care to share?” Britney asked.
“Yeah, but you can’t tell anyone.”
Britney, Alicia, and Summer nodded “We won’t.”
“I’m stuck on my relationship with Nick. I feel like I shouldn’t be with him or something.” Kristin said.
“Kristin, you should” Alicia protested, “When I’m with drew, and Nick comes in, He talks about how wonderful you are to him.”
“And, when y’all are together, we can tell how perfect you two are.” Britney added.
Kristin nodded “I know that, Brit, but I have a feeling that I shouldn’t, and it’s biting at me.”
“Don’t let it get to you” Summer said. “Just ignore it, and you’ll be fine.”
Kristin sighed. “I hope so.”
“Maybe a talk with Drew will help” Alicia suggested. “See things from a male perspective.”
“Sounds good” Kristin pushed a few strands of hair back. “Now, let’s go back inside.”

During the conversation, Kristin had noticed that Summer looked a little sadder than usual. She shook it off, though “I guess it’s none of my business.”

~Chapter 5~

Kristin was walking back to her room, when she heard “Kris, wait up!”
She turned around to see Drew walking up to her. “Drew, can I talk to you in my room?”
Drew nodded “Sure”

Once they were settled in Kristin and Nick’s room, Drew asked, “So, what is it?”
“Well, I’m confused about my relationship with Nick” she said.
“Why is that?”
Kristin sighed. “I feel like I shouldn’t be with be with Nick, and I think he don’t love me anymore. I’m also getting fed up with the fact that he’s away all the time.”
Drew thought for a minute. “You knew that he was gonna be away a lot from the beginning, didn’t you?
Kristin nodded “Yeah, I did. But it’s not so much that, as it is just thinking I shouldn’t be with him.”
“Why do you think you shouldn’t be with him?” Drew asked.
Kristin sighed. “For some dumb reason, I think he don’t love me, and are growing apart from him.”
“Well, sometimes if me and Alicia are together, Nick comes over, just for the heck of it, and we don’t mind. I have personally heard him talk about how much he loves you, and is glad you’re in his life.”
“Alicia told me that, too” Kristin said “But, this little feeling don’t believe it.”
“Kris, do you have any idea how much you’d break his heart if you left him?” Drew asked.
Kristin shook her head. “No idea, Drew”
“So, I’m saying, just focus on your relationship, and your thoughts will go away. Or, if you really want to, talk to Nick” Drew told her.
“The first idea sounds more appealing” Kristin said. “Thanks Drew that helped.”
Drew smiled. “Your welcome.” They hugged.

Kristin walked out of the hotel, and sighed. “I need to clear my head”

After walking around for an hour, she returned to find Britney, Alicia, Summer, and Stacy waiting for her.
“What’s up?” she asked.
“The guys are at rehearsal for tonight’s show, and we have to be there with them” The five girls got in the van, with Britney in the driver’s seat.

“Did your talk with Drew help?” Alicia asked.
Kristin nodded “Yeah, and I walked around for an hour, and now I feel fine.”
“So, now you’re not going insane?” Britney asked.
Everyone laughed, and Kristin shook her head. “Nope, I have regained my sanity.”
“How close were you to losing it?” Britney asked.
“About this close” Kristin’s finger and thumb were almost touching. “And I love my sanity, so don’t make me lose it” That made all five girls laugh.

~At rehearsal~

Kristin smiled as she watched Nick and the other guys sing. She felt so lucky to have Nick in her life.
At the moment, they were singing one of Kristin’s favorite 98 degrees songs “Heaven’s Missing An Angel”
Nick was looking straight at her as he sang:

Not a day goes by
I don’t thank God for you
He blessed me with my angel
Though I don’t deserve you
Before I met you girl
Lonely was my best friend
Now that you are in my life
I am stronger within.

I can’t wait to kiss my angel
Late at night
And watch her go to sleep
Until I see her rise

A few songs later, the girls got down as they did “Do You Wanna Dance”. All the guys were smiling at them. They could tell they wanted to laugh too.

~After rehearsal~

Kristin was walking back stage, when she felt Nick wrap his arms around her.
“Hey Krissy”
Kristin smiled, and turned around, to look in his eyes. “Great rehearsal, Nick”
“Thanks, we always try” Just then they heard noises from down a hall. Turns out, they found Jeff and Britney making out.
“If you guys are that into each other, I’d get a room!” Nick said in a little louder tone down the hall.
Jeff and Britney stopped and walked up to them.
“You know, you’re cheating on Summer”
“No, I’m not, we broke up this morning.” Jeff said.
“Summer hasn’t said anything about it.” Kristin commented.
“yeah” Britney added
“It was a pretty bad fight” Jeff told them.
“That is so like you, Jeffie” Kristin smiled.
Jeff shot her a warning look, and Kristin ran behind Nick’s back.
“We were just warning you” Nick said.
“Well, thanks for the warning” Jeff said sarcastically. With that, they were off. Kristin came out, and shaking their heads, Kristin and Nick headed off to the guys’ dressing room.

~Chapter 6~

~In the dressing room~

“You feeling ok?”
Kristin nodded “Yeah, why you ask?”
“I dunno, just the way you were today kinda scared me.” Nick said to her.
“You don’t have to worry about anything” And she was right. He didn’t. Then, they began to kiss.
That was another reminder that Kristin had to stay with Nick. The kisses they shared always felt so good, and she loved that.
Once they broke away, Kristin left to just wonder around backstage.

She found Summer, with her bags packed. “What are you doing, Sum?” she asked.
Summer sighed. “I’m leaving. Jeff and I are so over. Besides, him and that Britney chick belong together. I swear they make me sick” she picked up her stuff “Later, Kris.” She walked away.
Kristin sighed, “I wonder it they were having problems before Jeff and Britney got together”
She turned around to see Jeff. “Well, Summer has left you”
Jeff nodded. “I know it. We were having problems before I pursued Britney, so you don’t have worry about it”
“oh ok” Kristin went off in search of Britney and Alicia.

~After the show, on the bus~

Everyone was sitting around watching TV, and Kristin was asleep in Nick’s lap.
Nick looked down at his girlfriend. She looked so angelic sleeping there. Nick felt so lucky to have her in his life. Though her recent behavior concerned him, he really didn’t think of it.
“And thank god she’s here with me.” He thought. “She’s my angel, I dunno what I’d do without her.”
He ran his fingers through her hair, and gave a kiss on her cheek.

~In the next city~

Though Kristin seemed awake, she was really half asleep. “It should be [censored]ing illegal to be awake at this hour” she groaned.
“What’s wrong, babe?” Nick asked.
I’m just tired., I can’t wait to get in our room and crawl in bed with you” she grinned.
Nick grinned back. “I know, me too.”
“What are you two ginning about?” Jeff asked.
Kristin rolled her eyes. “None of your business. Besides, you probably have some business with Britney to take care of, like I don’t know, something unmentionable?”
She and Nick laughed and Jeff blushed till he had a totally red face.
“what was that?” Britney asked.
Kristin grinned innocently. “Nothing Britney” Kristin looked at Nick.
Britney shook her head. “I swear, you and Nick are so perfect for each other, it makes me sick” Britney made a sick face like she was gonna throw up.
Everyone laughed, and she turned to Jeff.
“Come on Jeffie, we have some unfinished business to do.” The two walked into the hotel, arm in arm.
Everyone was shaking their heads and Alicia said “I wonder what’s going on with them”
“I don’t think any of us wanna know that” Drew said.
Everyone laughed in agreement.

~The next morning~

Mandi called Kristin.

(M-Mandi K-Kristin)

K: Hello?
M: Hey Kris, what’s up?
K: Nothing, just trying to find everyone.
M: I have good news.
K: Spill.
M: My boyfriend, Brad has asked me to marry him.
K: Wow. What did you say?
M: Yes, even though I was caught totally off guard.
K: Why? Y’all have been dating for 3 years, ever since you started college.
M: I dunno, I’m still young and I’m not sure if I’m ready for marriage yet.
K: Mandi, you’ve been my best friend since 2nd grade. I know you too well. Remember the night of prom in our senior year of high school? You told me you wanted to get married early in life. And it surprised me, because you were more of a wild child.
M: and you thought I was crazy. Now, I’m 22 and I can do that. I’m still not sure though.
K: Manderz, think about this. Do you know how much you will hurt Brad if you don’t marry him?
M: Yes.
K: And do you want to do that?
M: No, what’s your point, Krissy?
K: That if unless you want to break Brad’s heart, and ruin everything, you will walk down the aisle, even if I have to personally escort you.
M: (laughs) ok
(convo goes on)
After Kristin had hung up, she was exhausted. Mandi could sure exhaust her out.

10 minutes later, she found everyone and sat down next to Britney. “Did I embarr[arse] you and Jeff last night?”
Britney nodded “Yes. Why did you do it?”
“Well, Jeff over there was interfering and prying into a private thing between me and Nick. So, I figured I’d make the both of you pay for it.” Kristin explained. “I’m sorry though.”
“It’s ok” Britney paused. “This time. Dare do it again, you’re in trouble”
Kristin nodded “Ok”
Kristin looked at Jeff. “Have you learned your lesson, Jefferz?”
Jeff rolled his eyes “You know I hate being called that, you’re asking for it.”
Kristin ran into Nick’s lap, and curled up in him. “Hurt her, and you answer to me” Nick told Jeff.
Jeff nodded, but he didn’t the least bit scared. Kristin got off Nick, and Nick and Jeff went out of the room to talk. Against her better intentions and judgment, she followed them and stood outside where they were, and listened.

Jeff: I swear Nick, that girlfriend of yours is a little *****!
Nick: Oh? And why do you say that?
Jeff: She embarr[arse]ed the crap out of me and Britney last night.
Nick: And what about you? You were invading OUR privacy.
Jeff: I thought y’all had something bad cooking up. I’m sorry.
Nick Well, you haven’t done much better. Britney gets on my nerves, and man she does sometimes!
Jeff: Shut up!

At this point, Drew had joined Kristin on listening to their conversation.

Nick: No, you [censored]ing shut up! If you diss me or my girlfriend, I diss back. If you don’t, I don’t. That’s the rule.
Jeff: Says who?
Nick: I do.
Jeff: You aren’t the boss around here Nick.
Nick: Whatever just leave me alone!

Kristin and Drew exchanged glances. They knew there was trouble brewing up.

~At the hotel room that night~

Kristin was packing up her stuff to go home. She’d had enough of tour life. As fun as it was, she was excited to go home and relax a little.

But the way Nick had been to Jeff that afternoon had scared her a little. She had no idea that Nick could be that defensive when it came to the subject of her. She hoped the relationship between him and Jeff wasn’t ruined.

Nick came to her side. “Hey Kris, what are you doing?”
“Packing” Kristin said. “I’m ready to go home”
“You sure?” Nick asked. “You don’t want to stay to the end of the tour?”
Kristin shook her head. “Nope, I don’t think so.” She turned to face Nick. “I like it and all but still, it’s just that I’m ready go to home.” She paused. “Me and Drew couldn’t help but overhear the fight you and Jeff had this afternoon. You guys aren’t mad at each other, are you?”
Nick shook his head. “No, I don’t think so. You don’t have to worry about us.” He wrapped his arms around Kristin.
Kristin stood there for a few minutes in Nick’s arms. She felt so safe and loved. She knew that Nick loved her, and that made her feel safe.
After Kristin was finished packing, the couple said their little private goodbye, and Kristin walked out into the hallway. Once there, she ran into Alicia. “Hey Leesh” she said.
“hi” she said “Going somewhere?”
“Yeah, I’m going home, actually.” Kristin smiled shyly.
“Party spoiler” Alicia said teasingly. “You’re gonna miss out on some fun.”
Kristin sighed. “I would stay longer, but I want to go home. Have fun without me.”
Alicia grinned, “Oh, we will”

Hey y'all

I had this story written to a cd, but then I accidentally overwrote over it, losing the story. So i am just going to rewrite it all over again. It'll pretty much be the same plot, just tweaked a little bit here and there. So look for it soon :)

Turns out that I had another disc that this story and others on it :) I'm so happy :) So here's a few more chapters :)

Chapter 7~

~At home in Lexington, KY~

Kristin was sitting alone in her house when her phone rang. She picked it up. “Hello?”

“Krissy? Is that you?” Kristin immediately knew it was her mom. And she didn’t like the tone her mom had.

“Hi mom. Do you need to talk to me about something?” Kristin asked.

She could hear her mom chuckle. “I don’t know how you caught that so quick, but yes I do.”

“What is it?” Kristin was anxious to hear what it was.

“Actually, honey, could you come to my house sometime soon?”

Kristin sighed. “I can on Saturday.”

“ok, see you then, sweetie”

Kristin definitely didn’t like the tone her mom had, and sensed something was wrong. She was nervous about what would happen on Saturday, but was ready for whatever her mom had to say to her.

~Later that night~

Kristin was reading a book, when a knock came upon her front door. She was confused, wondering who it could be, but she walked to the front door and answered.
A girl of about seventeen stood there. She stood about 5’5”, with gray eyes and brown hair. She was decently skinny, but not skin and bones.
“May I help you?” Kristin asked.
“Krissy? It’s me, Amanda.”
Kristin smiled. She knew it was her little sister by the sound of her voice.
Amanda was the youngest of the three children. When their parents divorced, mom kept Kristin and Bryan, her younger brother, and poor Amanda had been forced to move out with their dad.
At the time, Kristin was 16, Bryan was 14, and Amanda was 10. When their dad and Amanda moved out they weren’t sure if they would ever see them again.

Kristin invited Amanda in, and the two girls sat in the living room. “so, Amanda, how you find me and how did you get here?”
“Well” Amanda began “Dad began to get kinda abusive, so I knew I had to get out. I talked to our school counselor, and she asked me if I had any other siblings or parent. I immediately thought of you, and knew you’d take me in. So, I searched on the internet, trying to find you. When I did, I had my friend and her mom snuck me out of Dad’s house so I wouldn’t get caught. We did this in the middle of the night, and I stayed at the airport until my plane took of at 11:20.”
“How did you manage to do it?” Kristin asked.
Amanda shrugged “I did it somehow.”
“It does sound like something you would do, cause you were so crazy.” Kristin commented.
Amanda laughed. “I know” Her face then turned serious. “So can I stay?”
Kristin smiled. “I’d be glad to have you stay. You’ll be in my guest room.”
Amanda smiled. “Thanks, Kris. You’re the best big sis.”
The two sisters embraced and then Amanda asked “so, Kristin ,what’s been going on in your life recently?”
“well, you heard of 98 degrees?” Kristin asked.
Amanda nodded.
“Well, my current boyfriend happens to be none other than Nick Lachey.”
Amanda’s gray eyes widened. “No freakin way! How and when did you meet him?”
Kristin smiled as she remembered the story. “I was babysitting at our aunt’s house and we were watching Disney Channel. All of a sudden, this video comes on. It was from 98 degrees. I couldn’t keep my eyes off Nick as I watched it. A few weeks later, I saw him somewhere, and we got to talking. Before I knew it, we were dating.”
“You’re so lucky” Amanda said.
“Nick’s the greatest guy, though. I feel so lucky to have him, yet I’m so confused about our relationship.” Kristin said.
“Why are you so confused?” Amanda asked.
“Because” Kristin said “I feel like he don’t love me anymore, and we don’t belong together. But, I was on tour with him recently and I almost convinced myself, that my fears are totally stupid, and I shouldn’t feel the way I did.”
Amanda nodded. “I felt that way about a guy before, but it went away. Don’t worry Kris, y’all be fine”
Kristin smiled. “I hope so”

After a few minutes Kristin said “Mom called me and told me she had something to tell me, and I don’t like the sound of her voice.”
Do you have any idea what it is?” Amanda asked.
Kristin shook her head. “I wish I did.”
Going to bed that night, Kristin felt good. Her little sister was living with her, and she had a good life. “Hopefully, nothing will change that too soon.” She thought.

~On Saturday, at her mom’s house~

Kristin and Amanda walked up to their mom’s house front door, and Kristin rang the door bell. She noticed Amanda was shaking slightly. “What’s wrong, Mandy?” she asked.
“I’m just really nervous, because I haven’t seen Mom in 7 years, I’m hoping she’ll recognize me.” Amanda sighed.
Kristin smiled. “She will”
Just then, their mom, Susan answered the door, and Kristin said “Look who showed up on my doorstep the other day, Mom?” Amanda walked up next to Kristin.
Susan’s eyes widened. “Amanda Leigh Hunter, is that you?’
Amanda smiled. “Yeah, it’s me.”
Amanda and Susan embraced in a joyful reunion, and then Susan turned Kristin. “How did you find her?”
“I didn’t” Kristin said “Amanda came to me.”
“I did a crazy thing, but that’s ok” Amanda said.
They all laughed.

~Inside the house~

As soon as they were settled in the house, Susan said “so, Amanda, tell me how you came to Kristin.”
Amanda told it just like she’d told Kristin.
“In what ways was Daniel abusive?” Susan asked.
(Daniel is their dad)
Amanda sighed. “mostly verbally, but he’s hit me a few times. His new girlfriend isn’t too pleasant, either. I knew I had to get out of there.”
“It’s a good thing you did. I never trusted your father since he cheated on me” Susan sighed.
“Is that why you guys divorced?” Kristin had never known that her father had done that.
“Mostly, but we’d had problems for at least 6 months before that.” She paused. “It’s nice to know your father hasn’t changed”
“Mom, what was it that you wanted to tell me on the phone?” Kristin couldn’t take it anymore. She had to know.
“I’d been having some problems medically recently and the doctor told me I have a rare form of a disease. I don’t know what it is and it’s hard to explain. There are two kinds of it. There’s a kind where you can live to near normal life and have no symptoms, and there’s the other kind, where you can get really sick, and stay in the hospital for a long time”
“do you know which type you have?” Amanda asked.
Susan shook her head. “No, it’s impossible to tell”
“Does Bryan know?”
(Bryan was the middle child and their brother)
“Yes, he does, he’s going to come down in a week to see us.”

With the serious part of the visit out of the way, the visit was really enjoyable. Susan even made their favorite meal, ham and cheese potato c[arse]erole.

The next day Kristin went to Shoney’s for some Sunday brunch. She spotted Katie and Alyssa already seated at a table, Katie waved and Kristin sat with them. “Hey girls, what’s up?”
“Nothing” Alyssa said “Just talking about what took place last night”
“What was it?” Kristin asked.
“You know my friend, Jess?”
Kristin nodded. Jess was Katie’s guy friend, who was a cl[arse]mate at the college she went to, and she had a slight crush on him.
“Well, you know that Kris’s real name is Chrysanthemum, and I called her that. So, Kris went after Jess, flirting with him, trying to seduce him into leaving with her. Jess wouldn’t have it, and pushed her away. Kris looked upset about that and Tia and Andrea went to her rescue, trying to get Jess to leave with her, but Jess is too smart for that. So then, Kris got so mad, she tried to beat me up. I got away with just a scratch, but still, Tia and Andrea are on her side. Lyss and I hate them now. You would too, if you were there”
“I do, from just hearing this. I can’t believe Kris did that”
Alyssa nodded. “We can’t either”

After Kristin had gotten some food, she said “I have plenty to tell y’all.”
“Spill” Alyssa told her.
So, she told them about what her mom had told her and Amanda coming back into her life.
“did you go see Nick that one weekend?” Katie asked.
She nodded “Yeah. I’m beginning to doubt our relationship, but the thoughts were pushed away”
“You shouldn’t. You guys are fine.” Alyssa re[arse]ured her.
“I hope so” Kristin stared at her food. “Life’s gonna be [crap]ty the next few weeks or months”
“You got that right” Katie said “Especially knowing the way Kris is”

~Chapter 8~

And Kristin was right. Life became a whole lot [crap]tier. Her friends were in a big duel with Katie, Alyssa, and herself on one side, and Kris, Tia, and Andrea on the other. Her mom was becoming sicker by the day, even with her younger brother Bryan taking care of her. And Amanda seemed to sense that Daniel come back and fight for her custody, but Kristin re[arse]ured her that he probably wouldn’t, and even if he did, Kristin Bryan and Susan would protect her.

One night, Kristin, Bryan, and Amanda were at Kristin’s house, hanging out, when Amanda seemed to tense up. “What’s wrong, Manda?” Bryan asked her.
“I feel someone coming, and I don’t like it” She explained. “It’s just this weird feeling I have, I can’t explain it”
And Amanda was right. There was a rapping in the door, and it certainly wasn’t friendly.
“I have funny feeling it’s Dad” Bryan said.
“Why would it be?” Kristin asked, but she was really scared.
Kristin answered it, and it was certainly Daniel. Kristin hadn’t seen him in several years, but he looked just as fierce as she remembered him.
“What do you want, Dad?” she asked with an icy tone.
“Where’s Amanda?” Daniel asked.
“Like you would care, you’ve been so abusive to her.” That was Bryan, staring at his father with intense hate in his hazel eyes. Daniel pushed Kristin aside, and went for Bryan, but Bryan fought his father off. The duel went to the living room, where Daniel went for Amanda. Bryan and Kristin wrestled him off, and eventually broke their sister free.
Amanda was sorta hurt, but not too much.
Kristin stood up, rage intensifying in her ice blue eyes. “Why don’t you get out of here, because we want absolutely nothing of you, you [freak]ing bastard.”
“Well, you’ve certainly have turned out to be a [nice person]” Daniel replied. Before Kristin knew it, she was being abused. She tried to escape, but couldn’t . “AMANDA, BRYAN, HELP ME!” she screeched.
Amanda and Bryan tried to pry their oldest sister free, but by the time she was freed, she was beat up, with a ton of starches and bleeding slightly. Amanda ran from the room to get her sister stuff for her cut. Bryan got a hold of the knife Daniel was using, and pointed it at him. “You better get out of here” Bryan threatened “Before you do more damage”
Daniel had this sinister smile on his face “I will, before you haven’t seen the last of me.”
With that, Daniel left.
Kristin was shaking and crying by that time. She let Amanda bandage her arm, and Bryan put his arm around her shoulders “Here’s what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna go to the hospital, and have you looked at. And hopefully, we can go home, and this’ll be all over with .”
Kristin nodded a thankful nod at her brother.
“You think you’ll be ok?” Amanda asked.
Daniel had attacked them all, but Kristin had gotten it the worst. Kristin sighed. “I think so” she said quietly.
Bryan and Amanda helped her up, and led to Bryan’s Toyota Echo, and laid her down in the backseat.

They reached the hospital in 10 minutes, and were immediately taken back.
As Kristin laid in the makeshift bed, she was shaking and extremely scared. “Where’s Nick when I need him?” She thought.
After 5 minutes, their uncle Jonathan, who’d they’d hadn’t see for 10 years, came in.
“Uncle John!” Amanda exclaimed. “I didn’t know you were a doctor!”
He chuckled “I have been the last 9 years. So what brings you kids in here?”
“Well,” Bryan explained “Dad came to our house, and he abused us physically.”
“Any injuries?” John asked.
Amanda showed him the starch she’d gotten and he said that it was nothing.
“Any others?”
Kristin whimpered a little. “I have a big injury.”
John took the bandage on Kristin’s arm off, despite her yelps, and asked “Whoa, how’d you get that”
“He stabbed me with a dagger”
John shook his head. “I knew Daniel would get abusive on you kids one day or another. No problem, I know of a doctor who can perform a surgery to sew that nasty cut right up. You’ll be out of here by 3:00 am, ok?”
Kristin nodded.

The surgery went by fast, and soon Kristin found herself at home laying on her bed, given orders from John not to move her arm for a few days.
She knew that she had to call Nick right away, because she needed to hear his voice after such a terrifying night.

“Hello?” Nick’s voice sounded really sleepy.

“Nick? It’s Krissy. Did I wake you up?”

“Yeah. What are you doing calling this late at night?”

“Well, I’m sorry, but something really terrible happened to me tonight.”

“Oh no, what?” Nick’s voice now filled with concern.

“Have I ever told you anything about my father, Daniel?” she asked.

“No, not anything” Nick said.

So, she began to give him all the background information about everything that was happening, leading up to the incident.

“So, my father came to my house, and abused us. I got it the worst.”

“what did he do to you?”

“Stabbed me in the left arm, and a few other scratches.”

Silence form the other end. “Are you ok now?” Nick asked.

“No, not really. I’d feel so much better if you were here right now.” Kristin looked down at the floor.

“I wish I could be there, but my schedule takes too much of my time.”

Kristin rolled her eyes. It was always the same excuse. His damn schedule. She knew he had a time-consuming job, but he never had time to come see her when she had time to come see him.
She sighed. “I’m really scared, though, Nick. What do I do?”

“Keep yourself on guard, and if your dad tries to come and hurt you like that again, call the cops, ok?”

“ok”

“is there anything else on your mind, because I think there is.”

Kristin then told him about her mom and the fight she and her friends were in.

“wow, I wish I could be by your side right now”

“I wish you could too, but you’re always giving me the same excuse.”

Nick let out a frustrated sigh. “Krissy, how many times do I have to tell you, I don’t have or can get the time. You know that.”

“I know you don’t but I can’t help but wish you could”

“Trust me, you don’t know how much I’d love a week off, but it ain’t gonna happen, unless a miracle happens” Nick’s voice sounded sad.

All of a sudden, Kristin felt really tired. She yawned. “I think I’ll go now. I’m sorry I woke you up.”

“It’s alright, babe. I really don’t mind. Sleep tight, ok?”

“all right, good night, Nick”

“Night, Krissy”

Kristin felt so much better after calling Nick. Even though he was so far away, she was glad she had him on her side. “we’re gonna stay together”
With that, she fell asleep with pleasant dreams on her mind.

~Chapter 9~

~A few weeks later~

Kristin, Alyssa, and Katie were hanging in Katie’s dorm, when Alyssa asked, “So, have you told Nick what’s been going on?”
Kristin sighed sadly “yeah, but I wish he could get time to see me. things have gotten worse”
And she was right. Her mother had gotten terribly sick, her father was threatening Bryan, Amanda, and herself all the time they were in his presence, and wanted to take Amanda back into his custody. The fight that her friends were in was really bad, too.

“I’m really sacred, though”
“what about?” Katie asked.
“That my dad will get totally psycho and want to kill me, Bryan, or Amanda, and I’m scared he’ll hurt my mom, too. She’s the only one who hasn’t been abused by him, though she doesn’t know about it.” Tears were forming in Kristin’s eyes.
“Has your father been over to your mom’s house?” Alyssa asked.
Kristin shook her head. “but I’m afraid that if he does, he’ll get really abusive again”
She looked at her arm. “now would be a perfect time to get a hug from Nick.” She said to herself.
“cheer up” Katie said “Maybe a miracle is possible, and you’ll get through all of this adversity without your dad hurting you”
“we’ll see” Kristin sighed. “Your lucky you have Jess, Katie”
“speaking of him, we’re dating now”
“really?” Alyssa asked excitedly. “When did this happen?”
”well, we were in our favorite spot in a coffeehouse near campus a few days ago, and he says, ‘Katie-bear, what would you say if I told you I wanted to be a couple?” I go “ I would say that I’d like to one. Why, do you want to?” He said ‘yeah, and it’s true feelings.’ So, basically, that’s how it happened.”
“are you sure you want it this way?” Kristin asked.
Katie nodded. “oh yeah, I’m sure about it. Me and Jess are so close, so why not? Of course, if we go back to friends, I’ll be fine with that”
Kristin smiled. “I’m happy for you, Kay. At least you have a boyfriend who’s here.”
“don’t worry, Kris.” Alyssa said. “Nick will get a chance to see you, I feel it”
Kristin looked at Alyssa. “I hope so”

~Later that night~

It was about 9:00 pm, and Kristin was relaxing in front of her TV, in sweats and a tank top. “This is the life” Kristin thought. “lounging in front of the TV, snacking on butter popcorn, my favorite snack”
Suddenly, there was a knock on the front door. “Hmm” she thought “Who’d be visiting me at this hour?” She turned off the TV, and walked to the door.

To her biggest surprise, it was the last person she expected to see. Nick. Dressed in a simple black sweater and khakis, he looked incredibly sexy to her. “Nick!” she screeched, jumping into his arms.
The embraced for a few minutes, and Nick said “Surprise”
“How did you get the time?” Kristin asked him.
Nick shrugged. “our manger thought we deserved the break before we go back to record.”
Kristin smiled, and led him into the house.
Sitting down the couch, Nick asked her. “do you mind if I stay here with you while I’m in town?”
Kristin shook her head. “No, not at all. Actually, I’ll feel a little safer with you here.” She paused. “dad’s been really threatening recently, since I last talked to you.”
She then filled him in on what had been happening recently.
“Sounds like your going through a lot.”
She nodded. “oh yeah” She put her arm forward to show Nick where her father had stabbed her.
“How’s your arm?”
“all right. It hurts a little, but it’s ok”
“Are you afraid that Daniel will hurt you again?” Nick asked her.
Kristin nodded “yeah, I’m scared that he’ll hurt me, but I try to not think about it. I really don’t want to get hurt again, though.”
“Don’t worry, Krissy.” Nick told her. “if he lays one finger on you, he’s gonna get his [arse] kicked.” He wrapped her in his arms.
Kristin sighed a blissful sigh. She loved Nick, and always felt safe in his arms. “Everything is gonna be ok between us” she thought, as they laid there together.

~The next night, Alyssa’s house~

Jess, Katie, some of her college friends, Jenn, C[arse]idy, Britt, Aaron, Hunter, Alyssa, her friend Jacqueline, Kristin, and Nick were gathering Alyssa’s living room, munching on food, hanging out, having a good time.

Kristin had noticed that Katie’s friend Hunter was checking her out. She thought he was kinda cute, but still, thought nothing of him. Besides, she had Nick.

Soon, Kris entered, with Tia and Andrea looking like her stupid sidekicks.
“What the [freak] do you think your doing here?” Alyssa asked angrily.
“It’s a free country” Kris replied simply. “And I’ve come to get my guy”
“Your guy?” Jess stood up, his gray eyes filled with rage. “Your such a [freak]ing *****. I don’t see why you pursue me when you know I don’t like you.”
“Because I want you” Kris said seductively.
Jess shook his head. He walked up to her, and to everyone’s surprise, pushed her down.
Kris tried to get up from her spot, but was overwhelmed with surprise at Jess’s actions.
Tia and Andrea looked at Jess with rage in their eyes.
“What are you looking at me that way?” Jess asked “you two are just as [nice person]y”
Kris had gotten up by then, with fight in her eyes.
“Get the [freak] out, Kris, you don’t belong here” C[arse]idy said
Kris rolled her eyes “I don’t have time for you guys, I’m outta here”
With that, she left.
Claps and cheers came throughout the room
“THE [nice person] is gone!” Jenn said
Katie sighed “This is such a relief”

While everyone was celebrating that Kris was gone, Kristin was deep in thought, and not really there.
Her father had made a threat to her earlier and she didn’t like the tone of his voice. He called her and they had gotten into a huge argument. Kristin had said something he had considered disrespectful and threatened to abuse her even more if she said something like it again. Kristin had gotten scared and hung up. No one knew about that phone call and she intended it to stay that way.
“You feeling ok, Krissy?” Nick asked her.
She nodded. “Yeah, I’m just thinking”
Just then, Alyssa suggested they go down the basement for some dancing. Kristin thought it would be a good idea, to get her mind of her father for awhile.

A slow song came on and Nick and Kristin got on the floor.
Kristin wrapped her arms around Nick’s neck and buried her face in his chest as they swayed to the music.
“This is where I belong” Kristin thought. “I can’t think of any better place to be other than here”
She looked into Nick’s eyes, which were glowing with p[arse]ion. “I love you,” He whispered.
“I love you too, Nick” she whispered.



~Chapter 10~

WARNING: This chapter has a little more steamy content.

Kristin and Nick arrived back at her house and found themselves in her bedroom.
The both of them laid down on her bed and Nick started playing with her tank strap.
“Why don’t you take it off?” Kristin asked him.
Nick looked into Kristin’s eyes and asked her “Are you suggesting that we… go all the way?”
Kristin nodded.
“But I thought you told me you didn’t want to do that before marriage.”
Kristin shrugged. “I’ve changed my mind. I think we’re at the level in our relationship where we can give each other that part of ourselves.”
Nick smiled. “I agree with you” He started taking her shirt off.
Kristin hadn’t worn a bra under her tank top, and now found her herself shirtless, which frankly, was a little embarr[arse]ing for her.
But she ignored the feeling and slipped Nick’s shirt of off him.

The p[arse]ion between the couple was increasing with every p[arse]ing minute. Nick was placing p[arse]ionate kisses on Kristin’s neck as he rubbed her back. Kristin groaned slightly as she let Nick do it. Kristin unzipped his pants, and they came off. She managed to kick off her own jeans and they only dressed their underwear. Nick stopped for a minute, and looked into Kristin’s eyes. “Are you sure you want to do this?” He asked her.
“Because we can stop if you’d like”
Kristin nodded her head. “I’m totally sure about this, Nick. I think we are ready to take it to the next level. I dunno about you, but I’m totally enjoying this”
Nick smiled as he teasingly tickled her belly. “I am too, babe, and let’s go on with it”
They helped each other slide off their underwear, and they found themselves underdressed.

Nick then began to give Kristin’s chest a m[arse]age. Kristin flinched slightly, but let Nick do it. She began to lick the side of his neck, which made Nick smile. Nick stopped and began placing kisses on her neck and worked his way down to her navel, then took another round up. Kristin smiled, feeling really comfortable. They looked into each other’s eyes, and began to share a more p[arse]ionate than usual kiss. “This is the best kiss I’ve felt in my life” Kristin thought.

And the p[arse]ion intensified as the night went on. But suddenly, Kristin stopped, a heavy stiffness coming over her.
“What’s wrong, Krissy?” Nick asked her, worry in his eyes.
“I really just a little nervous, because I’ve never done this before” Kristin sighed, laying down on her side.
“What’s to be nervous about? We have each other, taking it to the next level. This is one of the best nights of our lives”
“Nick does have a point” Kristin thought. “I dunno, it’s just something about this that’s really nerve racking. Don’t ask me why”
“Kris, I’m not gonna do anything to make you uncomfortable, because I love you. You know that, don’t you?”
Kristin nodded nervously. “Yeah I know” She paused “Shall we go on?”
Nick gave her the most seductive grin “Hell yeah, because there’s no turning back now”

And Nick was right, that night turned out to be the best night of their lives. They had each other, and didn’t want to let each other go. Everything was definitely perfect between them.

~Chapter 10~

They looked into each other’s eyes, and began to share a more p[arse]ionate than usual kiss. “This is the best kiss I’ve felt in my life” Kristin thought.

And the p[arse]ion intensified as the night went on. But suddenly, Kristin stopped, a heavy stiffness coming over her.
“What’s wrong, Krissy?” Nick asked her, worry in his eyes.
“I really just a little nervous, because I’ve never done this before” Kristin sighed, laying down on her side.
“What’s to be nervous about? We have each other, taking it to the next level. This is one of the best nights of our lives”
“Nick does have a point” Kristin thought. “I dunno, it’s just something about this that’s really nerve racking. Don’t ask me why”
“Kris, I’m not gonna do anything to make you uncomfortable, because I love you. You know that, don’t you?”
Kristin nodded nervously. “Yeah I know” She paused “Shall we go on?”
Nick gave her the most seductive grin “Hell yeah, because there’s no turning back now”

And Nick was right, that night turned out to be the best night of their lives. They had each other, and didn’t want to let each other go. Everything was definitely perfect between them.



~Chapter 11~

After Nick had left that morning, Kristin received a call from Britney.

“Hey yo, what’s up girl?” Britney asked her.

“Nothing really, just chilling at my crib, you?”

“Excited, I guess.”

Kristin became really curious “About what?”

“Me and Jeff. We are a full swing couple. He’s been especially romantic lately, and I really dunno why”

“maybe he wants to marry you” Kristin suggested.

“Whatever, Krissy girl, he wouldn’t commit so soon, we’ve only been a couple for 5 months” Britney’s voice sounded very dismissive.

“I know, but it could happen”

“Besides,” Britney protested “He has a daughter already from a pervious relationship, and I don’t think he’s ready.” She paused. “So, how are you and Nicky?”

“Well, we had a fun time last night” Kristin hoped Britney wouldn’t press for details

“Define fun”

Kristin’s voice began to sound a slight bit defensive. “Now that’s none of your business. All I’ll say is it was very enjoyable”

“Oh. I think I know what you mean, But we won’t go there.” A pause came. “But me and Jeff have taken our relationship to the next level”

“Oh, did y’all enjoy it?”

“Oh yeah, it was grrreeeaaattt! Britney’s voice made her sound like she was purring

“girl, you can be too much sometimes. But, what happened? One second, y’all are best friends, the next lovers. How’d that happen?”

Britney’s tone became serious. “I’m not aloud to say. It had to with the problems with girl he was dating before me, Summer”

Kristin nodded “It’s ok, I understand”

~At her mom’s house a few days later~

Kristin, Amanda and Bryan were sitting in their mom’s kitchen when Kristin asked, “Bry, when do you have to go back to Kansas City?”
Bryan shrugged. “My boss at the place I work at understands that I can’t leave where I’m at, so he’s gonna let me take as long as I need. Besides. I really don’t feel safe leaving you girls here.”
“Why not?” Amanda asked.
“Dad” Bryan said in a flat tone. “I’m afraid he’ll go crazy again and end of killing one of us.”
“even though he’s very abusive, I know he wouldn’t kill one of his own children”
Bryan glared at Amanda “But look what he did to Krissy. It really doesn’t make sense that he wouldn’t kill us if he’s already stabbed Kristin like he has”
“I agree” Kristin said “It doesn’t. So, it means we’re not safe at all”
“and we’ll have to protect Mom, make sure, she don’t get hurt” Bryan sighed. “This is all so confusing. Why did Dad have to get so damn abusive?”
Kristin and Amanda shrugged. They had absolutely no idea, and they probably never would.




~Chapter 12~

A few months went by, and life seemed to calm down a slight bit. There was no sign of their dad, and they thought he was gone, even though as Bryan left to go back to Kansas City, Missouri, he warned them to watch their backs.

Their mom was all right, but they had no idea if she would be ok from her disease or not.

Kristin’s social life was improving. Ever since Kris, Tia, and Andrea had left, she and Alyssa began to hang out with Katie’s college friends, particularly C[arse]idy, Britt, and Jenn.

Everything seemed so secure, but there was one thing Kristin wasn’t too sure about. Her relationship with Nick. They had gotten into some fights since Nick had gone back to record 98 degree’s new album. She knew that she’d felt that way before, but this time, it was stronger, and couldn’t be pushed away like she had before.

She was on the internet, chatting with Mandi, when she decided to bring up the subject of it.

Krlh724: U know what, Manderz?

Hot_chick5: what?

Krlh724: I’m gonna leave Nick.

Hot_chick5: WHAT!?!?!?!?!? U CAN’T! u 2 r so perfect!

Krlh724: I know, but I don’t feel like we don’t belong together ne more. We’ve been fighting ever since he went back to record. We just don’t click.

Hot_chick5: Are you sure? How long has it been going on?

Krlh724: 1 or 2 months.

Hot_chick5: KRISTIN RENEE LEIGH HUNTER! Just because you haven’t been fighting that long, doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t leave a guy. I mean, I’ve been in that situation, and it went away.

Krlh724: Mandi, I appreciate your concern, but I think its time. We’ve had our run together.

(conversation goes on)

Kristin did come to one conclusion, though. She had to talk to Drew before she left Nick.

The phone rang 5 times before Drew answered it

“Drew Lachey speaking”

“Drew? It’s Kris. Can I talk to you?” Kristin was examining her finger nails as she said this.

“Sure, what is it?” Drew sounded ready to listen.

“Well, I think it’s time I left Nick.”

“Well, why do you feel that way?” Drew asked.

“Well, remember when I was on tour with y’all and I talked to you about how I was feeling? Well, those feelings are back, only a whole lot stronger. Plus, Nick and I have been having some humongous fights, and I’m sick of them” She explained. “I hope that makes sense to you”

“Yes, it does” Drew paused. “Nick has mentioned to me that you guys are in a little trouble, but he’s not concerned about you guys ending.”

“Have you asked him about what he would do if we broke up or I left him?” She asked.

Drew sighed. “Yes, I did, and he said that he didn’t know what he’d do without you. He loves you with everything he has, Krissy, and doesn’t want to give you up.”

“Well, he’s gonna have to” Kristin got out her planner. “When can I come?

“Well, tomorrow is really busy, so you can fly in then, and the day after that, is gonna be a light day, so you can do your talk then.”

“Sounds good.” Kristin jotted down a quick note and asked “Any chance I’ll see Brit or Leesh?”

“Well, I know Britney’s out with us, but I haven’t talked to Alicia, because we AREN’T getting along that well”

“Care to share, because I’ll listen.”

“Nah, that’s all right” Drew said “I don’t really want talk about it. I’ll see you tomorrow or Monday, ok?”

“Aiight, bye bro”

Kristin turned off her cell really nervous. “OK, I got 2 days to devise breaking up with my boyfriend. This is just great”

~ On her flight~

Kristin was writing all the ways she could tell Nick she wanted out in her head, but nothing seemed to fit.
“Everything seems so freakin stupid” Kristin thought “Of course, I could just not break up with him, but I can’t do that.” She looked out the window. “Oh well, this’ll pan out. This is a new year, so it’s time to try to get a slightly new life, and that means getting a new boyfriend”

~At her hotel, the next day~

Kristin stepped out of the hotel room, dressed in a white long sleeved shirt, hip hugging jeans and black boots. She felt refreshed after the last nights sleep and her jet lag was worn off.

“Hey Krissy!”

Kristin turned around to see Britney dressed in a wildly pattern shirt in green, blue and black, with some black leather pants and stiletto black sandals.

“Brit, my girl ,what’s up?”
“Nothing too much, just plan to go over and hang with the guys at the studio, you?”
Kristin looked down at the floor, “I am too, but I’m gonna break it off with Nick”
Britney looked at her, surprised “Why?”
“Long story, don’t ask” Kristin sighed. “I really don’t want to do it, though”
“Look it may be hard, but if its something you think will make your life so much happier, then do it, even your breaking a heart in the process”
Kristin looked at her friend “I hope your right”

The two girls rode in Britney’s car to the studio where the guys were working.
They slowly walked in the door not to make any noise as the guys were recording a song.
Kristin tried not to look at Nick, because she knew what she had to do later that day. “Oh my god, I don’t want to break his heart, but I have to” she thought

She looked on as Drew was recording

As they worked with Drew, everyone was cheering him on.

Then it was break time. As they were sitting around, Kristin again avoided Nick’s eyes, even though she knew he was looking at her. “Please don’t let it be given away about what I’m gonna do” she thought. “I don’t want to do this” she put her hands over her face.

A few minutes later, she excused herself and she and Drew walked outside of the studio to have a talk. He looked at her and asked “Are you sure you want to do this?”
Kristin bit her lip and nodded. “I think so, but there’s still a little bit of uncertainty.”
“You know, you don’t have to do this” Drew pointed out.
Kristin sighed. “Yeah, but I believe I have to. I feel if I don’t, my life won’t be stable and I won’t be able to move on”
“Don’t you know you’ll break Nick’s heart?”
Kristin looked off into the distance, a look of sadness in her eyes. “That’s why I don’t want to do it, but it’s necessary”
She turned to Drew. “I’ll miss the rest of y’all though. This time I’ve spent has been a fun time in my life”
They hugged “I’ll miss you too, Kris, you’re a great person, I hate to see you go”
Kristin smiled sadly. “I know”

~Later, in the hotel room~

Kristin was packing up her stuff as she reflected on the memories of her life. “I really don’t want to close the door on this part of my life, but I have to”
She sighed as she zipped her last suitcase. “OK, I’m ready to leave, it’s just the leaving part that’s left”

Nick walked in and before he could say a single word, Kristin said “Nick, I need to talk to you”
They sat on one of the beds and Kristin began “I really don’t think we should be together anymore”
Nick raised his eyebrows “Why do you say that?
“It’s because I feel as if we don’t work together anymore. I’m also getting fed up with you being away all the time and we’ve been fighting way too much recently.” Kristin explained.
“I really don’t want to let you go, but if this is what you want I won’t stop you”
They both stood up and Kristin said “ I’m sorry it has to end like this but it has to”
Nick just sighed, a sad look on his face “It’s all right really” He gave Kristin a final kiss on her cheek and she walked out of the room, out of his life.

She came to the hotel lobby where she saw Britney and Jeff. “Did you break it off?” Jeff asked her.
Kristin just nodded sadly “This is probably the last time you’ll ever see me” she hugged the both of them and walked out of the hotel. “It’s now goodbye to that part of my life” she thought “I am not turning back”


This is the last chapter of this story. I really don't like it now(becausae this is several years old) that i read over it again because how aburtly things happen. I hope y'all have enjoyed it though. There are two stories after this one if you want me to post them.

And life went on. Kristin’s life became really stable and she didn’t have any emotional problems. She actually got herself another boyfriend, but they broke up after two months.

Kristin sighed. It was a song that reflected her and Nick’s relationship.

All of a sudden, she started to miss Nick. She knew it had been a long time since their break up, but she couldn’t help it. They had such a great bond and Nick had treated her so well.
“But that’s in your memory, why go back to it?” she asked herself.
“Because it was such a great relationship”

~A month later~

Kristin was walking through the record store and noticed 98 degrees’s new album “Revelation” . “What the heck” she thought, “I’ll buy it”

She went home to listen to it, and enjoyed it. Especially this one song called “My Everything” which she noticed Nick had written.

Kristin sighed. She had to go back to Nick. She missed him and there was no reason they should be apart. “Why the hell did I break up with him?” she asked herself as she dialed Drew’s number.

“Drew here”

“Hey Drew, I dunno if you remember me, but this is Kristin Hunter.”

“Krissy Leigh?! Of course I remember you, what’s up?”

“Well” Kristin said “I need to know where y’all are”

“And why is that?” Drew asked

“I realized Nick and I can’t be apart and we belong together “

“I KNEW IT! I knew you’d change your mind” Drew sounded happy

“You know me too well” Kristin smiled.

“That I do” Drew told her, and proceeded to tell her where they were.

~A few days later~

Kristin walked into the hotel lobby to find Justin and his new girlfriend, Michelle. “Oh look, it’s Droopy”
Justin blushed. “RL, you embarr[arse]ed me by calling me that”
Kristin smiled “Can’t help it”
“What’s going on here?” Jeff asked. “Krissy Leigh, what are you doing here?”
Kristin smiled. “I couldn’t stay away from y’all”

After Kristin hung out with the others for awhile, Kristin walked into Nick’s room and knocked.
“I hope he takes me back” Kristin thought as he answered the door.
“Krissy? What are you doing here?” Nick looked really puzzled.
Kristin walked into the room and shut the door. “Nick, I was stupid to think I could leave you. We really belong together. Forgive me?”
Nick grinned. “Of course I do, baby. I love you”
“I love you, too” Kristin whispered, as they leaned in to kiss.

“You know that new song, ‘My Everything’? Who did you write that for?”
“I wrote it with you in mind, even though that you were gone from my life. I still loved you”
Kristin smiled. “You’re making me feel special”
“That’s because you are, Krissy” Nick ran his fingers through Kristin’s hair.
“What do you want to do tonight?” Kristin asked Nick.
“I don’t know, maybe cuddle up and watch a movie and then go to sleep together.”
Kristin smiled, “Sounds great” as they began to kiss.

That night, Nick and Kristin did watch a movie, but didn’t really pay attention to it. As they laid in bed together, Nick began to sing a cappla (Sp?)

Kristin smiled and they kissed again.
“I love you, Krissy” Nick whispered.
“I love you too, Nick”
Then they curled up together and fell asleep, so very glad that everything was working out for them.
