Hey there, I am taking a break on posting D&C for a few days ... at least till I get some more reviews...lol. So I though I'd post my new story that I am working on ... please don't let youre hate for Jessica stop you from reading this story...

I don't own anything....except the plot

Chapter one

The bell could be heard throughout the noisy halls of UCLA. Students rushing off in every direction, hurrying to get to their lectures before the big double doors slam shut signaling their tardiness. Jessica Simpson was one of very few who had arrived early. Her off period was just before this one, giving her plenty of time to reach her destination without the stress of worrying whether or not she was going to make it on time. Sitting in the center third row chair, Jessica opened her brown leather pack and pulled out her CD case. Mrs. Bular, a pleasantly plump professor who had claimed she had yet to reach her prime, [arse]igned each pupil in her honors choir, to record themselves singing a song of their choice. A few picked country. Others chose between pop and R&B, but Jess felt the need to record 'Take my breath away' by Berlin. As the last of the stragglers entered the cl[arse]room awaiting Mrs. Bular to enter, they all became restless. They were excited about the upcoming singing contest. Mrs. Bular, earlier that week, had announced that she and the rest of the music department would listen to each song carefully; then picking the best 3 singers, and enter them into the talent search contest that Columbia Records was holding.

When the huge doors opened, in came the dean. He was a scrawny, bald man. It was once rumored that he was cheating on his wife of 20 years, with the campus *****, Candy Walabang. Following lazily behind was the most gorgeous man Jessica, and many other girls and a few gentleman, had seen in their entire lifetime. "May I please have your attention, Mrs. Bular had recently p[arse]ed away. Information can be found on the school website for those of you who wish to attend the funeral. We are very lucky to have found a replacement in such a short amount of time. For the remaining of the semester, Mr. Lachey will take over and follow the curriculum that Mrs. Bular had put together." Turning his back to the stunned bunch, the dean reached out his unusual large, hairy hand and wished Mr. Lachey the best of luck.

Nick Lachey marveled at how easy landing this job had been. The chief at the LAPD had giving his best federal agent an undercover [arse]ignment. He was to portray a professor and keep his eye on an attending student: Jessica Simpson. An anonymous call had tipped the LAPD about a remarkably large drug ring run by a notorious crime lord, Derek Duran. They needed proof, and getting it was going to be risky. So they opted to get to him by going through his girlfriend.

Nick ran his hand over the mahogany desk. Each and every student intrigued as to what was going to happen next. Their new Teacher had yet to acknowledge them. He studied his surroundings. Finally, He turned around and faced the cl[arse]. His sudden movement frightening a few of the women. "My name is Mr. Lachey, I want to be your friend, but give me a reason not to be and it wont be pretty. Can anyone please tell me where we are in the lesson?" Many of the anxious women shot their hands into the air, eager for their new hunky professor to notice them. Nick inwardly groaned at the hormonally driven girls and pointed to a brunet. "You, can you please fill me in as to what we are doing?" Leah nodded and explained the project. In the middle of her explanation, his eyes traveled over to a beautiful blonde sitting cross legged next to her. That must be Miss Simpson. Earlier that morning, he had studied her profile until the photo of her was etched in his mind. He had thought that she was a beauty, but the picture held little comparison to the blonde goddess sitting a few rows in front of him.

He had heard the brunet and thanked her. "Let's make this a little more interesting" He took a minute to think, "We are going to spend the next three days listening to each song. At the last 10 minutes of the cl[arse] period, we will take a silent ballot. Each winner, then will be entered in to the contest. Any objections?" Jessica turned to Lea and discussed the proposition. Whispers were heard through out the room. A couple of minutes later, Nick took a vote. Majority chose his idea. He counted the total number of students. It wasn't a very big cl[arse]. thirty-three were present. "Eleven of you, will share your tape or CD each day, earning you an automatic 100. Who want's to go first?" Thus his day began.

~*~*~*~

I hope you like ... please review and tell me what you think of this story, also I am open to idea's...

Here's chapter 2...I hope you guys enjoy it... please leave me some feedback... enjoy

UNDERCOVER LOVER; ANGENT NICK LACHEY

When Music Theory was released for the day, Jessica and Lea parted ways at the student parking lot, with promises of watching a long needed chick flick that night and eating fat filled popcorn, even if Lea had to shove it down her throat. Waving good-bye to Lea, Jess found her black Mitsubishi and drove off to the grand Timmur Apartments.

Reaching apartment 17B, Jessica struggled with keeping her books balanced, while digging through her Louie Vinton bag for her keys to her shared apartment. Jessica managed to unlock her and Lea's door while only dropping one of her books onto the hallway floor. Sighing in frustration, Jessica bent down, swearing she was going to burn all books, when she noticed a pair of nice, expensive, brown penny loafers standing in front of her. Looking up, she squealed in surprise, dropped her book, and backed up against the slightly open door and fell on her butt in the most ungraceful way.

There stood before her eyes, her new and very hunky professor. A blush crept up to her flushed cheeks.

Inwardly laughing at the little display before him, Nick bent down and retrieved her book with one hand and offered her his other. Reluctantly accepting his help, he pulled her up into a standing position, noting how light weight she was.

“You ok?” asked Nick with a hint of amusement.

Consumed with new found anger, Jessica yanked her perfectly fit hand out of his and gave him her famous death glare that her mother had taught her back in Jr. High.

Nick sensed her mood, and glanced down at her slightly torn book, “You're in my Music Theory cl[arse]?” It was more of a statement than a question.

Picking up the rest of her fallen items, grunting in anger, Jessica forced on an overly fake smile and replied with a curt yes.
She grabbed for her book, but Nick held it above her head, just out of her reach.

Jessica jumped in hopes of getting her book but her attempts were futile. “Excuse me Professor, but I really must be going. You know, tons of homework.”

“Awe yes of course Miss…”

Rolling her eyes, “It’s Jessica Simpson.”

“Miss Simpson, here you go, I look forward to seeing you in cl[arse] tomorrow.”

Nodding his way, she took her 26 pound book, bid him good-bye and went on into her crisp, clean apartment.

Looking at him once more, Jessica closed her door lightly and waited to here the soft pitter patter of scoffing shoes walking down the hallway, before she made her way deeper inside her home.

~*~*~*~

Watching her until she was safely tucked away inside her apartment, Nick grinned and went on his merry way to his room one flight up. His commissioner strategically placed him in the same apartment building that his case lived in, giving him more of a chance to get to know her better and possibly find a weakness to the scum she calls boyfriend.

Walking into his apartment room, Nick picked up the phone and called his brother Drew.

“Hey Drew, it’s Nick, I need you to look up where Jessica Simpson and her roommate gets the money for such a nice apartment.

Swiveling in his chair, Drew scooted up to his computer at the LAPD office and typed the information into his database.

“I sent it to your fax. Hope it helps.”

Nick walked over to his computer work station and watched the fax machine produce two pages worth of dirt on Simpson, “Thanks little bro. Later.” Hanging up on him, Nick read over the papers.

Jessica Simpson was reported to be working part time at a hot spot for the college crowd called the Danger Zone, and often performed at open mic nights for some extra cash, while Lea, her roommate and best friend worked as a vet [arse]istant. Both parties brought in a steady income, but would not be able to afford a nice apartment off campus of UCLA if it were not for Jessica's boyfriend of six months, Derek Duran.

~*~*~*

Jessica tossed her keys carelessly onto the counter, and walked over to the blinking light of the answer machine. She pressed play and went to the fridge and got out a Slim Fast Vanilla milk shake. Lea had another cl[arse], so that left the apartment all to her.

“You have two new messages and three old messages,” the sound of the robotic voice of her ancient answer machine filled the dorm room as Jessica walked around the Formica counter top and in her bedroom to get ready for a bath. There was something about her new professor that eked her to know end.

“Message one,” droned her machine, “hey Lea, it’s Ella; I was wondering if you'd like to catch a movie with me tomorrow night. Call me when you get this message, bye.”

“Thursday 12:23 PM”

“Message two, Jessica, its Derek, sorry babe, but I am gonna have to cancel our date for tonight … ummm things came up so maybe you could take this time to work on that pudge of yours. Love ya toots.”

“Thursday 1:37 PM,” concluded her machine before it beeped off.

Looking over towards her forgotten can of Slim Fast, tears began to collect at the corner of her eyes. She was fat, even her boyfriend, the man who loved her, thought she was. Walking back into her bedroom, Jessica shut off the bath water and grabbed her Tae-Bo workout video off the shelf of her entertainment system.

Turing on the living room TV that Derek had given to them as a home warming gift, Jessica placed the tape in to the VCR and worked out nonstop for two hours on end.

Chapter 3

Lea came home to see the TV on and a past out Jessica lying on the soft plush carpet motionless. Throwing down her things, Lea rushed to her side, and started to shake her, a worried expression marring her features.

“Jess, come on girl wake up.”

Jessica sighed and raised her arm to her head, “Oh, my head.”

Looking around the living room, Jessica slowly began to sit up.

“Oh no you don’t, you stay still for a few minutes,” Lea gently shoved her back down in to a comfortable position, “God Jess, what happened here?”

Closing her eyes, willing the dizziness to go away, Jess mumbled, “Derek…â€Â

Lea cut in outraged, “Derek, what did that [arse]hole do now? He didn’t hit you again did he?”

Jumping up Jessica waved her hands in the air, trying to calm down her concerned friend, “No he didn’t hit me.” Finding the couch, she sat down and put her head in her hands, wiping her brow from the sweat still dripping down, “He called to cancel our date, and he suggested that I work out,” Jessica quickly added in that he as just looking out for her, “Anyway, so I grabbed Tae-Bo and I guess I got a little carried away. I want Derek to be happy. I don’t want him to have to be with a fat girl like me, he deserves better.”

“I can’t believe you Jess, you are not fat, far from it,” Lea began pacing the floor, “you’re TOO skinny, can’t you see what all this dieting is doing to you? You used to be such a beautiful girl with such life, and now you’re nothing but a walking corps. Derek doesn’t love you. If he did, he’d take you the way you were and not demand that you drop pounds until you’re nothing!”

Tears started to cascade down her lashes, “How could you say that Lea? Derek does love me. I thought you were my friend, friends are supposed to be supportive, and you are anything but.”

“But that’s just it, I was being supportive, but you’re sick Jessica, don’t think for a second that I am not your friend, you’re like my sister. I’m not stupid Jess; I know that you throw up your meals. You need help, and I am not gonna stand by and let this [arse]hole ruin the girl I once knew.”

Jessica smacked her best friend in the face, before running out the door, and away from her problems.

~*~*~*~

Nick sat at his Dell laptop, slouched over his desk, sleeping soundly, dreaming of catching the bad guy and rescuing the damsel in distress.

“You’ve got mail” The computer chimed, waking up sleeping beauty from his fairy tale dreamland.

Rubbing the sleep from his blue depths, Nick sat up and reached over and grabbed the papers his brother faxed him. He examined them again for the hundredth time that day, willing some new information to pop up out of the blue.

“She works at the Danger Zone…,” Nick mumbled to himself.

That’s it, sliding his chair over to his desk phone, he called up Drew. Nick told him to meet him at Danger Zone at 7:00 that night. The plan was to go there, get drinks and scope out the area, observe Jessica, and see if maybe her boyfriend showed up.

Hanging up, Nick looked at the clock, 4:30 PM, he ran his fingers through his hair, and got up. No use staring at a computer screen all day. He stretched his upper body, and let out a loud yawn, rubbing his face, Nick headed over to his bath room sink. He glanced at his reflection, and noticed that a five o’clock shadow had begun making its way across his chin and upper lip. Turning on the tap, he cupped some luke warm water and splashed it across his face. He opened up the mirror cabinet and pulled down his shaving cream. Closing his eyes, he sprayed the foamy substance in to the palm of his hand and applied it.

A small hand traveled up his rock hard abs, causing chills to run down his spine. Nick opened his eyes slowly, and saw Jessica standing there before him holding the shaving cream can in her hands. With a playful smile, spraying some into her hand, she spread on a think layer, caressing his face, relaxing him. Looking at her foam filled hands; a seductive grin touched her full lush lips. She took both hands and wiped them on his white wife beater. Laughter filled the air. Catching her hands above her head, Nick dove in for a forceful yet welcomed kiss. Tongues lapped around each other, acting as if they were in a heated hockey match. Sliding his calloused hands down her smooth skin, Nick pushed her up against the sink and lifted her up, allowing her to rest on the porcelain. He pulled away, and looked deep into her eyes, he saw how flush she had became and pride overwhelmed him. He closed his eyes once more and went back in for the kill. Expecting soft full lips, he found a hard gl[arse] surface in his wake. It had been a dream. He pulled away from his kissing partner, the mirror, and opened it up, pulled out the razor and began to mow the tiny hairs that occupied his face.

~*~*~*~

Dabbing her tears with her soft pink jacket sleeve, Jessica walked down Sunshine Avenue. Spotting her favorite coffee shop, Jims Java Hut, Jessica went in and ordered the most fattening thing on the menu, she was depressed. She had slapped her best friend, the one who has been there through thick and thin, the one person who knew her like nobody else, including her boyfriend. What hurt Jessica the most was the fact that Lea had hit the money, Derek didn’t love her. He’s told her many times, especially when he was beating her into oblivion. He raised his hand to her more than a dozen times, and after each and ever one, he’d beg for her forgiveness. She thought she loved him, so she always took him back. Finding a seat in the back out on the patio; Jessica resumed her adventure down memory lane.

One night, when Derek came over drunk and possibly high, and Lea was out of town at a veterinarian seminar, he had forced himself on her, knocking her down to the ground and ripping at her clothes. Some how she had gotten away, she swore to herself, her parents, and God that she would forever remain pure till the one man she meant to spend the rest of her life with put a ring on her left finger and said “I do.”

Derek had stumbled over to her and started yelling at how he owned her and if he wanted to [bad word] her brains out, he would. He punched her cheek, yelling obscenities, and kicked her in the ribs over and over again, not relenting till she begged for him to stop. He kicked her one final time and called her a **** [arse] [nice person] and walked out, leaving the apartment door open for all the world to see his handy work.

The tears that she had thought she’d gotten rid of resurfaced. That night she swore she would leave him, and she did, until he threatened her family and Lea. He would kill them all if she left him. That was three weeks ago, and since then she had been stuck in a relationship with a psycho with no hope of ever getting out till she was dead.

Slurping down the last bit of her grande caramel frappichino, Jessica left a tip for the waitress on duty and made her way back to Timmur Apartments to get ready for work. She had the night shift, 6-12 and she couldn’t afford to be late.

Chapter 4

Nick stood outside of the club, Danger Zone with its big, tacky neon green sign, waiting for his little brother to show up. If he wasn’t on an undercover mission, he’d be busting people left and right for prostitution and heavy drug use. The area the club was located in was deep in the heart of troublemakers. Why would Jessica want to work out here?

Drew jogged up to his brother, “Hey man, sorry I’m late; K[arse]ie wouldn’t stop crying. She didn’t want me to leave her home all alone so I had to find her a sitter.”

Nick laughed at his brother’s behavior, “Drew, K[arse]ie is a dog. I think she’s capable of taking care of herself.” Nick always joked at how Drew treated his golden retriever as if she was his own daughter. The guy needed to find a girlfriend and fast.

“You take care of your animals the way you want to and I’ll treat mine the way I want. Anyway…The chief called me before I left, that’s why I was late. He said he wanted a full report on his desk first thing in the morning.”

Nick nodded and pulled his leather duster closer to his body protecting him from the cold breeze p[arse]ing by. “Let’s go. Jessica’s been working for an hour already.”

Drew lifted his brows, “Did I just hear you call your case by her first name?”

Not knowing where this was leading, Nick gave his brother a questioning glance, “Yeah, so?”

“You’re in love.” Drew stated as if what he told his brother was nothing.

“Me saying Jessica’s name means I’m in love?”

“You said it again.”

After showing their license to the bouncer, they were allowed in and were hit with a smog of smoke.

Nick lowered his voice, not wanting to draw attention to him self, “What are you getting at?”

Both detectives stealthily slithered along the dark colored walls, staying hidden by the shadows. Locating a table in the far right corner, they sat down. Nick brought down his ball cap to cover his eyes and slouched a bit.

Chuckling, Drew told him that with every other beautiful woman he worked with he always, ALWAYS, called them by their last names. That way, they wouldn’t get attached. And by saying Miss Simpson’s name so early in the mission, was a sure sign of weakness; a sign of growing love.

Not wanting to hear anymore of his brother’s crazy theories, Nicholas turned his attention to his surroundings.
He spotted a sleazy couple acting as if they were having sex rather than dancing on the dance floor, a man walk into the women’s restroom, and heard a drunken bum hic-up his way through the lyrics to an awful song, I’m Too Sexy, on the stage.

Where was Jessica? She was scheduled to work tonight. Nick felt a light tap on his shoulder and noticed his brother pointing over to the other side of the room. It was Jessica dressed in a white blouse with the first 2 buttons unbuttoned, a short black skirt and a red bow holding her blonde hair up. She was taking orders from three males that looked her over.

~*~*~*~*~

Jessica felt uncomfortable and disgusted under the scrutiny of the men at her table. But she held her distaste for them in not wanting to cause a scene. They took their time looking over the menus until one purposely dropped it to the ground. Jessica rolled her eyes. Why were they taking forever? She bent down to retrieve it and felt a cold, clammy hand on her back side. Moving her body from the boy’s grasp, she landed a heavy punch to his face and told them to get out.

~*~*~*~

Nick looked on at the scene before him. He was ready to pounce on the losers that dared touch her, but was surprised at Jess’s reaction. He put her down as a small, frail helpless woman. Not this strong, beautiful Amazon warrior.

~*~*~*~

Pulling down her skirt to finger tip length, Jessica began to clear off the table that had been evacuated. Carrying the dirty dishes bucket to the back kitchen, Jessica was stopped by a forceful hand. It was Derek. The confidence that once inhabited her being slowly drained and was replaced by fear.

Derek smiled. He loved making her afraid of him. On his way in, he ran into the bunch that grabbed Jessica. He asked them why he was leaving so suddenly. Recognizing him as the owner if the place, they made up a bold face lie about a crazy banshee inside that decided to go ape on them. Offering them a free meal next time they came in, Derek balled up his fists.

“Jessie, baby, let the Ginny take that. I need to see you in my office.”

Gulping in, Jessica called her friend and co-worker over and asked her to take the grey bucket to James the dish washer. Giving Derek a warm welcome and a wink, she yanked the bucket out of her hands and overly swayed her hips when walking.

“Wha-What’s up?”

Not speaking, Derek grabbed tightly on her arm and dragged her to the back room. Rushing past Nick, and sensed the alarm in her eyes. Waiting for them to p[arse], he told his brother he’d be back and followed just as the door slammed shut. The other occupants in the club didn’t take notice to the ruckus because the music was blaring from the speakers. The open-mic had been shut down for that hour.

Pressing his eyes up to the door, he struggled to listen to the argument going on inside.

Derek threw her into a near by chair. “Do you know why you’re in here?”

Jessica shook her head no.

Derek sauntered over to her, caressing her face tenderly and then cupped her chin, making her look into his angry eyes. “I ran into some unsatisfied customers on my way in here.”

Confusion filled her chocolate brown eyes glazed with tears. “They said you punched one of them for no apparent reason.”

“No, that’s not what happened. I swear, one guy dropped his menu on the floor, I bent down to pick it up and he grabbed my butt. That’s why I punched him.”

Derek acted as if he was thinking her confession over, before smacking her face, his ring cutting her lip.

Nick on the other side of the door heard his angel cry out in pain. He wanted to break down the door and arrest him, but the LAPD needed more evidence. Calming himself down a bit he waited for any more action.

“Don’t lie to me. Why would my customers lie? You on the other hand have ever reason to. And you wonder why I don’t love you, how could I love a liar.” Derek released her face with a shove and walked over to his desk. Still standing, his back turned to her, a sick demented grin appeared on his lips. The fun was just beginning.

Knowing that arguing with him would make her punishment far worse, Jessica wiped at her tears. “I’m sorry.”

Removing the smile, Mr. Duran stalked over towards his cowering beauty. “Sorry? Do you know how long it took me to make this club what it is today? All my hard work could have been flushed down the god forsaken toilet if I hadn’t ran into those fine gentlemen. And all because of your foolishness…” He hit her again. Pulling her up from his expensive chair, the chair he’s used so many times with other women; he pushed her up against the wall. His hands traveled up over her breast.

Jessica closed her eyes tight, wanting to throw up from this monsters touch. “Please, let me go.”

With out a second thought, she felt a stabbing pain in her right rib. She sank to the soft padded floor, her breath knocked out from the punch.

“Get cleaned up and out of my sight” Derek sneered.

Hearing a pause in the room, Nick heard footsteps come closer to the door. Ducking inside an open closet, he waited till the man p[arse]es before walking into the office.

Jessica jumped in fear at the sound of the door creaking open, but what she saw was defiantly not what she expected. Standing there was her music theory professor.

“What are you doing here?”

Nick pulled out his wallet from his back pocket and sank down next to her. He held it out for her to take.

She took it with caution. She opened the leather material and caught sight of a silver badge. She gasped. “You’re a cop?”

Nick sighed, maybe his brother was right; maybe he was falling for the hurt angel in front of him. She looked so beautiful with her knees pulled up against her chest and hair coming loose from its hold of the bow, he makeup smeared slightly. His heart broke at the sight of her bruised lip. It was swelling and had dried up blood caked over the sore.

“No, I’m and FBI agent with the LAPD. I’m on a case to bring down Derek Duran. We have suspicions that he’s harboring drugs somewhere, waiting to be sold.”

“You won’t be able to stop him,” Jessica spoke up sadly, “he’s powerful, has connections all over LA.”

~*~*~*~

Drew worried about the waitress, got up and went the direction his brother had half and hour ago.

He heard hushed whispers in the back room, “Nick, you in here?”

Hearing his brother’s voice, “Yeah, we’re in here.”

Standing up, he took Jessica’s hand and helped her up again for the second time that day.

Drew saw the interaction and noticed the contentment coming from the girl. “Are you alright Miss Simpson?”

Taking out the bow and running a shaking hand through her hair, she nodded, “Yes, I’ll be fine.”

“So I take it you blew you cover big brother.”

Softly giggling at the rhyme Jessica fixed her clothes.

“Yes, she knows.” He turned his attention to Jessica. “You have to keep this a secret. Our lives and yours are in danger now.”

She scoffed, “My life has been in danger since the day he entered my life. Your secret is safe with me.”

Drew thanked her and asked to speak to his brother privately. He took him just right out side the office. “What are we going to do now? Does she know anything?”

Nick hurriedly answered, “No and we are not going to involve her.”

“Yes...” Jessica stepped out from behind the door with a determined look and her hands placed on her hips. “You are.”
