It's about that time again (Christmas Card Exchange)

OK - we're back for another year of the Christmas card exchange.

if you are interested in expanding your Christmas mailing list by sending/receiving Christmas cards to/from other members of Nickfanatic - send me the following information BY OCTOBER 31, 2008NOVEMBER 7, 2008 in a private message here on the board with the subject 2008 Christmas Card List (or something similar). I'll send a list of all participants to everyone who signs up during the first week the following weekend.

Name & mailing address (that means street address for snail mail)



If you are under 18 - make sure you get your parents permission to give out your personal information/address. In past years we've had participation from people in Canada, England, Norway, Austrailia, and of course the United States.

I had a feeling that it was. lol I still use that one, but I don't go and get the mail as often as I should. I rely on Diana to bring it in here when she comes in from work and she's terrible at doing that, too. They won't take me off the thing since we opened it together. Go figure.

Just a quick note -

I bumped the deadline back a week - this weekend is gonna be nuts for me - gotta work Sat & Sunday because we're implementing a new electronic health care record at the hosp I work for AND I'm taking a placement test to help determine some classes I may need when I start school again in January.

So if you're taking part - watch for the list to be sent to you in a Private Message on the 7th or 8th. :)

No need to panic, I'm just UNUSUALLY ahead of time. Like for me, this is epic, so I shared. :p I'm usually the one scrambling with a week left to go to address, fill out and then mail them. I'm just a tad early. Doesn't mean they'll be mailed yet, but they're done now.

I think that if I can find some time, by some weird freakish accident, to get to the post, that I'll get the stamps sometime this week and then get them mailed. The US stamps I can get in the lobby but the overseas ones I can't and with this schedule, they're closed when I leave for work and when I get off. It always seems like it's something. lol

No - they aren't the same price - it's a bit more expensive for the overseas mail. I just checked the international mailing page on usps.com (united states postal service.com) - and for cards/letters the cost starts at 72cents depending on weight/location it's being shipped to. - ok just found the prices for the 4 countries outside of the US that are included in the exchange for cards/letters weighing 1 ounce or less

Canada - 72 cents
Norway - 94 cents
England - 94 cents
Austrailia 94 cents


For Norway/England/Austrailia - include AIR MAIL on the envelopes as well. (not sure if it's needed for Canada or not).

I'm used to Australia's post as I send stuff to Jules all the time (just a bunch of cutesie stuff that we laugh about, mainly our obsession with A7X, she'll get things we don't get in the States and vice versa), and I figured that the other countries were around the same price.

I do know that if you forget the "Air Mail" on your envelopes (like I do all the time!) it'll still get to Aussie. I imagine for Canada it won't be needed, I don't remember Tara putting it on the cards she's sent previously.

In addition to a little bit higher of a postage amount, they also have their own stamps, although the England, Norway and Australia ones will all have the same kind and Canda will be it's own separate one, too. If that makes sense. Basically ask for three 94 cent stamps and one 72 cent. That's what I do. Then again, I get like 10 94 cent at a time and the post people always stare at me weird.

And postcards, forget it--they're still 94 or 72 cents no matter what. They're not like ours--we have our own postcard stamp.

Hi Tash I never knew you were expecting (sorry a bit late there) many congratulations if I can offer any words of advice when the time comes and you are in the delivery room go with an epidural they are fantastic!!! Again congratulations and keep me posted x

I totallly agree!! And yes, it took me a while, but what I do is I jsut upload a pic to Paint and then paste my face over Vanessa'a! It's time comsuming bc it's hard to blend the colors and stuff, but the end product is soooo worth the time. (Even though everyone thinks youre crazy lol) I did the same thing with my icon... I made it last year with Nick and Vanessa's New Year pic! I just put myself right in there hahah.
I think it's a great idea that u got tix for the Cosmo thing! Any chance to see Nick go for it!! And I would def meet up! I think we should plan a "Nick friends meet and greet" hahahha Maybe when the weather gets a little better. It's a shame we all live so far from each other!
Oh and I also cropped myself into Nick and Vanessa's vacation pics, where they were getting hot and heavy in the pool. That is a classic! I did it before they took the pics off of the internet. I found out at my 20 week scan what the sex was and it didn't spoil anything when she actually arrived 38 hours of labour later but that's something you probably did not want to hear. I was undecided about whether to find out or not but then I looked at it like even if I know the sex I won't know what he or she looks like or what hair colour it would have because it is someone that is made from two different people and that's a surprise in itself to see the similarities between the two parents. Hope that makes sense

That makes total sense, actually. It's like I told Rae last week...I'm riding on the fence between knowing and not...the suspense is eating at me, but I think I'm going to stick with not knowing.
